CONTINUATION....
Yinusa Mariam Motunrayo (Best Medical graduand): “I am so happy because I did my parents proud; what you need to succeed is prayers and steadfastness. The University of Ilorin has provided very dedicated lecturers; they tried their best as much as possible.”.
Omole Samuel Oluwasunkami (Mechanical Engineering): God is relevant to my success story and at the same time, I balanced my time properly so it was not just academics alone. I studied my lecturers; I know what they want and that really helped me in my studies. The University of Ilorin has provided a very competitive and conducive atmosphere for learning which has assisted me to excel. I advise other students to believe in God, God is the foremost. They should take their studies seriously, when you work hard, success is very sure for you. Then, discipline is very important. Discipline will make you want to read when others are sleeping.”

Am Very Happy For u all esp Bro Omole Samuel(Conference Of Nigerian Christian Engineering Students' president,UNILORIN chapter). Education / First Class Graduands Share Experiences, Give Glory To God by HoluwadareY(m): 6:38pm On Nov 09, 2014
It was a beehive of activities on the main campus of the University of Ilorin penultimate week, as the institution turned out a total of 6,328 graduands during its 30th convocation ceremonies.
A breakdown of the graduands showed that 5,438 received their first degrees/diplomas while 890 got higher degrees/diplomas. A further breakdown of the first degree category shows that 48 came out with First Class, 1,190 Second Class Upper Division, 2,814 Second Class Lower Division, 1067 Third Class, 84 Pass, 18 Diplomas and 217 M.B.B.S. graduands.
In separate interviews with Unilorin Bulletin, some of the First Class graduands expressed gratitude to Almighty God and shared some of their experiences on campus:
Mubaraki Saheed Balogun, (Arts): “I give all thanks to God, He is the one who has made it possible, not by dint of hard work, not by might, but it is just by the doing of Allah. I have a flair for social life; I only did what other students do, which is reading. I did my best by making sure that I covered all of my texts before it is time for either tests or exams. My advice to other students who are yet to graduate is that if you are passing through school, you should also allow the school to pass through you; everything should be done with balance and moderation. There should be focus.”
Omojolowo Oluwafemi (Management Sciences): “I feel elated and I feel on top of the world; words cannot explain the amount of emotions going through me right now. I did some brutal reading but whether you like it or not, it is not by power but by God's grace. God's grace upon my life has been innumerable. Success is a means to the hands of joy and joy means, God first, others next and then you. Imparting others is very crucial to success on campus. Without the University of Ilorin, this probably wouldn't have been possible because I started enjoying scholarships right from my 100L, along with other scholarships. The lecturers, the academic environment, everything, the University of Ilorin is a place to be.
Atunbi Oluwatoyin Emmanuella (Civil Engineering): I feel very happy and elated; I am grateful to God that I worked hard and I came out successful. First, I prayed to God, and I mingled with my friends, whatever I do not know, I ask my friends and whatever they don't know, they come to ask me and that helped me a lot in giving me success. I attended few parties but not as much as some of my other colleagues. I advise other students to be focused, write out their goals and try as much as possible to achieve those goals.
Isiaka Babatunde Akanmu (Education): “Man's duty is to struggle, while Allah's responsibility is to crown efforts, I did not do anything. I just faced my studies squarely and I always back my hard work with prayer and that is all.”
Ibrahim Sheriff Tolulope (Department of Social Sciences Education): “I feel honoured and happy. I will advise other students on campus to be dedicated to their studies and they should put in more efforts because anything worth doing is worth doing well and at the end of the day, they will reap the fruits of their labour. You have to determine within yourself first, after that, you work very hard. They should please remember God in everything they do. University of Ilorin has assisted us in many ways, first, the University gave us qualified lecturers to teach us, and a conducive environment. Though many say it is stressful, life generally is stressful. So one should just try to learn what they are giving to you and once you learn there and you face greater challenges in life, you will excel. There is something I keep in mind, I help people a lot, and I believe in that; probably it is because I help people and now God is paying me for it.”
Erugo Faith Onyedikachi (Biochemistry): “It is God that made this success possible and my efforts too. I made sure that I attended all my lectures and did all my assignments. I studied hard and then I prayed, which is the most important because it is not by strength, it is just by God's grace. It is not that I am more intelligent than other colleagues but just God's grace which is the most vital thing. I did not have much social life on campus, but the only thing that kept me away from my studies were the activities in my fellowship, the Winners Campus Fellowship. My advice to other students is to always study and have a goal and do your possible best to achieve it. Putting God into all your activities and definitely, He will make it possible”.
Afolabi Ganiyat Kemi (Computer Science): “The University of Ilorin provided a challenging and enabling environment to study. We had great lecturers and the hostel life was fine. My route is from the class to the library and from the library to the hostel. My friends say I don't have social life but I don't think so. When I am not reading, I am on my phone.”

Education / 6 Most Challenging Courses To Study In Nigeria by HoluwadareY(m): 1:21pm On Nov 01, 2014
No course studied in the higher institution seems easy, but some are brutal and can snuff life outta you. However, don’t get afraid of them. They’re actually interesting. So grab a packet of popcorn as I take you through them.
1. Engineering: the name of this course speaks for itself already. The dudes that study this course eh…..*winks*. It undeniably houses all heavy weight courses in engine faculty like chemical engineering, mechanical, production, petroleum…etc..any guy you see rushing to lecture hall with a punching calculator, they’re engine boys o.
2.Medicine: What makes this course challenging, is because you’ll be forced to read(jack) like your life depends on the degree of knowledge you obtain from their heavy an bulky textbooks. Some of them actually do go for thanksgiving, when they pass their MBBS exam, that contains Anatomy, physiology and biochem.
3.Biochemistry: people usually think that it’s a combination of biology and chemistry. If you’re one of such, abeg, it’s a wrong impression. You will actually get familiar with Bio molecules and giant Organic structures, that will choke you up. This course requires much logic.
What makes it challenging,is that you’ll have to learn a lot within a short duration. Metabolic pathways might seem frustrating atimes…*winks*. Another thing about this course is that their lecturers are always sadists, due to long years of studying brutal carbohydrate and enzyme structures.
4.Chemistry: I call this course the power, because these dudes can mix chemical concoctions of Ammonia and HCL and blow everywhere…chem guys, I dey joke o….Its actually one of the most difficult in physical science, because you’ll make friends with differential equation in physical chemistry, which will leave you wondering if you’re studying maths or chemical reactions.
5.Pharmacy: Its already obvious.don’t know where to begin with this course. It overlaps critical aspect of chemistry. You hear stuffs like pharmacokinetics, drug metabolisms etc.
6.Architecture: the funny thing about this course is that it sounds cool and friendly, but when you get in,you know that not all that glitters are gold. You’ll get familiar with geometric drawings, optics and so on, which atimes is usually a pain to the ass.
That’s my submission. Any other, you can use the comment box. Thanks

hardbody:

There is no course or programme of study called 'Integrated Science' in the University. That name is used to amalgamate the basic sciences...Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Agricultural Science....to give fresh students in the Secondary School a general overview of the Sciences to enable them make an informed decision about what science courses they may choose as they progress in their academic sojourn. Students later settle down to a combination of any number of science subjects that lead them into studying courses like Pharmacy, Medicine, Agric Engineering, and all those other Science based courses.

Meanwhile i have said it severally, all degree courses are first steps to greatness. No course is cheap or should be underestimated. The medical student will at some point sweat in the class of History or English Language major. Even the brightest student will need to study hard to pass sociology. More importantly, hardwork and good fortune can place the supposed cheap and underrated graduate several steps ahead of you...

I ask again, how many Bank MDs/CEOs studied banking and finance as a course? it is still all these science related courses that most of them studied, and after passing competitive examinations for all students meant to streamline, they found themselves doing better than some of their contemporaries.

Go to school and put in your best to become the best you can. Simple

Happy Independence from dare-word!
29th of september ,2014 is a remarkable day in d history of Nigeria and in d lives of 313 worthy citizens of this great nation of ours. The president Dr.Goodluck Jonathan deemed it fit to reward some Nigerians who distinguised themselves in their own areas of specialization _from all walks of life. In my article "making impact in your world", i stated clearly that "u dont have to b a particular person or be in a particular profession before your impact can be felt". It might seem abstract before but now it is very evident from what happened on the said day.people from different professions ranging from politics, academic, entertaiment, sport, military, industry, art, science and the likes were recognised for their immenced impact in their field. As i was watching the program on NTA network something very amazing caught my focused attention.the president is ready to deliver his speech,i was surprised when he called out three men and one additional man, these men were hardly recognised during the award giving ceremony by people coz they are not from those highly rated professions like politics, industry or academics . They are just common Nigerians doing their common thing in an uncommon way, these men later turned out to be the most recognised. As Apostle paul said that "obeying your parents is the only commandment with a promise" so also these men's award were the only award with gifts attached out of the 313 elites! and that is what i called DISTINGUISHING YOURSELF AMONG THE ELITES.wow! So you dont have to join politics before u create impact?, you dont have to be a prof.?, you dont have to be a doctor or an engineer? You dont have to be those things, you can make impact in your field no matter where you find yourself;you can stand tall and be recognised with that thing you enjoy doing. You dont have to force yourself to be something you are not just because you want to be noticed.Let me conclude this writeup by quoting the speech of my amiable leader,a woman activist and a great patriot of India ,Indira Gandhi: "...some people think that only by taking up very high jobs you are doing something important or you are doing a national service. But we all know that the most complex machinery will be ineffective if one small screw is not working as it should and THAT SCREW IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS ANY BIG PART.It is the same in national service, there is no job that is too small, there is no person who is too small;everyone has something to do and if s/he does it well then the country will run well". HAPPY NEW MONTH& HAPPY INDEPENDENCE FROM DARE-WORD ,GOD BLESS NIGERIA .I remain Folorunsho Samuel Oluwadare, culled from: www.dare-word..com
