Good day house
Please how should one tackle the issue of accommodation during visa application. I know it’s advisable to pay for school accommodation to increase ones chances of securing a visa but in my case where the school accommodation and meal plan is on the high side ( 9k for 7 months). Do I go ahead to make say 3 months deposit for a place outside school to show my commitment or have the money kept in a domiciliary account with financial statements to back it up. All I have for my living expenses for a year is 7k. I have paid one year tuition already and my school is in Ontario

I believe you don't need to "tackle" the issue of accommodation but rather your living expenses.

You'd need to show proof of fund in excess of $10,000CAD.

Just let go of the stress and have your sponsor balance the $7,000CAD in your dorm with $3,000CAD.

Having $10,000CAD in a dorm account shows you have fund to cover your cost of living for a year, unlike paying for a 3 months accommodation.

Just my 2.785 cents.

its only fornicators like u would stupidly mention my comment to write something foolish. It is called FORNICATION AND ADULTERY. It stinks before my God, God in the bible striked a lot of persons dead because of adultery and fornication. pls its an insult to God to mention his name in support of this kind of gross immorality.
If u wish to fornicate, go on and fornicate away ur life. Look at ur life, u open ur mouth to say sleeping with prostitutes makes everyone happy, u are FINISHED.
Wen u give birth to ur daughter teach her the business of being a prostitute or bow ur head in shame for encouraging such.

Babylonians

James 2:10-11

10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Go and read your bible sir.

No sin is greater then the other.

If stealing (no matter how little) equals fornication or adultery, then you are no better than that prostitute having sex at that "one corner" brothel right now; even more so if you lie about an issue as simple as "closing the fridge before bed" or for your comment above.

Don't argue with me, argue with your bible and maybe fix your life before you cast the first stone.

If you're interviewing soon and you really want that visa, I'd advice you create time to go read the part 2 from page 1 to the end and maybe this too.

There's a feeling that come with knowing and that's what you get from reading and taking your time to research.

Part 1, 2 and so far part 3 of this thread have unbelievable number of people with different cases and profiles. While I agree that no two people will have perfectly matching profiles, I'd also be inclined to say that this thread have had people that had profiles and challenges that are similar to yours.

No one here is a VO but many people on this thread are close to "seen it all". This is ambiguous but largely true.

Confidence, Luck, grace, call it whatever you want but preparation is key when facing the VO. The more prepared you are, the more likely you are to get the visa.

Some followers of this thread will come with narratives about how important a factor grace or luck is. Well, we all have a right to what we believe; but going by the number of success rate of supposed novice (that took their time to read and digest the thread) that got their VISA relatively against odds, the magic formula may just be something else.

I wish everyone luck, grace and whatever we believe in.

If she was so confident, she wouldn't be forgetting details of UK trip and that the car she came with already gone to the hospital. Or what is the definition of Confidence again?

She was just lucky the VO seem interesting in her story, so many things didn't add up. And some VO will deny someone for same reason regardless of how confident when your story are not adding up.

confidence

/ ˈkɒnfɪd(ə)ns/

noun

1. The feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something.

2. The telling of private matters or secrets with mutual trust.

I've been on this thread for about 2 years now. I was a total novice when I came here.

It's popular belief that 55% of communication is body language, 38% is the tone of voice, and 7% is the actual words spoken.

So confidence is key!

There's a way you tell me your the CEO of a company and I'd go "yeah...right" and there's a way you'd tell me you're a house maid and I'd respect you for it. We've seen a lady earning about N50,000 (and disclosed in her DS160) get her visa!!!

That is not true. I'm sure many people go to interviews confident and still get denied... and there are people who go with their hearts in their mouths who get visas. I believe it has more to do with whether you can prove that you have a valid reason to be in the US and can be trusted to use the visa as specified.

And we have seen many people with VERY valid reasons denied.

It's not a one way street bro. Everything here is relative.....and that was why I said "one" of the most important things.
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by HiredGames(m): 5:47am On Nov 19, 2017
I get really mad when people attribute Hardwork to Luck.

Common....let's be real here.

In my opinion, one of the most important thing when talking to a VO is your confidence. That transcript showed favourg05 was very confident.....and this was because she had an understanding of how the whole process works.

Many of ya'll go to that interview with your heart in your mouth and even more sadly spending more time to pray than actually prepare yourself.

I'm so happy for the quick responses i got up there, thank u very much. Now, lemme answer ur questions so that u pple can really put me through. The wife of My husband's friend had her baby in d USA few months ago, so my husband wants me too to go av my baby in d USA. She got a family visa o; her husb and daughter too later joined her after she put to bed although all of them are back home now. The entire plan is dt when my baby is a citizen, dt wl give me an acess to relocate later. So now we av paid to gtb and we want to book for interview. Since our purpose as stated on d form is for visiting, i was thinking dt if my belle is shooting out already they may suspect us. D was d same thing my hubby's friend did bt they had their interview in dec dt is y we too ar desperate for december. I know we have pple of better experience here, PLS PUT US THROUGH ON WHEREVER WE MIGHT AV BEEN WRONG. Should we choose march wen children wld b on holiday and my belly is already obvious or we can av d interview in january and tell them we want to go by march. Although if we later get the visa, i may go around May or June when im close to delivery.
Thank u.

The easiest thing to do is to lie to get a VISA.

The consequences on the other side is the bitter, hard to swallow part.

Let me tell you how it will pan out.

1. You'd lie at the interview that you are "not pregnant" and have no intention of seeking medical attention in the US. Chances are you'd get the VISA.

2. You'd travel (maybe not with a protruding stomach) and you'd be allowed into the US.

3. Give birth against the terms of the VISA you were issued and return home....maybe even get discount and medic aid.

4. You'd have a US citizen baby....so sweet smiley I want one too. For real cheesy cheesy

The bitter hard to swallow part is that you'd most likely want to renew your visa in 2 years and you'd be called in for a visa interview that'd see you denied and.....wait for it.......maybe banned.

Now ask yourself, what's the fun in having a US citizen as a son/daughter and not being able to enter the US? Maybe takes away the whole point.

What I preach is this, if it's worth doing at all, it's worth doing well. Go through the normal process and get your VISA.

So @Mr Smith has been forming busy(though I understand, the school system here is crazy). He has not told the house how he came and ate well cooked rice and stew the day he got into Vancouver. Even last Sunday I invited him to come and eat lasagna and coconut jellof rice. Its amazing how nairaland connects you to people. I couldn't pick him up from the airport cos I don't have a car yet. Will get a car next year and will be willing to pick up people as they come. For now, I can offer well cooked naija food of your choice when you arrive in Vancouver. Just PM me. Good luck to all TRV hopefuls.

For those who used MUN, is IELTS or TOEFL mandatory for nigerians?

Nope.

You will however need a letter addressed to the School of graduate studies of MUN from the school you had your undergraduate stating that your undergraduate was taught in English.

Yes! They do.

Your school can be the sender, but in this case you will have much to spend much time and money for you to request for your transcripts from the school and while the school sends it to MUN.

On the other hand, you don't necessarily need to wait for your school to send your transcripts to MUN, you can send it yourself.
What you have you do is walk into your academic administrative board request for your transcripts, pay your for student transcripts, once you get your transcripts make sure it is stampped by the school board and enclosed with the school OFFICAL sealed envelope. Send the transcripts to MUN using your school name as the sender, with your name as the principal applicant. I believe with this you are fine.

All the best!

You are the best!!!

My MUN colleague!, cool

I will advise you make use of UPS in as much as it's more reliable, fast, quick with an advanced tracker. It will take 5-6 days for your documents to be delivered to MUN from Nigeria. Also, the cost range is between 8k-10k.

I hope this information helps.

All the best in your application for admission.

Do MUN accept student copies of Transcript?

I thought the school was supposed to be the sender. Please illuminate me.

Thank you.
