In Delta or some other oil producing states, the best hotels are found in the oil producing areas.
In Imo state, the hotels are in Owerri but not in oil producing Ohaji/Egbema area where oil money comes from into the coffers of IMSG, but the money is used in urban development of Owerri; sustaining all government institutions of development in Owerri; economically over-empowering the native land owners in Owerri area. You turn around to abuse me from Orlu, Orlu which is also cheated like Ohaji/Egbema areas. u well at all ? Na government dey build the hotels ? U are even wrong in rivers State obio okpo and port Harcourt local government are not oil producing lgas but the best hotels , are located there , meanwhile oil producing lgas are like shit hole |

I agree with you... Malls/Supermarket/Hotel, Owerri is gradually becoming the best destination to spend your money... Let the hotel's add Casinos and we'll gradually start having a mini-Vegas in the making
Make government just do their part sha, believing the violent news from Owerri stops, cos it's not helping the hospitality industry there sure it will stop |

If I may ask, this Ohaji-Egbema that seems to be the sugar for Imo state when it comes to oil production, I hope that area is fully developed? I hope the oil companies there are carrying out CSR by atleast helping to build roads, drainages, schools and health centres?
(Haven't been to that area before) for where ? Tho the place is still developing sha , most of the roads there are tarred |

I agree totally especially that inner ring road, a road that cuts across the four cardinal points of the city. Hope has done the first phase, which is Egbeada bypass, he should reconstruct spibat road and follow up with other sections of the road, like extending federal secteriate road to mopol junction at onitsha road etc. yeah Spibat road needs to be reconstructed .. |

asha80: they don't need flyovers..they need the full implementation of the owerri masterplan ( which includes full construction of inner and outer rings roads in Owerri) and extention of full road constructions to other parts of imo state interlinking various villages and towns we need tunnels , and hope should work on those flyovers rochas built , they shouldn't allow that flyover to rot 2 Likes |

Statistics has shown that Owerri is actually the fastest growing city in Igboland. Anyone in doubt can research on it. Also, by virtue of its centralized location and nearness to the oil hub, it has continued to receive high networth individuals (including diaspora Igbos and yahoo boys) that either would prefer to live in the city or at least visit it frequently. All these has contributed in making the city attractive for such investments because there is a huge demand for it. Another pointer to such high consumer spending in the city is how busy Owerri airport is. Most of those that pass through the airport will likely pass a night in the city too. true |
