Celebrities / Re: Davido Honoured With A Chieftaincy Title In Ibusa, Delta State by ibnew: 1:29am On Dec 02, 2019 |
This is rubbish. Abusing our traditional institutions. We virtually have nothing left. We continue the abuse from where the British left it. Chief and other titled men are respectable people in the society who have over time and consistency proved to be reliable and trustworthy. There are process to follow. On the other if a son indigene or not have done something remarkable there are ways of giving recognition to that person. You don't just throw titles around. Just like when they say Governors give staff of office to a traditional ruler. How? Does he know the process the community use in getting there king. Does he have the traditional instrument to give to him. The British came and destroyed the traditional institutions for there benefit and we continue. Can any government in UK change, appoint or give staff of office to the queen of England? It has it's own process. Well, why am I complaining. Nothing has respect in Nigeria only money whether ill gotten or not. It does matter who you are. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hey guys let's take it easy. Many of those and more dead and deteriorating ones were abandoned on Ibadan terminal. They have working for weeks fixing the rails realigning the rails. They have been using tourch fire to cut and remove those that can not move with cranes and trucks. What they are doing is push the old abandoned wagon to a place the crane can lift them into coming train for onward transmission to the railways works ward in Lagos. In short they have clearing and rehabilitating Ibadan Terminal. |
Business / Re: How Banks And Bankers Are Getting Richer Through Foolish Dead Husbands by ibnew: 7:19am On Jul 22, 2019 |
For all of you doubting or saying it’s not true better do something. I have been personally involved in 3 cases involving lawyers and spouses. Even you bankers saying it not true. It is very very very true. See it is when the person dies you will know law o! One obvious mistake in any of the document is wahala. I will not go over those cases that I can support with lawyers chambers and names but I give just one that got me baffled. The man is a multi billionaire and went overseas for treatment and it got worse. We went into comma. Off course the account officer and bank know they facilitated the transfer of the initial medical trips bill. They needed more money and the man in coma can no longer do transfer nor sign a check. They wife came back as next of kin to see what see can do. Na lie o. The man must sign o! They came with medical reports video of the man on bed, video calls to the hospital na lie o. They say as long as she did not say the man is dead and start the legal procedure. The man was in coma for weeks and died. As at that time the lawyer was handling another one which the man died. It took about more that a year for the bank to finally come out with who the NOK is because according to them they cannot trust anyone. Were they doing there own investigation NO! If you are blessed with the type of banker in this case that are ready help you thank God. They don’t come easy. Even after the NOK was known the bank keep this game of this document that document. After that even though my wife is my next of kin, I made her signatories to all my accounts. At least it will help her and children before as they begin to find their feet. God forbid anyways. My ATMs are with me it’s not like she hold the bank materials. Theses are women I have met. It is very true and correct. For banker who knows the way please advise and we pray we met those with a good heart that will make the process simple. Amen. 3 Likes |
Health / Re: Photo Of A Lady Making Palm Oil Locally Goes Viral by ibnew: 4:34pm On Jun 19, 2019 |
Hey guys as much as i agree that the level of hygiene is low, but the process is not all that dirty. Let me also say that this is the traditional way we have beening doing it and the black race has not got extinct from palm oil infection. First of all the palm nuts are cooked for hours before they get in there. They will still be warm when the marshing will start. After which the floating crude palm oil collected will still then be cooked for hours at high temperature untill it is considered done for consumption by the local expert/qaqc. This most times is known by zero presence of water that is when the water vapour is seen to have ceased and or by colour on a white background. The final product is packaged when hot and allow to cool before final storage because it will be difficult to handle when cold. I think we should give the inventors kudos and the young engineers should be thinking of new invention with improvments. Did we ever wondered how the first surgeries were done those days. 1 Like |

What of if somebody gets married with a good job and later loose the job will he send his wife away? I have a cousin who was looking for job and planning marriage. Everyone including his family was like why is this getting married without a job. How is going to cope. Even though i felt same way but i trust the guy na heavy hustler anything goes. Guess what, he got a job with federal ministry of finance 3 weeks to the wedding. We all supported him through school. Trust me we did't know about the job. He just applied all over(Police, immigration, FIRS, Ministry of finance etc). Though marriage definitely need some kind of money for running and upkeep but anything can happen. In fact whenever there is a un-serious guy, people advocate for marriage maybe the responsibility will wake him up. There is no one straight approach I think. Only God can tell. But the guy should seen to be focused, determined and with plans. 1 Like |

HTC do not have long time support for their phones period. Why will I spend so much on a phone and throw it away the following year just because you refuse to update it. People are going high tech. Phone is no longer a call device. They are also damn expensive. Models are few, no low end models and marketing is poor. Good quality phone maker sorry to see them going down but if they don't learn, they will go with bb, nokia. Nokia is trying so hard to come back though. |

Exponental:it's not about custom documents or contrabands. If you have documents its either you under pay or fake papers. We still see contrabands everywhere. Those who deals on contraband know how they do it. Questions that needs answers are for those cars that come from the ports how do they get pass customs with those anomalies. Why don't we develop a process where at the end you are issued a import clearance certificate and that's all. Who prepare the fake papers and under pay papers. Why do you choose to harass innocent citizens who don't do or understand import process when car dealers diaplay their cars everywhere and you don't go check. But wait till someone buys one and you start chasinhg them. Bill of landing does not mean anything to an average Nigeria and it is not suppose to as process would have taken care of that. All he needs is a purchase receipt. Apart from a few individual and politician who buy car directly but even then still use certified agent and pass through the ports. IT'S A SHAME ACTUALLY. We always behave in Nigeria as if the babaric oppressive way is the only way to handle issues. Where as in advance, developed or developing world, they sit and think of way out without much loop holes and easy to monitor. Why don't Nigeria synchronize the vehicle system so you can't register a vechicle untill it is properly cleared. That way the buyer goes back to dealer and say come pick your car am not buying because i can't register it. That way dealers will do proper clearance, custom stop harassing registered cars and causing accident. Was expecting the new custom boss to think in this direction but was commanding his boys to go after the public. What a shame. Do any one remember the ECMR case of the police in does days. It was hell driving on Nigerian roads. That was smartly replaced by the police clearance at point of registration. 1 Like |

Statsocial: It amazes me how we run to the Old Testament to justify thing we do. Are we still building tabanacles? Are we still building temples? Then what did christ came for. Is'nt our body now the temple of God or am i not reading the bible correctly. Doing the work of God is good any day. After penticost they went about preaching the word and setting up people (churches) not mega structures. Let us remember to also reach out to the need. Let us continue to build organizations and industries that will employ and help the need and positively affect the economy. The missionaries came to Africa to help educate including oversea scholarship and expose us when Africa was poor. They built schoola and make it affordable for our forefathers to attend. Children of peasant farmers. They could have continue to build their mega structures and may be you and I will not be where we are today. |

dopedealer:Good talk. Why is it always about nepotism. This thing is robbing us from seeing clearly and critizising constructively. Why was bank mass retrenchment not nepotic. I remember correct me if am wrong, when Buhari assumed duties in asu rock this isues came up. There were some disgraceful disagreement in the presidential security because some allowances that we being paid before were no longer paid. The head of security then said that the payment is not official and there was no record of it any where. How does he account for it and under what line item in the account will he put it. He tried to explain to them that it is not sustainable and cannot no continue. He said what is rightfully theirs will never be denied . The payment were flivorious payment given to them as compensation from the wantom looting that was going on. I remember that led to mass deployement of DSS operatives at ASU rock. There was also change of security heads.DSS is a very high security outfit of the nation. Their information is not market women stuff. And everybody has right to his opinion anyway. It becomes criminal when you start forcing it on people. Let us be mind full of what we read and where we go with it. I remember a Tribune reporter who covered 2 pages of the newspaper with pupported interview with Prof Sagay. When the prof denied and paper management investigated. He confessed he has never met the prof and he was paid to write. He was subsequently dropped by the management who applogize to the prof. But am sure before that the nation would be saying prof Sagay said this or that. This trend of media is dangerous. Let us help the nation. I dont have any i don't know about you. There is no place without any level of favouritisim it is just being properly managed. |

I feel pain when I some bigotry statment wailing around here. I know its human, we must complain but the way some of us do it is appalling. Do we know the meaning and value of national anthem to a country and a people. The words are carefully chosen and written to pass a message. it is not any of 2 Face or Davido songs. It is required for any public office to know, understand and hold dear. What is he/she doing there if they do not know what our value system is built upon. No wonder they have no respect for the nation, it's people and fallen heros. check out the meaning online. For the fact that most of us does not know it does not make it right. In those days, that's the first thing you are thought when you can read and write after your first few years in primary school. In my opinion, i think we should be concerned more of what is right and wrong. That is what will build a nation. I understand our diversity but we can make correction on the path of right value system. Who says the rest of the advanced world is one tribe. but their value system is strong. we keep shouting hausa Ibo Yoruba, i ask, does the bad roads not led to accident and deaths of all of us, does the epilleptic power supply not affect us all, do we not go to the same market, does fuel scacity not affect us all. Let us think act and critizise wisely. Constructive critizisim will lead to greater tomorrow. |

hello all, am not here to sing Vincent praises neither am here to hail Oliseh but to look at the matter the way I FEEL. I may be wrong though. If we go back to history, I can't remember Vincent refusing to honour any call to play. He has been one committed and loyal guy. Over years, he has try played for the nation. I also did not read about any complain from him. A guy looses mother and in the middle of the burial honour a call only for him to get to camp and coach says he is not expecting him? Common guys, that is the beginning of humiliation. Even if initially you were thinking he will not be available, as plans begin to thicken, as a coach you should know that he was coming. Without a word with him personally, you went ahead with the announcement at a meeting. It is sign that someone lack leadership skills. Personnel management is key in team engagement. Am not saying he should use him at all cost but management of that scenario is less than adequate. Vincent too should have sort for private attention from him. I guess it was reactionary from him because it felt like he was loosing everything. Many of us may do worse things under these circumstances. If you are a team leader and/or have people working under you, you will understand what am saying. It is not a master slave relationship though without forgetting who the boss is at the same time. I don't think Vincent is thinking he is not replaceable. We played while he was a way and the keeper did well. A coach is like a senior brother to the boys. They should be close but not mates. That is only when you create a bonding team and a lively camp. 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Oyo State Governorship Result:majority Are Not Happy by ibnew: 11:23am On Apr 13, 2015 |
I think it is better we look at issues all round and move away from this socisl media hype and band wagoon opinions. As we are getting more educated, let's also try to be more informed. This will help us make decisions or form opinions that are close to reality. I will start by asking, did the schools just went bad during Ajimobi? whatever is bad now did not go bad overnight. Good and sustained governance is long years of performance handed down from tenure to tenure. we talk about destruction of house, what do they want, build the house in the line of flow of water and put the life of thousands in danger through flooding. if that structure is approved by government you can pull a case. They say stores on the road. For the fact that one government turned a blind eye and you move your table of articles to the main road does not make it right. There are approved set back for road in nigeria. If you are using the space in one government does not make it right. You are just trading on borrowed time. Edo, Lagos, Ogun and others cleared the street for decongestion of roads and futher development. In one of the post, somebody rightly described what has happened to govt allocation for sometime now. You would expect that allocation will be going up if the federal govt wants more people in jobs but it was cut. cost of barrel of oil is still down. This will limit what the government can do with the reduced allocation in the face of these huge underdevelopment. Right now, correct me if am wrong Ajimobi is collecting less than what previous govt were getting and they did't do this development. What is happing to most of the state is that they wanted to deliver the gains of democracy to the people but their plans were cut short due to the cut in allocation. They are being forced to look inwards to sustain it. We will still shout ah! we were not paying so and so tax in so and so era. What Ajimobi has done in this short time is impressive. I will agree he took on too many projects. It will seem like biting more than he can chew. Building and opening of drainage and road construction are heavy capital project that even the federal government is afraid of. He is no God. will not dissolve the challenges away just like that. Not paying workers and retirees is BAAADDD!!!! The people that are crying no money are those who think public money is for sharing. The previous administration has created the bad impression such that doing business in any govt office in Oyo is a real pain in the ass. The surprising thing is that people are crying along with them. They are calling for sharing of what belong to all of us and we think it is right. I live and do business in Oyo state. Constructive critizisim is good, let us do it with fact to bring the best out of our govt. I don't believe in bring down syndrom. You can not satisfy everyone anyway. Am not a card carying member of any party but I belong to the party of Good governance. We pray he continue from where he stopped. 2 Likes |
Culture / Re: A Brief Historical Origin Of Ibillo Community In Edo State by ibnew: 11:02pm On Mar 13, 2015 |
It is interesting to see all these here. I will say we are still looking for information and fact to confirm the origin of Ibillo. Am aware there are some written records. The word "from Benin or Yoruba" as stated in the text does not say exactly where. Then again even Benin has been historically proven to be from Yoruba. What I know is - in the days Ibillo was under the Kukuruku division, administration was from Ikare. During the colonial era Ibillo was the local center through which other villages were reach. There was a district office in Odo quarters. Those are the colonial building that was serving as customary court in Odo. Later on, Education and educators came from them Ikare area. The first alphabet that our forefathers were taught was Yoruba alphabet. It was a kind of colonization. Yoruba was adopted as general language then because we have the okpameris, the Ososos, the Unemes, the Okpes and other Yoruba communities like Oka, Oba, Isua, Ikakumo around us. Our fathers Yoruba fluently. There were inter-marriages, trade and other administrative activities. We imbibed the tradition, names and dressing. It was not new to us because some how our roots interwove. When Mid-west state was created, we were cut into it with some Yoruba towns Ikakumo, Imeri. Isua was cut into Ondo. Center of administartion changed to Benin and Auchi. Recently there have been moves to have our children bear our language names. English and Okpameri (Ibillo version) is being widely spoken. Most youths of today don't understand or speak Yoruba. Please correct me if you have more facts. Apologies for any miss-spellings. Proudly IBILLO. 10 Likes |

I have an observation to make. I may be wrong. I noticed that when ever things like this happen we just post comments (sympathy, curious, angry, frustration, and sorrow). I do not notice any effort to help correct, manage or report the issues. Am not saying we should start solving the issues. We have human right organizations, the senate committees and other agencies that could help. It is somebody's turn today it could be me or you, our sisters, wife, brothers etc that will be affected tomorrow. I think a forum like this should have a section where there are link to the agencies that we can reach. we may even have some members who work in those agencies. There could be section for police issues, custom/import wahala, medical issues, security information/awareness. Members who are knowledgeable in those areas could help us or direct us to where these issues could be attended to. The excesses of the some govt/law enforcement agencies are getting to much. Only the high, mighty and connected are free Nigerian. There is no right or voice for the common man. Am sure this will add value to members. We can begin to gradually cause the needed change we are talking about. we have to move away from "e no concern me becos it will one dey". I think nairaland is a force. |

It is not about doing anything wrong. It is not also about whether is done elsewhere. For example, gay and marraiges approved elsewhere does not mean it should be approves here or there. It is about get legal registration and approval for what you do. I remember a day care owner that was picked up and premise sealed in USA some months ago because he was not registered and did not met the conditions. As for breaking the house, I don't anything wrong. Nigerians do everything to bend the law. If you consider your loss, you will think twice about your criminal venture. Even a landlord will make enquires before giving out house for whatever purpose. If you are the owner, you know that if you do not end in jail, you will loose your property. This will teach some of us lessons. If there are no places for criminal activities, the rate will drop. |

When I read comments on topics like this I just wonder where Nigeria is going. I am not here to like or dislike any comment. I just want to make general comment. First let me appeal to who ever it may concern to pick the message and not the grammar or spelling checks. The level of corruption and the way public fund is wasted in Nigeria is more than alarming. The most painful thing is somebody will stand up in defense because of ethnicity, friendship, religion or political affiliation. As the literacy level in Nigeria is increasing, one would have thought that more people will see things objectively. For a country to move forward, we have say what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong not minding our affiliation because that is the truth. What most of us do not understand is we are been cheated, birth right as Nigerian taken away by this waste. Our children future mortgaged, education destroyed, our women and children deprived of good medical care, graduates have no jobs, etc. How can a country that cannot provide 24hr power spend that much on cars. I do not think the car for the American president is as expensive as that. A senator in Nigeria earns more that president Obama. Yet is it American that we rush to for greener pasture. How many senators do we have? South Africa generate about 36,00mw of power but we are struggling between 2 to 3,000mw (not sure of the current value). Like somebody said earlier, may be other ministries are doing the same. How much is all that at the end of the year yet we are taking loans. Can somebody tell me any good and reason why Lagos Ibadan road has not been fix. People are dying every day. All most Everything imported through the sea and used to build Abuja came through that road. Major national commercial activities and material and goods movement goes through that road and whoever the president has been did not deem it fit to fix that and other roads. The minister of aviation was quick to declare the plane crash as art of God. preliminary investigation from black box say there was warning signs from the computer on board. The pilots had arguments on the faulty flap warning whether to fly or not. Somebody is increasing tariff on the used cars, can somebody tell me any car manufacturing company in operation or that is being constructed. Price of car goes up, spare parts goes up. you are saving 550bn for 700,000 jobs. what a good economic decision. car will still come, other countries will benefit, masses will suffer. What about dropping tariff for car manufacturing equipment, build the cars at good prices. Who will not like a new car. The thing is, we have a government that do not care about the people but them self. If we do what is right in policies, budgeting and implementation, may be we will not get to the this security situation that will call for bullet proof cars. Where are the bullet proof cars for me and you. Are we not humans or do bullet don't kill us. The cost of living is increasing, government tax is increasing and the money get wasted. In countries where there is some level of accountability the money is used to provide for the people.
