EFCC nabs three persons for Naira racketeering. Three persons have been apprehended by the operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in connection with suspected racketeering of N1,307,400.

The spokesperson of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Oyewale said that the suspects, Musa Gideon, Abdul Adamu, and Justine Musa were arrested along Yakubu Gowon way, Kaduna on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, while trying to sell new naira notes to an EFCC undercover operative. The statement explained, “The operation yielded the arrest of the three suspects selling new and old naira notes to the tune of N1,307,400 and many Automated Teller Machine cards.”

Nigerian Army arrests suspected kidnapper, Salisu Dangani after gun duel in Ekiti. The Nigerian Army special forces, deployed by the Chief of Army Staff to boost security in Ekiti State have arrested one of the suspected kidnappers terrorising Ikere/Igbara Odo axis of the state.
The suspect, who gave his name as Sanusi Dangani from Kano state, was arrested less than twelve hours after the special forces arrived the state.

A portion of the Dunukofia Local Government Area office building in Ukpo, Anambra State, has been completely destroyed by fire.
It was reported that bush burning near the local government building was the cause of the late-Wednesday fire outbreak.
The incident at the LG secretariat on Wednesday was confirmed by Martin Agbili, the fire chief for Anambra State, who stated that it began at 6:53 p.m.
According to Agbili, "Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call of a heavy fire outbreak at Dunukofia at approximately 18:53hrs (6.53 pm) on Wednesday."

Bandits have threatened to marry the newlywed bride they abducted and sell off 55 wedding guests. The armed bandits abducted women who were accompanying a newly-wed bride to her matrimonial home in Damari, Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State. This audacious abduction took place last Thursday as the bandits targeted the bride and her companions while they were traveling in an open van in the Sabuwa area. During the unfortunate attack, the gunmen killed at least four members of a vigilante group.

Villagers report that at least 55 wedding guests were abducted during the attack and have been held hostage since then. In a video circulating on social media, the bandits were seen threatening to marry the bride and sell the other captives if the ransom was not paid promptly.
