LeoDeKing:
Very balanced.

I don't care about where the ministers are coming from, but I still maintain that they're TOO much.

While I'm associated with the Keynesian school, I strongly oppose excessive growth of the public expenditure. Not at the period that the country is experiencing one of the worst fiscal sustainability issues.

The argument that more ministers with experience are needed to assist the government is ridiculous. The rise in the numbers of special assistants and advisors to the president has shown that the president does not actually need large ministers to function.

Except we would lie to ourselves, the country is broke. This is not the time to embark on unreasonable and overbloated spending.

Politics / Re: Is There A Single Road In South East With Sidewalks And Covered Drains? by Hpesoj: 5:04pm On Nov 10, 2023
Catapault:
I haven’t seen even ONE ROAD in the southeast with covered drains and sidewalks.

They exist in Abuja, in Lagos, in Uyo, Calabar, Gombe, Kano and Kaduna.

I have even seen some in Benin.

But southeast?

Nothing.

Just open gutters everywhere.

If you are a pedestrian in the East, nobody cares where you walk.

Why?

Here are examples from Abuja

You guys with these yeye dick measurements. I can bet my last card that you've not travelled to up to 4 states in the country.

To puncture your argument, I'll just ask you to check the pictures of the road from Lekki to Lakowe. There is neither drainage or sidewalk (the tiny place left has been overtaken by motorist) to start with. Now you need to go around Airport junction in Abuja to see open drainage or chanchaga to Bosso in Minna for same. I believe we also have something similar from Batagarawa to Katsina main market. Roads from Tsafe to Gusau in Zamfara and Birnin-Magaji, also in Zamfara, have open gutters. Same thing with the roads in Funtua.

These places are where I spend significant number of years. No just passing by. That I can point to few examples does not mean I can generalise.

The comparison is to what end? To achieve what actually?

This has been a restraint towards forward construction of that fly-over. Happy that after pacification of the deity, plan to demolish it have been drawn & finalized.
.
Wasn't easy!

Normally, you can't decide to demolish even a Church or Mosque without facing oppositions. These are tied to people's beliefs. We can't just wish it away. Soludo knew what to do before his initial gragra.

This is not the first time shrines are been relocated due to road constructions. It is not particular to Anambra, or Edo, or Rivers, or Osun, or Katsina, or Africa, it happens everywhere in the world.

The reason for high crimes is our low self esteem..

Nigerians have the lowest self esteem in the world..

The lower the self esteem the more crime..

Nigeria is an anti high self esteem society..

From the family to schools and society every one want you to have a low self esteem…. They want you to fly Low..

Clarify what you meant by Nigerians having loving self-esteem.

He is against idolatry and has been complaining bitterly against it, blaming the promise of protection offered by the babalawo power as the reason for the high level of crimes, kidnapping and security problems in his state.

Beyond the insults hauled at him by his opponents and the uncouth mob of mostly Igbo youths he is old enough to be their father, so far, nobody has intellectually engaged him or faulted him for waging war against idolatry for this strategic reasons after all he is not a member of the clergy.

It will be very interesting to read expert research report on the nexus between what Prof Soludo called idolatry and crimes in a society using the South East as a case study and how to resolve the problem.

Any culture that promotes crime and provide protection for criminals will not last , the stakeholders must have a clarity of the problem and how to tackle it from the root, particularly from the home and nuclear family, as he, Prof Soludo, once placed the problem at the feet of irresponsible parenting in his state and all Igbo Southeast states in general. Check my signature for free stuffs!

On the quoted, I thought I should inform you that there is a religion called Islam that has continue to exist despite promoting and providing protection for anything but peace.

U are extremely daft to say this roads are less than a year are you stupid, i schooled in ebonyi state and i graduated at 2018, this roads hace been there since 2016 or earlier, get ur fucking facts right

For someone that "schooled ... and ... graduated in 2018," I expect you to be able to communicate in a sensible and civil manner without resorting to insults and name-calling.

Fine, the roads were constructed in 2016. That's about 7 years. Now tell me, should roads constructed 7 years ago be this bad when there are are also roads in this same country that lasted decades (despite poor maintainance) before they take up the condition of these 7 year old roads?

If it is new to you that roads do last over 7 years and still be in good shape, I won't hold it against you, I'll just encourage you stop applauding mediocre project.

Needless to say that my comment have nothing to do with the governor or state. I don't care about any politician neither am I a fan of any.

While I don't like arguing with total strangers online and refuting their claims, I must say, based on your contradictory statement, you are a liar. I put it to you that you've NEVER been a meter near an airport, talk more of traveling to 50 African countries.

You don't need to rant about providing evidence that you've traveled or you own an airline, it won't be necessary as I wont be coming back to this post.

You're a self hater. Read sometime and see why Nigeria is called the giant of Africa. We have resources, money and brains. We should be using all this to our advantage to keep the other small and poor countries in line. Nigerians shouldn't be disrespected in any African country. This should be our foreign policy to destroy any African country who dared us

Nigeria is mainly referred to as the "giant of Africa" because of its large population. It was not until recently when Nigeria's GDP was rebased that her economy became the largest in Africa.

With regards to destroying any African country that dares Nigeria, I'd like to extend the greetings of the Nigerien coup leaders to you. The irony in your illogical and myopic view is that you're most likely against the expansionary foreign policy ideology of the USA, China and/or Russia.

Alusiizizi:

There is a reason why roads are built with tar, and why we need actual civil engineers, who understand the reason why uniform cement will always fail, to build those roads. Even roads that you find that are built with cement will be done block-wise with compressible buffers in-between each block because civil engineers know that objects generally expand when heated. In tar roads, the tar serves the purpose of both adhesive and flexible buffer between the stones that they are mixed with.

Ironically, Umahi, the governor who initiated and supervised the projects, is a civil engineer.

This is minor damage that will not cost much to repair....why blackmailing the man that changed the face of Dust of the nation( Ebonyi state)

For roads that are less than a year old, it is terrible. Either the contractors used substandard materials, or the project cost was heavily influenced by corrupt practices.

Standard road construction should be used for at least a decade or two before any repair should be initiated. Go and check most of the federal roads constructed in the 70s and 80s, they were still intact and require no repair until decades later.

I doubt. CranBurg is using the sam cement on the Lekki-Epe expressway. Dangote refinery also used the same. I believe it is more expensive and durable.

Uju Kennedy will be the first Minister to be shown the way out. That woman seems confused. It is either she is meddling in the matters of another Ministry or she is quarreling. My comment is not necessarily about the post.

Politics aside, what does the Ministry of 'women's affairs' have to do with communal clashes? Besides, in the meeting, there was no single woman.

I don't have an issue with the bullcrap you typed here because, understandably, your livelihood may depend on the extent to which you defend the actions and inactions of the government online. I am more worried about the 19 individuals that liked your comment.

I can believe that someone somewhere in Nigeria would support frivolous spending at this point when Nigeria's economic survival is tied to loans. This can never be about supporting the president or his party; it is pure wickedness!!!
