Thank you so much for the point. God bless you
Geenosko:
Summary.

If SAA is not your thing,
Rwanda air and Ethiopia air give very affordable prices just plan your journey.

Travelling to Ghana for the sole purpose of catching a "cheap flight" to SA isn't worth the stress unless of course you are doing it for the thrill.

And let me correct the impression that having plenty stamps on your passport reduces the probability of officials disturbing you at the airport. That's not necessarily the case. Even frequent travellers have to deal with them often. Just ensure that you know your rights and stick to it.

Don’t be worried, I believe it took 15 working days for mine to come out. So you’re still within the time frame. Lastly do remember it’s Christmas holiday. So that may also be Factor in when calculating the timing..

If he comes to Ghana by road it will be very good. I mean bro that’s you going through different countries and having your passport stamped through the borders. Estimate from Naija to Ghana by road should be 20K for a virgin passport like yours. I live in Ghana and I came by road on my last trip and it was my first time using the road with my passport too. It was fun, met new people and experience the borders. I don’t know about you but I love adventure. You will still save trust me, because SA airways is now about 240K return ticket from Nigeria and Ghana is even worse using the airline. Too expensive. Also using Nigeria airport to SA as a newbie traveler them go wan chop your pocket for airport o. Last thing, please don’t forget to carry your yellow card. Also know that AirNamibia only fly weekend from Ghana. The traffic here no much like Naija.
mrLj:

he should travel by road to Ghana, its just hours away.
that $200 go help pay for his feeding while in SA for some days.

I think am in good position to advise you on this. Lol. Alright congrats on the visa. On cheap flight, I’ll probably advise you buy if from AirNamibia but it should be that you’re flying from Ghana, why because they’ doing serious promo in Ghana. Apart from the fact that you will save almost $200 or more, you will also transit Namibia which is a plus on getting your passport more tattoos and Ghana own too will be included. As for cheap accommodation, abeg use Airbnb but find a good neighborhood, SA is crime capital, remember. But I think Airbnb is really cool and cheap, I got some both in joburg and Cape Town and I’ll be there January. It’s my first trip to the place and I pray it will be fruitful and fun. Estimate on ticket from Ghana to SA through airnamibia is $460. That’s what I paid for mine. And you can transit there without their visa since you got SA visa and SA is your destination. I hope this helps you. To my SA people sorry for the “crime capital” remarks. It’s just what google feeds everyone online..

Hello House, finally I got my visa though it came late, I suppose to attend an event last month but I couldn't make it because my visa came late. But thinking of traveling to SA to spend few days with the visa by January this will be my first time of flying out of Nigeria. I need an advice on how to book cheap flights and accommodation, how can I also get visa of countries close to SA on this same trip.

Gurus advice needed.

Good day good people, please can I use my EcoBank MasterCard in South Africa? I heard they are in partnership with nerdbank. Please let me know. Thank you
Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by iamkingrobert: 10:53pm On Dec 22, 2018
I understand you, thanks a lot. Anyway am not flying from Nigeria. Am a Nigerian but I don’t live in Nigeria. I know my mmia people. Lol May God help Nigeria
Geenosko:

They don't ask for bta at OR thambo but those beggars in uniform at mmia may tell you that's it not enough, so you will have to stand your ground.

If you are a minimalist spender $300 may be enough for you by whiskers but if you have access to other funds, you are good to go.

The major issue are those uniformed rogues at mmia
Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by iamkingrobert: 9:09pm On Dec 22, 2018
Not exactly, my interest was wether they ask for declaration of bta. I like using credit card, don’t like carrying lots of cash on me that’s why I asked. Thank you
Js22621:

$300 for 10 days? That's about R4000 for 10 days which means R400 per day! (Feeding, transport?) You can't survive with that amount either in Johannesburg,Pretoria or Cape Town. Here at OR tambo airport no one will ask for ur BTA.
Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by iamkingrobert: 11:40am On Dec 22, 2018
Good day guys, please if you’ve already paid for your accommodation and have your return ticket will $300 cash be enough to for a 10days trip?

And I’ll like to know if they will ask to see how
Much BTA you have at the airport in Johannesburg

Hello @Justwise the wise one and @Manager I have a quick question. It seems SA only gives you a visa per what you requested as I got 10days since I requested for 7. I have a friend that want to apply, please what could be his best reason if he really wants to get up to 90days visit visa?

Also I have Airbnb receipt for my trip, will I be ask to show it at the point of entry?

And please I need to also know if I’ll be given a transit visa in Namibia airport because have bought their ticket because it was very cheap than SA Airways. Please help me. Thank you
Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by iamkingrobert: 6:59pm On Dec 17, 2018
Well i got the ticket from their office in Ghana and they said i don't need a visa to transit if i have a SA Visa since my destination is SA. I believe a Transit VISA is issued at the Point of Entry.

How possible for a Nigerian to transit Windheok without getting their visa here? Is it possible to get it at the point of entry?

Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by iamkingrobert: 7:55pm On Dec 11, 2018
Yes it is actually true that it takes 10 to 15 working days. That was what mine took at the VFS office in Lagos.
FabioPeter:
At Lekki VFS Centre, I was given the impression that it takes 10 to 15 working days to process the visa. The report on this thread is contrary.

I want to add this quick tips from my experience at the VFS office at Lekki. Please don't bother make photocopy outside the office with those people, too bad it looks like am spoiling their business but am also trying to save you money. 1, theirs is expensive and when you submit at VFS they will not accept it because it is never clear like they want it. 2, VFS only charge you 100 naira for photocopy and it's very clear and they accept it. I spend about 1500 Naira outside and at the end the document was regected. 3, Try and go as early as you can because the cue can be really long. 4, put all your document in an A4 envelope and please take your Yellow card there too because you might have to make a new copy there. 5, Five stands for "Grace" so pray to God for grace so you can be given, it is not by your document. 6, They accept 3 months Bank statement at the Lagos consulate and please try and have at least half a million naira as closing balance. That was what i had and i only opened the account 3 month prior to that day and i got the Visa, thanks be to God. I hope all this helps someone, when am back from SA am sure i will have some tips to share with you too. God bless you all and thanks to those have been learning from. People like Manager007 and Justwise, God go bless una ooo. The Visa total cost for Visit Visa was less than 30K. I don't remember the exact but it is less than 30K, I was the first person they attended to also, So try to be the first person too. Maybe that is also a good thing because it what sum up your Ref number at the end. GodSpeed.

Okay, thank you very much. Well am traveling from Ghana, I actually base in Ghana and the flight ticket is very cheap here, am using Air Namibia and they are during serious promo here. Have gotten the ticket since i also get the opportunity to transit Windheok and a layover of 7hrs. I only hope say them go treat person nice anyway. Lol thank you so much, FYI guys if you want to fly to SA soon, then buy the ticket from Ghana and you will save lots of dollars. God bless you all. Manager God bless you ooo.
Manager007:

@iamtheking

Yes by all means i would also recommend AirBnB. I also use it whever in the world i travel. And you get good deals.

BUT, last time someone i know used it, the Immigration officials at Murtala Airport delayed him. They kepr askin for "Hotel Booking" even when he produced his paid recipt from AirBnB. In the end they said there's "First Time Traveller package" that he needs to pay. After being delayed, in the end the pooe dude succumbed and gave them some thousands of Nairas before he was allowed to board.

Manager007:

@iamking

Yes, its possible to extend your stay via medical grounds and other reasons. But, as you have been advised, rather spend the 10 days and return.
I need to ask though, how long did you state on your Visa application form that you intend to spend im SA?
