Business / Things They Told Us That Is No Longer Applicable In 2017 by importexpert(m): 3:13pm On Mar 13, 2017 |
There are certain things that almost every one of us have heard while growing up. Those who counseled us were doing so in all honesty and arrived at those conclusions because of the situation of things around them. But in our time, the story has changed. What worked then has become obsolete in out generation. Following such advice today is dangerous because the world has evolved beyond such. Here are five things that we were told and how they are no longer applicable. 1. Go to school, get good grades and a job will be waiting for you. This is one of the worst deception that anybody can believe today. This statement used to be true in 20th century. Very few people were educated and it created a huge need for literate individuals. Today, the table has turned and that advice is a dangerous one to give any young man. The number of educated Nigerians have exploded beyond projections. The number of those that apply for jamb alone is huge. the labor market is saturated is an understatement. Telling anybody this is to set them up for disappointment. There is no job waiting for anyone. If you will eventually get one, you'd better be ready to go "hunting". 2. Live by the rules We were all taught to live by the rules of the society. Even our schools had rules. We were forced to move within the confines of laid out societal opinions. Our acceptance was dependent on whether we played by the rules. If anyone moved out of it, he was regarded as an outcast irrespective of the results they have. In today's world, anyone living by rules rarely rule their world. The world celebrates those who living outside the rules because this is how creativity and ingenuity is born. Thomas Edison, while working on an invention, was told by his assistants about the rules they were to follow. Thomas replied him, "Damn the rules. We are trying to invent something here." Does that tell you anything? 3. A job is the best thing a graduate can have Like I said earlier, this used to be true, but not anymore. Sadly, most graduates have not realized that the game has changed. They spend their time trying to get a job. And a good paying job at that. Some of them have lost months and maybe years of their lives while trying to get a job. Do you know why? Because they believe what they needed the most was money. Their hunger for a job has blinded their eyes to the opportunities around them. Their desire for quick money has made them miss valuable opportunities. If what you expect is not forthcoming, look around you. It just may have been there all along, in disguise. 4. Having a white collar job automatically makes you rich This is largely untrue. Sitting in an air-conditioned office does not necessarily mean that a person is well to do. Go figure how many bankers sit in air-conditioned banking halls but are still broke. The job may meet your needs for the moment, but it is not going to give you money as you desire. Lack of job security has worsened the situation. The best way to become financially buoyant is to create something of yours. Start a business of your own. Build it and watch it grow. This is the surest way to financial freedom. 5. You need huge capital to start a business Nothing could be farther from the truth. If you believe that you need big money to make money, it is most likely true that you cannot make money. The basic necessity for a business is not money but ideas. Capital will always flow to anybody that has a good business idea and relentlessly acting upon the idea regardless of the obstacles obstructing him. in most cases, if the idea is valid and logical, it will require little capital to start it. Anyone who wants to immediately open a business in a big way most likely will not be able to cope with its growth and magnitude. If you have a business idea, start small. And then nurture it like a baby till it grows. Don't waste your time looking for huge capital. Finally with the rate of unemployment and underemployment in Nigeria, Nigerians need alternative income generating sources online. this is because, most legitimate online jobs never get saturated and requires a little or no capital. the form of online job that Nigerians have just started becoming aware that it is highly lucrative is affiliate marketing. affiliate marketing is the online business that i personally recommend to any Nigerian that wants to build a passive income source online. affiliate marketing is simple. you promote A's product and A pays you commission for every single sale. for a limited time you can see the personal secrets that i use to stand out in affiliate marketing at www.affiliatejagaban.com/p/jagaban.html 47 Likes 7 Shares |

Business / How To Build Your Business From Scratch by importexpert(m): 10:01am On Mar 11, 2017 |
I have often advocated in my previous threads that every Nigerian should at least own a business. This is the fastest way to alleviate poverty. In as much as the government keeps sharing bags of rice and other stipends, people will continue to suffer because their immediate desire is being met but their long term need is left unattended to. In this article, I want to highlight the basic steps you can take so as to start your own business. These steps are applicable to both online and offline businesses. 1. Generate an idea: This looks like the easiest part, but it is not. This is where many businesses crashed even before they took off. As opposed to what many people think, an idea is not just what comes to your mind randomly and you feel is noble for a business. An idea is a need that you recognize which has the potential to fetch you money while you need it. The idea you have will be stronger if it comes from having been in a position/place to see or experience for yourself what you need or what others need. Once you can feel that need (and not just think it) it will create in you the passion for the business. 2. Acquire necessary information: Now that you have come up with a brilliant idea, it is time to gather facts. I talked with someone last month who started a business which he was already pumping money into but had no idea how the business runs. That’s pathetic. At this point, you need to acquire information so as to understand the dynamics of the business, the population of the market, the competitors etc. Once again, don’t assume; instead, do research. Carry out market surveys, visit those already in the business to see things for yourself and get acquainted to the “how” of the business. 3. Time to brainstorm: Now you have your idea and you have the basic information about the line of business that you want to delve into. It is now time to think. It will surprise you that very few people think. Most people just act solely on instincts. That is not good for business. Brainstorm on what you can do better, how you can cut down on production cost, how you can seize your own share of the market, what you can do to give you an edge over your competitors etc. 4. Create a simple business plan: The business plan will serve as your guide. Yes, you know everything already and it is in your head but still, write it down. Research has shown that whatever you write down on a piece of paper actually burns deep into your mind which in turn makes you naturally conscious of it. Write down the basics of the business plan such as your vision, your mission, objectives, strategy, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) etc. Once you do this, you will have a clear cut direction of where you are headed. remember the 6p formula that says "proper prior planning prevents poor performance" 5. Do Reviews from time to time: Set aside time to periodically assess your business. This goes beyond the daily or weekly inquiry into the profits of your business. When you do a review, you take a holistic look at your business to find out what is not working and what you can do to improve it. Often, you will find out strategies that are obsolete and ineffective. Also, you may notice a strategy giving you unusual hits. Whatever the case may be, ensure you prune the business regularly so it will yield more growth for your business. Zoom into methods that work and let go of those that are not working. 6. Learn to identify opportunities: There are plenty opportunities that you can take advantage of to boost your business. It may be in the form of publicity for your business or even loans or grants. Learn to look out for them. In fact, those with businesses are more likely to be picked than those without one if an opportunity shows up. Don’t assume that such opportunities are not for you. Take the leap wherever and whenever you can. If you do, it will give accelerated growth to your business. 7. Get a mentor/Model: This is highly important in virtually every field of human endeavor. The tragedy of the youths of today is to think strength is a substitute for experience. A mentor is someone that models the success that you desire. For this purpose, such a person will be very valuable to provide you with tips and insights that he/she has gleaned over the years through experience. In this way, you will achieve success with greater precision and have little room for failure. Never assume that owning a business is difficult. The hardest part is to start. Once you start, you have conquered the fear and procrastination that many are still battling with. Nevertheless, with enough information, planning and action, you can grow your business over time. Bearing all these in mind, I have created a guide for you to start your business right away with little or no capital through affiliate marketing @ www.affiliatejagaban.com/p/jagaban.html 16 Likes 8 Shares |
Career / How To Survive A Job Loss by importexpert(m): 9:31am On Mar 11, 2017 |
it is no more news that most of the oil producing countries in the world are undergoing financial difficulties and companies needs to restructure, our beloved Nigeria is not an exception, Whatever you want to call it, Retrench, Fired, canned, laid off, let go etc it could happen. Sometimes, people see it coming. Other times, they're caught completely off guard. Either way, the process of surviving the loss of a job is the same, and it takes hard work and strong mind to do so. Let go For most people, their initial reaction to a job loss is shock, followed by anger and feelings of victimization. While these reactions are completely normal, dwelling on them is a mistake. As the old adage goes, you need to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and move forward. Feel sad, get mad...and move on! The worst thing you can do is bring a toxic attitude with you wherever you go, or wallow in self-pity. Examine the evidence If you've been fired, you need to assess why. In some cases, it has nothing to do with you, but if it does, you owe it to yourself to examine the reasons. If your behavior, attitude, performance, or abilities were to blame, ask yourself how you can learn from the experience so you don't repeat the same mistakes. Being fired can sometimes provide a big wake-up call that spurs people to positive change and a brighter future. Don't blame the messenger A layoff is usually an entirely different situation than a firing. Most of the time, layoffs are about company decisions to restructure, downsize, or cut perceived fluff. Rarely are they about individuals, no matter how personal it may feel. In most cases, companies realize it's a decision that affects people and they don't usually make layoff decisions quickly or easily. Whether or not you're given notice and a severance package is based on the company's ability to do so, not whether or not they care about you. Still, knowing that a layoff isn't about you isn't much help when you're left jobless and unsure where you'll be tomorrow. However, it's absolutely imperative that you do not take the situation personally and allow it to turn you into an angry and bitter person. Misery loves miserable company Yes, you need to grieve, get angry, and vent to the appropriate people. What you don't need to do is dwell on it and bicker to others for days on end. It might feel good to talk bad about your employer, but while doing it, you're dragging yourself down as well as everyone around you (and you're obviously not out looking for a job!). There is a time and place for negative rhetoric, but those places don't include your current job (if you're still there), a job interview, or at home every night. You can damage job prospects by bad-mouthing a former employer, and you can isolate yourself and loved ones by remaining caustic and withdrawn. Process, positive thinking, and productivity Try writing your thoughts down, limiting the amount of time you allow yourself to be angry, finding positive people to pull you up, and keeping yourself busy with both job-related and non job-related activities. By limiting negativity and focusing on positive and productive thinking, you'll be out of the dumps and on your way to a new job much faster. 5 Likes |
Romance / How To Know Your Man Loves You by importexpert(m): 10:14pm On Mar 09, 2017 |
Most ladies are confused about the way their partners relate with them. Just as people have always said it is difficult to understand women, it seems women are having a difficult time recognizing if their man loves them or not. If you are a lady, here are a few hints to know that your man is head-over-heels in love with you. 1. He loves to stare at you: This is not the usual I-want-to-take-you-to-bed-and-get-naughty kind of look. Yes, men have high libido. But when your man loves you, he may not be able to say it repeatedly as he feels it. So instead, he takes a look at you and wonders within himself how lucky he is to be able to have a damsel like you. That is a very little, yet special way he adores you. Don’t freak out if you catch him staring. It’s just one of his weird ways of showing love. 2. He cannot stay angry with you for long: Most men will agree with this. If you offend your man, sometimes, he gets hurt that you are the one that hurts him. Yea, that’s true. This makes him want to settle with you. But trust we men with ego, we will rarely come out straight. He will find a way to establish communication with you and give you the opportunity to apologize. That’s when you will hear, “I mistakenly dialled your number thinking it was Ebuka. Anyway, how are you?” And once you apologize, he accepts immediately. 3. He shares his future plan with you: When a man does not love a woman, she has to beg him to know what the future is like about the two of them. You know why he lets her beg? Because he actually doesn’t have one. But if your man loves you, he is the one that will engage you on his future plans. Even if he never had one before, your presence in his life will make him want to sit up. And when he shares that future with you, know that he does so because he sees you in it and wants to build it with you. 4. He creates time for you: There is a difference between someone who hangs out with you when they are free and someone who creates time to hang out with you. Your man is the first type of man but also the second man. He may be busy, but you’d be surprised at how he creates time out of his busy schedule to talk to you. He has come to enjoy your company that one of the way he relaxes by having you around. If he does that, appreciate him. It means he values you greatly. 5. He starts to like your flaws: This is weird but it is one of the things that you will see in a man that loves his woman. He will stop trying to change you. He will no longer make an attempt to get angry when he sees your flaws. Instead, he laughs over it and accepts you completely. That’s when you will hear him say, “When you’re angry with me and start talking about it, you need to see your face. You always look so cute.” 6. He shows you off to anybody that cares to listen: When your man loves you deeply, you are no longer his secret affair. You are now his open secret. He lets you know how precious you are to him. Not only that, he talks so highly of you among his friends that he makes them wish you were theirs. And rarely does he talk you down in the presence of his friends, even if you both have an issue at hand. 7. He is interested in your progress: That’s right! He will want to know how your day went, what your short term goals are, what dreams you have etc. And he is not just interested in them; he becomes your greatest cheerleader. You can count on him to encourage you to fulfil your dreams. Why? Because deep within him is a satisfaction that comes from seeing the smile on your face when you have achieved your dreams. So ladies, if you ever find this kind of man as your partner, never let him go because such men are rare. What do you think? Do you agree with this article?
