Saying Lagos is one of the dirtiest places in the country won't be an exaggeration! Despite the work by Lagos State Waste Management (LAWMA), it seems they are even getting overwhelmed due to the workload on them. When you visit some places in the heart of Lagos, you have to cover your nose else you inhale germs.

#TrashChallenge has been trending on twitter for quite some weeks but it seems no one is paying attention as it's not about paparazzi or a clapback on celebrities or anything that has to do with gossips.

#TrashChallenge is a global campaign against dirt. It's a campaign to keep the environment clean and free of trash, just as the name implies, a trash challenge where you trash out every dirt.

For those who are familiar with Obalende under the bridge just immediately after P&T bus stop will testify that the place is home to dirt and filths. A group of young Nigerians decided to do something unique, they clean up the place. Obalende under the bridge is home to pick-pockets, drug addicts and street urchins who sleep under the bridge. Seeing this, some Nigerians have taken up the challenge and they are cleaning up the streets, their environment, and locality.

Imagine if we all can imbibe this challenge on a monthly basis, imagine if this can spread across the federation and we replicate what the Rwandans are doing in their country, Nigeria will be a country we all can be proud of.

Before you call this media stunt, what about starting one in your locality and upload it for the hype, after all change starts from you!

Religion / Re: Please Why Is It That Christians Dont Love Each Other, Only In Church? by HerCuteness(f): 2:06pm On Mar 27, 2019
Ihedinobi3:

Hi.

I am a Christian too, that is, I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, God Who became Man as well so that He could die for our sins and save us from the Lake of Fire which is the Second Death, and I am committed to following Him according to the Bible.

First, you are right, of course, that many Christians - whether they only pretend to be Christians or they are actually Christians - are not very loving people. That is because (and here I answer your question) Christian behavior is not automatic. That is, naming yourself a Christian or actually deciding to believe in the Lord Jesus does not automatically change our behavior. Our attitude to life and to other people only changes as we make the deliberate effort to learn the Bible correctly from gifted and prepared Bible teachers and believe what we learn and apply it to our lives. This is how we change. When Christians don't do this - as the vast majority since this Laodicean age that began in the late 19th century has been increasingly averse to doing - well, it is hard to see a meaningful difference between their behavior and that of narcissistic unbelievers. In fact, you may even find better behaved unbelievers than such Christians, as you have observed here.

That brings me to the question of Muslims. Just like any other human being, each Muslim possesses a free will and can decide how to behave in spite of which God they choose to recognize. This too is why you can find a very nice atheist whose only apparent fault is that they don't believe in Jesus Christ. We can each of us decide how we want to act in each situation we find ourselves. So, if a group of Muslims decide that they want to be kind to other Muslims, then they will be. As for how they can possibly know to be kind without being Christians, not only does everyone, no matter what they choose to believe, possess a free will, but we also each possess a conscience that tells us right from wrong. This is what makes it possible for us to choose to do good rather than evil whenever we do.

That is all to say that being a Christian does not directly translate into being a good person, not without the requisite work involved, and being an unbeliever of any shade does not translate into being a bad person, not unless the person chooses to be.

I realize that that does raise the question, for some people, of why salvation is important if people can be good without Christ. The answer is short and simple: nobody can ever be perfect. We are all sinners, even if some of us are better than others. For this reason, God will not judge us merely by our behavior. Only those who believe in Jesus Christ and persevere in that faith until the end of their lives will be saved no matter what their behavior is because Jesus Christ has paid for all their sins. Only those who reject or fail to accept faith in Jesus Christ and persist in doing so until the end of their lives will be condemned no matter what their behavior is.

That does not mean at all that our behavior is not unimportant. Christians who behave poorly not only risk losing their faith because sin opposes faith, but they also risk losing rewards and being rebuked severely by the Lord Jesus at His Judgment Seat on the Day that He judges believers. That is not to mention the discipline that the Lord pours upon sinning believers while they are still alive on earth - He does not take sin lightly at all, and even kills believers for sinning recklessly.

As for unbelievers, when He judges them at the end of time on the Great White Throne, the Lord Jesus will acknowledge all their good behavior because He is fair (see Matthew 11:20-24, for example), but that won't save a single one of them from the Lake of Fire. Sin is rebellion against God and that rebellion is expressed in thought, word and deed. Even one thought alone of such stain condemns the sinner to the Lake of Fire. No amount of good behavior before or after such a stain will ever be sufficient to make up for it. Only the Sacrifice that the Lord Jesus made is. So, if anyone is unwilling to accept that Sacrifice in their behalf, they are eternally doomed.

Second, Islam is more than just a charitable religion. It is an enterprise for global domination. It was therefore designed to win subjects either by being nice to them or by threatening them, if niceness does not work. The Islam we have today is the descendant of one that suffered a lot of military defeats and in-fighting that essentially forced it to change its default approach to gaining territory. Islam is violent and oppressive by nature. It is only when it lacks the power to subjugate people - as it currently does - that it plays nice. As we speak, however, it is building back its military and political clout - not least through its niceness, especially for political clout - and will very soon relaunch its quest for global dominion under the Mahdi. At that time, its nature will become apparent again, but it may be too late then for those who were deceived by its current nice façade to realize that violence and oppression are not only normal to Islam but are really its only true colors. They may look for the niceness to return after the violence and oppression only to see it never return.

Furthermore, the most war-torn regions of the world today are Islamic. It is Saudi Arabia that is pounding poverty-ridden Yemen to the dust right now. Syria has been in a vicious civil war the likes of which have probably never been seen before, considering the use of chemical weapons by the government against citizens. Afghanistan and Iraq may be blamed on the US but the Taliban were not particularly nice to their people in Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein was a despot. Consider also the refugees who fled from Syria and were for the most part ignored or denied refuge in other Islamic havens except for Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan. It takes a desire to hate the Truth to deny that Islam is not everything you have claimed here that it is.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask for clarification anywhere you need it.

despite all the feelings of discomfort, feelings of just not being enough, we have a power in us. Something greater than all the obstacles in our way. In the face of our fears and obstacles, we have the power to try to look towards something lighter. Call it the law of attraction, call it prayer, call it blind faith, call it whatever you want…it all boils down to one thing: positivity.

Health / Re: Top 10 Drugs And Substances Killing Young Nigerians by HerCuteness(f): 12:13pm On Mar 26, 2019
PublicHealthNig:
Top 10 Drugs and Substances Abused By Nigerians

Drug abuse, is a patterned use of a drug in which the user consumes the substance in amounts or with methods which are harmful to themselves or others. It is also the inappropriate use of substances including alcohol, prescription medication, illegal drugs for purposes such as pleasure, to feel or perform better in certain situations, or to change one’s perception of reality. It is estimated that the average annual retail cost of psychotropic substances in Nigeria is more than USD $15,000, while alcoholic beverages, aside from spirit, generate more than USD $30,000 from sales to a consumer population of about 30 to 35 million people.

There is practically no major city in Nigeria that does not have hide outs or joints or clubs or ram-shackles where young Nigerians gather to buy or use drugs of different descriptions to feel good. However, Northern Nigeria appear to be the worst hit as young people especially girls and young women have latched unto illicit substances in the quest for cloud nine .

A survey conducted by Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Center for Research and Information on Substance Abuse with technical support from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and funding from the European Union reported that the highest levels of drug use was recorded among young Nigerians between the ages of 25 to 39, with cannabis being the most widely used drug.

Health Complications

Drug and alcohol use impacts nearly every part of your body from your heart to your bowels. Substance abuse can lead to abnormal heart rates and heart attacks, and injecting drugs can result in collapsed veins and infections in your heart valves. Some drugs can also stop your bones from growing properly, while others result in severe muscle cramping and general weakness. Using drugs over a long period of time will also eventually damage your kidneys and your liver.

Infections

When you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you may forget to engage in safe sex practices. Having unprotected sex increases your chances of contracting a sexually transmitted disease. Sharing the needles used to inject certain drugs can give you diseases like hepatitis C, hepatitis B, and HIV. You can also spread common colds, the flu, and mono from sharing pipes and bongs.

Legal Consequences

Drug and alcohol abuse not only has negative effects on your health but can also have legal consequences that you’ll have to deal with for the rest of your life. Many employers require that you take a drug test before offering you a job—many of them even conduct random drug tests even after you become an employee. Refusing to give up drugs could end up making you unemployed, which comes with even more issues.

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol can lead to a suspended driver’s license, usually for 6 months to 2 years. You’ll also need to pay heavy fines and may even spend some time in jail.

Financial Problems

Drugs and alcohol are expensive, especially when you’re using a lot and constantly. Substance abuse also impacts your productivity and success at work and in school. The time spent searching for, using and recuperating from drugs can be better spent learning new skills to advance your career.

The legal issues tied to drug use will increase your bills as well. Your car and health insurance rates may increase and you will have to find a way to pay for arrest warrants, DUIs, and legal counsel.

Injuries and Death

If you use drugs and alcohol, you’re more likely to experience physical injury or be involved in car accidents. Even worse, you also have an increased risk of death through both suicide and homicide.

These drug-related deaths are on the rise, doubling since the early 1980s. Alcohol specifically results in 5.2 million accidental injuries and 1.8 million deaths each year. It’s estimated that 1 out of every 4 deaths is caused by drugs and alcohol, according to the World Health Organization.
