Sharap your mouth, do you think being a mother is easy? Do you think building a career is easy? My young bro studies medicine in the USA n I know what medical students do pass through, n studying medicine abroad is easier than in Nigeria because its more practical. Now you want a lady who is studying such a challenging course to bear a child. Are you not a wizard? Are there no nursing mothers in medical schools?Do you mean to say the challenging nature of the course stops them from being a good mother and wife and at the same time coming out in flying colours. P.S..nothing is challenging if you really set your mind to achieve it,even in the most glaring adverse conditions! |

Biafraqueen: Hi guys,
I started dating a guy I really liked when i was on a waitlist for admission to study medicine . I got off the waitlist and decided to go to med school. He broke up with me because he didn't see the long term potential in us anymore .
He also raised questions of when I would be able to have kids and settle down (he wants to have kids before I turn 30 - ).
I am now terrified that I won't be able to find anybody because of my situation. This guy was so much of what I was looking for in a person and it hurts to lose him..... Being a female medical student ,is it a turn off Because this time i experienced the notion.
Thanks. See fine babe! Make this kind sweet babe dey treat person as doctor,dt illness wey dey worry person go just disappear viaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam ni Back to the topic! it's kinda obvious what you both wanted isn't really on par.Just get your priorities right. Would u risk getting the man of your dream and hope e listens to you when you try talking him into what you've always dreamed of careerwise and you both having a compromise OR Letting him go,fulfilling your career dream and at the end realising that getting a right man,one that fits your specs is more Herculean that one could ever imagine? Choose wisely sweetie! |

The truth is when you get to your 30s whether you like it OR not. You will come to realize that you should have made a decision about relationship earlier in life. There is no one that didn't get any Good Guy to approach them when they were in their 20s, Its either they were chasing career or not ready.
Even if you were heart broken or disappointed several times, it doesn't stop you from trying again. I had a discussion with my Senior Colleagues if they could marry a lady above 30. Out of 12, Only 1 said Yes.
Age is NOT nothing but a number. Once you are 30, Even if you are not desperate. Your parents/friends/society will make you desperate.
Even Men have their age limits. I asked women who are in their Early & late 20s if they can marry a Man around 40 or above. Out of 7, Only 3 said yes. No one wants to Also marry an Old Man.
Make hay while the sun shines abeg.
This might be a no-brainer, but Spiritual problems might also set in as a cause of Delayed marriage (So Prayer is needed too). This poster just wrote some words on marble.Reading this comment was pretty refreshing. .....,why? Because it got in it,elements of truth. PS:This thread has been created for about 1 and a half yrs now, perhaps the OP is in marital bliss already and if not,i pray so soonest. |

What is an African tribe?
The fact is that tribes emerged on our planet long before any states or governments. A tribe is a group of people with similar ethnicity. They share the same culture and the same language. A tribe is rather similar to a larger size family.
A larger tribe may consist of many families and clans. A smaller one would include tightly related people. They also share same political formation and have their own tribal rulers or kings. Formerly people from one tribe used to share the same land and live in the same villages or cities they have founded.
Presently, tribal people have scattered around the land and even around the globe. For instance, you can find large African Nigerian tribal diaspora in USA, UK, etc. Tribal languages are many. Presently scientists surely know of 1000 of them, but some suggest there are over 2000 of such languages in Africa.
20 top tribes in Africa known around the globe
Yoruba
The land: Nigeria, West Africa Population: 45+ million (over 20% of all the population of Nigeria). Language: Yoruba and English Religion: Christianity Yoruba was one of the tribes to greatly contribute to the slave trade. Many Yoruba were sold and brought over to America, Cuba, Brazil and Caribbean region. Interesting enough that many “American” Yoruba preserved the traditions of their motherland. In the past Yoruba tribe was a part of Oyo Empire. This tribe also stands out of the crowd as being one with the most population in the cities. Lots of Yoruba are highly educated people, tech savvy and industrious. The only Nigeria Nobel prize winner Wole Soyinka (poet and play writer) comes from Yoruba tribe. Pedi
The land: Northern Sotho, South Africa Population: 10 millions Language: Sotho Religion:Phasa – worshiping ancestors and gods Overall presently there are more than 7 million people in South Africa speaking Sotho language. This means the ethnic group is the second largest in this country. In the past the largest part of population of the tribe was involved in herding and farming. Later on many men moved to cities in search of employment. They work as migrant workers. Some Pedi turned to Christianity, but they were persecuted and pressed out of the land. Ndebele
The land: South Africa, Zimbabwe Population: 2/3 of South Africa population Language: Ndebele Religion:Zion Christian Church The tribe may call itself Manala or Amandebele. It is quite possible that in the past this tribe was a part of a larger Zulu culture, but they broke away following the King Shaka. The total area inhibited by this tribe covers over 400 000 sq. miles. In the past they practiced polygamy, but presently it is almost extinct. Presently it is one of the largest ethnic groups in South Africa. Venda

fero007:
VERY WRONG! 1.)Itsekiris are not yoruboid o, they only speak a yoruboid like language, they trace their history to Bini from prince Ginuwa, and ve been influenced by ijaw n urhobo, even their dressing, food, lifestyle is far from yoruba or is it only language that indicates a tribe
2.)Ikwerres speak an igboid language, but their dressing, food n dance is similar to the ijaws, even the name rumuighorhoya suggests Bini origin, (ighorhoya is an edo word and I'm 100% sure of that), the story of ikwerres may be same story of bonny
3.)Hope you know the term delta Igbo refers to 3 different groups, ikas, ukwuanis/ndokwas n aniochas/enuanis, I'm aware of the different dialects of Igbo (ngwo, mbaise, mbano, ndoki,e.t.c) and I agree that enuani is one of them. As for ukwuanis, beside language tell me anoda similarity they ve with Igbo, they were among the tribes that would ve been old delta state with capital at warri, while enuani were campaigning for anioma state. as for ikas, yes they answer emeka, kosarachi, onuoha, ifeanyi okowa but they also answer names like ozegbe, abah, these are edo names, they called God Chukwu(Igbo) n also call him Osakwe(Edo), the way you partially understand an ika man is same way an esan man partly understands them. So Language Cannot be used as the only avenue to indicate a tribeTaraba people speak Hausa language but are Jukun people As you see I'm nt just writing from what dem said somewhere, I'm very much on ground in Delta and Rivers states and know quite well what goes on there
Damn it! @bolded,why the fvck would you say that? I know you can't go there but please read some online articles before I can start correcting you. |

IkpuMmadu:
No body is arguing the tribes and brotherhood...in Ukwuani and Ndokwa these are clearly Igbo names and towns...they bears emeka , uche, nkechi and would they be closer to somebody that bears Osas, Ivie, Ogbene or would the be closer to people that bears same names ....oga stop decieving yourself....nobody is even talking about Benin here...because they don't want to be associated with them....I live their and Benin see them as ovbe Igbo
Ukwuani, ikwerre, Ndokwa , igbanke are all igboid tribes just like ijebu, egun, egba , itshekiri, akoko are yoruboid tribes
Grow up Biko To make this argument simpler, the classification has to be broader to YORUBOID,IGBOID as highlighted by the bolded. This is so coz the languages spoken are mild or high modification of the parent language and the truth can only be inferred from their names. PS:The complexity of Nigerian languages and the heterogeneity of other minor tribes/ethnic groups can run anyone mad. |
