Can a dependent of resident permit B get work and switch to A?

Yes the dependent can work full time. If he/she is able to get a work permit, it’s better.

Not like I don't want to work, I'm only looking at the 5yrs plan towards citizenship and the vocational studies count only as 1.5yrs that's if I get an A permit or P permit. So I'm looking at the option of a degree since that's a guaranteed A permit. But if I will get a job why not I'm down for it as far as its going to land me an A permit or P permit. I hope you understand my view now ma/sir.

Yes. Work towards getting a job before you finish your vocational program so you can switch to permit A. All the best.

My question is, can someone work part time with the resident permit b while studying?
Yes you can work with residence permit B while studying.

Damn!!! This is crazy.... I thought after completing the vocational studied then I can move to to a bsc then get the permit A. Omo!!! This one choke

You can switch to a BSC as long as you’re done with the vocational school. But I don’t know how the residence permit switch will work in this situation. Maybe someone that is more enlightened can expatiate on this matter. Why don’t you want to work with your vocational certificate? That certificate makes you job ready, you might easily get a job in your field, even before you finish your studies and then switch to both residence permit A. Think about it. My 2 cents.

Hello sir/ma yes the information helps but what if I decide to purse another degree will it count please?

You cannot switch from residence permit B to A on the grounds of studies if you’re already there for studies. But you can switch when you secure a job after your vocational studies.

Please can someone shed more light on this, is it true that entering Finland through vocational school does not lead to Permanent residency? Am confused . I don't want my hopes of vamia school come january application window to be dashed just like that

Residence permit given for vocational school is permit B which doesn’t count towards permanent residency unlike Permit A that starts counting the day you resume your degree program be it bachelors, masters or phd. You can switch to work permit after your vocational program if you can secure a job, the work permit will count towards permanent residence. I hope this information helps.

I also applied to Vamia college. I pray to get accepted. The only issue I have with the residence permit issued for vocational school is that, it’s residence permit B, which doesn’t count towards permanent residence, unlike residence permit A which is given when you’re studying in a university to get a degree, and A counts towards permanent resident.

I don't know if they'll accept any documents in lieu of the consent letter but there's opportunity to explain why you can't produce whatever they require so let's hope you can find a way around it

I know sweden and UK actually allow such document, it’s even stated on their website but I am not sure about finland, been searching the web and haven’t found any useful information regarding that. I will explain my case if need be. Thanks all the same.

Hmmmm..... It's a bit tricky. There's a form PK04 (can't really remember the name) that the parents would fill on the enterfinland website. Also they'll need a consent letter from the parent not going with you.

Let me even ask, have you started filling the permit application?

No I haven’t. I just need to be sure so I can be guided on the best move.

Wow, thanks for this info. Very helpful.

Admissions into Finnish schools have gotten harder every year since 2017 and they'll keep getting harder. Finnish schools are quite considerate and I'm not surprised the option for online classes is still available.

I don't know what your specific situation is so can't say much. Your marital status, your program (BSC or Msc), the total program fees, your current financial situation etc will play a role in your decision and you have less than a week to decide.

In any case, Finland is quite affordable for a student and you'll not find it difficult to get a small job(s) that, diligently done, will generate enough to pay your fees and maintain you as Porvoo is a very economically active city by the sea. Inflation has been rife in Finland since the Russia-Ukraine war started but students are coping.

I wish you the best as you make your decision.

Please I need your advise. I intend moving with my husband and 2 kids for my maters. I want to ask if a sole custody document/family court order will suffice in place of consent letter from my daughter’s father (we were never married and I have been fully responsible for her upkeep for 10 years now, as he’s a NO SHOW).

The POF needed now is N4.6m for 1 year.

I don't know how to advise your case really. You'll have to do plenty thinking about it. Unfortunately, you have just days to do that. I can only wish you the best

POF is 4.6 million? Please at what rate did you do the calculation? I got over 6 million when I calculated.
