Una wahala too much, it's a choice, some people travel for different reason, this is not about the situation in Naija, Some travel for Vacation, To Study, For Exposure, Trainning and a list of different things. Well do not blame anyone, Humans have their minds shaped by what they have learnt and experiences they have had over the past, it's a personal thing to choose where to stay, one can migrate to a different country and have a better life, we are already 146million in naija make we spread to countries when dey under populated lol, anyway in all Make we continue to pray, where ever is good for you is your home.
Nothing do you, enjoy yourself wherever you are and dont do crime. Thats the point.

there is a great difference in ppl been happy and ppl accepting what they cannot change.
like fela rightly said, we are suffering and smiling and this is just because we are not used to suicide.
be reminded that nigerians are religious ppl hence they accept whatever they cannot change.
so is not that nigerians are happy rather they have accepted their fates.
I dont think there is anything like accepting what you cannot change in the Nigerian situation. Try arranging a mansion for a fulani herdsmen. He dont need it to be happy. Some of them make millions in cow sales, but have you ever seen them buying generators or riding limos?

Suffering and smiling is good, its better than suicide. My dad used to tell me, 'half a life is better than death'.
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians So "Not" Unhappy? by invisible2(m): 4:36pm On Oct 29, 2010
If you want to see a definition of happiness, look into the eyes of a toddler when its mother comes back to the house. Does that mean the child is rich, or experienced to know what it is missing by not being the child of Barack Obama?
Condition have no relationship with happiness. Some find happiness in poverty, in religion, in service, in knowing what nobody knows. Some die with a smile to their face, crucified up side down.
People just love to look down on Nigerians, because some are poor does not mean that I cannot sit with my neighbor and laugh for hours at the madness of a certain rich fool who departs after making billions and dying of misery. People should be allowed to choose their own happiness, not forcing us to believe you are happier than me because you have a longer prick or have a bigger house, (which you could be owing the bank for)
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians So "Not" Unhappy? by invisible2(m): 4:12pm On Oct 29, 2010
@the clown, your perception of happiness is elitist, tell me, why do the rich and mighty still suffer heart attacks, commit suicide? If money and knowledge solves all problems, The US will not be suffering from depression today. Some people love life, they sit back and relax with a small radio, a hut and two cows as their only earthly possesion. And you will be fuming and getting mad for not buying another Hummer or completing your 10th house!
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians So "Not" Unhappy? by invisible2(m): 3:09pm On Oct 29, 2010
How can we be unhappy when

We dont own any debt on our house.
We buy our tokunbo car outright.
Pay N500 for a duplex as Nepa bill
Pay no taxes whatsover.
Can settle the police for any offence you commit.
The senators earn more than Obama.
Dont live in dread of the law. (where can you repatriate me to?)
Can settle robbers and tell them to keep off our particular streets.
Can enjoy a meal in a church and the next in a mosque, laughing with the imam or pastor.
Dont look out for Osama bin Ladin.
Can spend less than 3000 dollars to graduate with a law degree.
Chop fresh bushmeat and dring better palm wine.
Plant and pluck your fruits and vegetable in your compound.
Get cured in churches (who cares about hospitals?)
pull off my shirt and sleep outside without fear of freezing to death.

Another way of putting it is 85% of Nigerians are crooks.
If I think of the policemen who cant help but tax you, the conductor who wants to cheat, the artisan who wants to make a fast buck off you, your neighbour who is planning to rob you, politicians who want to starve you, the producers of pure water who want to dupe you, the list is endless.

Point is corruption and "crookedness" is almost a way of life in Naija. You can almost cut it with a knife!

@invisible--your heart is your handle, treat it as you may,

The yahoo boys, credit card scammers, robbers, drug dealers, forgers, car jackers, hackers, health insurance frausters, assasins and money launderers are all based abroad. They come back and recruit lietenants.
Senator Nnamani is an example of a foreign based imported crook.

We dont hate them, the only problem is that if they continue that way, crime will increase here. When those with ill gotten wealth return and bid everything sky high, the boys here will want to step up, kidnapping, robbing, ritualizing anything in their path just to even out things and the cycle continues.
In the end we all lose, our country will become more corrupt and our image home and abroad will continue to nosedive.

Most of the Nigerians living in the Diaspora are quite educated and do not have menial labor jobs.

I will say 70% of Nigerians who came over are either pharmacist or nurses. And these two jobs pay well.

You are wrong again, except if being a criminal is a type of education. Most Nigerians that run away from here are the misfits, the never do wells, the obstinately stubborn, the drop outs and criminals who steal just to raise enough money to sponsor their journey.
These guys mostly dont have any knowledge of anything, the only thing they want is to go out and make money by all means. They lie that they are footballers, students business people till they get there. And some do make it, just go on, tell me they became pharmacists in one year?

You have to give credit to 95%of NID's, Abeg e no easy. Or is it easy to be 'doing well' in another mans land washing Plates,Corpses, and doing mai-guard (of course in morgues afterall who would employ u to guard anything of value given d way una eyez dey shine and your reputation?) yet they still save enough to send back home, gather enough to come home every 10yrs (of course they only stay that long because Ngr is too hot), dress like some Somalian version of Puff Daddy in their FB profile pictures and after all these expenses, they still have to maintain their constant internet service so they can bombard all these Home Based Nigerians(HBN's) in Nairaland about how they are enjoying 'White mens sweat'. Abeg NID's una dey Hustle, I hail O! .
So no matter what anyone tries to say on this thread, Chin Up, Chest Out afterall nobody dey help una drink the Panadol every night!

So you're typically talking about those you know. Eh ehn, you should have said that now. 85% of the NID you know are suffering abroad.

My aunt is going home for the 5th time this yr alone. You have to understand that it's hard for some ppl to get days off from work to go. My mother only gets 2weeks off in a yr, she prefers to spend those weeks with her children. And yes, she has been home.

If you call your people and talk to them constantly, you dont have to worry about them being in jail or dead.

Your last sentence sums up my point, we have to worry about them, they are dear to us. Didnt hear you say you came back, or are you underaged?

I travel back to Naija at least two times a year. Most of the Nigerians I know, at least go back home during the holidays.

You must know only the elites abroad. The ones I know dont come back here in five years, some come back to impregnate their wives after the woman don cry like a thousand time for phone, complaining of 'congi'
Some have never returned since they travelled 15 years ago, we fear they may be in jail or dead. Na wao!

If definition of doing well is to be able to afford three meals square, clothing and have a place to put your head without worry about the other neighbors disturbing your peace after working day, then I will say they are doing well. But, if your definition of doing well is to have 3 cars, plenty of money in the bank, then it will be hard to say they are doing well.

How many can even afford the three meals? What of the ones squatting?

So anything a nigerian says is home truth and we should believe him or her? undecided Please stop using this kinds of silly analogies okay.

There are crooks everywhere both home and abroad so lets all live with it and those who feel they are good can work together for Nigeria's development. I think it is you that should stop the holier that thou attitude because i never claimed to be holy here. Why don't you seek for ways that the positive sides of both ends can work together for our development instead of this big joke of a thread.
Bros I feel you, but Sanusi said the banking system is/was brimming with crooks and it turned out he was right.
There are crooks everywhere but it seems the actions of our diaspora folks have a huge impact on the level of corruption here dont you think?

No wonder our leaders do not care about us, let me ask you . . what purpose is this thread trying to serve? So what percentage of Nigerians in Nigeria are crooks?
Coming from bbc, we wont take them serious but coming from your fellow countryman, that one na home truth.
This thread is meant to alert the crooks that we are watching. Oh yes, there are crooks in Nigeria alright, but does that make it any more comforting? Stop the holier than thou attitude.
