Oho, thought I was the only one that got enraged by the dude's thoughtless post. Ordinary DUI lands people in jail in countries where human lives are valued.

Are there no Igbos in Niger delta?

Hypocrite. You were uncomfortable with him calling the multi-tribal region (ijaws, ishekiri, etc) nigerdeltans, yet you guys are so aggressive in annexing the whole region as biafra.

Having few igbos in the nigerdelta doesn't negate their rights to be identified as nigerdeltans. Same way the ijaws in Ondo do NOT whine when the yorubas classify Ondo as a southwest state or Odua region.

For sinp, the application offer stays open for just few days and sometimes FEW HOURS. The trick to beating other propecting applicants is to get all documents ready and pre-fill all neccessary forms online.

Hello all,
I am seeking an info for a friend, he is a pharmacy graduate of U.I. What is the first step or steps in assessing or evaluating his academic credentials towards the EE program.

It's a regulated profession, as such, he may have to do his ECA with pebc.ca; and would also need to write a couple of exams after landing before he can practice in Canada

Is there any PNP currently available without Employment offer?

Ontario, Saskatchewan and scotia nova would nominate you without job offer. On availability, ontario periodically sends a letter of interest to applicants with crs score >400 (with priority on newly created profiles). Saskatchewan opened in Jan for 3 days, but it's currently closed. General opinion is that they may open up again in March, but I would say it's better you shadow their site regularly. Mind you, Saskatchewan has a preferred occupation list.

Yes, however, I reckon your profession is regulated and you would have to go through a different assessing body.

Hi zandora, jesusdway, irondome,
Please how can I track the progress of my application. Been 4 months now and all I can see is "review of eligibility in progress. The silence is deafening

Is your background check in progress yet? If yes, you are as good as PPR, especially if you are an outland applicant. If otherwise, keep monitoring via your MyCIC. Empirically, BG check for applications processed in Ottawa usually goes into " in progress" between 100 and 150 days.

Funny, let me say, I lived there for 4 years over 32 years ago. And the stark reality that there has not been any significant output althrough these years unpins why investment in that facility so far has been a waste.

You can now shake your head at yourself, especially if you are one of the beneficiary of the free cheese
Business / Re: Russian Builders Of Ajaokuta Steel Offer To Complete Project by irondome: 1:28am On Jan 28, 2016
cooljade:

The Russian company that designed and built the now moribund Ajaokuta Steel Company Ltd (ASCL) about two decades ago has recently written to the federal government, indicating its willingness to return and complete the project so that the multibillion naira investment can commence production.

But it seems the federal government, which has not responded to the letter yet, is not very keen about the Russian firm’s offer to return and make the rusted company work again.

Russian TyazhpromExport, a steel industry construction company established in the late 1950s, had after the June 4, 1976 bilateral agreements signed by Nigeria and Russia, on the development of the former’s iron deposit, sealed a contract (047/04100) for the construction of a steel plant with the capacity of producing 1.3 million tonnes of steel per year.

With the contract signed, the Russian company, as it could be recalled, deployed 1,000 Russian experts and 3,500 Nigerian workers to carry out the construction exercise that was completed up to 98 per cent by October 1993. Specifically, of the 482 Units that make up the entire ASCL, 476 of them were commissioned, including three rolling mills, TPS-TBS, repair and service shops that were all put into operation.

After that feat, the steel company was abandoned and left to rot away for years. And when the federal government made the move to revive the company in 2002, the same Russian company was invited to carry out an assessment audit of what needed to be done to revive it, but the effort was later stalled when government decided in 2005 to give the company on concession to one Global Infrastructure Holdings Ltd. That agreement, too, was later said to have been cancelled in 2008.

Since then, there has been no clear-cut direction for ASCL, and the prospective money-spinner continued to rot away.

With the coming of the new government and its obvious body language to diversify the economy, one of which is to revive ASCL, the original builders, TyazhPromExport, which happened to have kept an eye on the unfortunate development of its brainchild, has again written to the government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development about its readiness to make the steel company functional.

In its letter dated December 12, 2015, a copy of which was made available to LEADERSHIP, the Russian company said it did not “want to believe that Ajaokuta cannot be viable if money is spent on it”.

The officials of the Russian company said if made to work again, Ajaokuta would play a major role in President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda on poverty eradication.

However, the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development had not responded to this letter at the time of filing this report.

When contacted by LEADERSHIP to comment on the letter written to his ministry by TPE, the minister of state for Solid Mineral Development, Abubakar Bawa Bwari, acknowledged the said missive but he quickly pointed out that the Russian company was not the only one interested in rehabilitating Ajaokouta.

He spoke to our reporter on phone: “In fact, more than seven companies have presented several proposals, letters and presentations, showing their interest to complete the Ajaokuta Steel Company Ltd.

“We are being very careful not to make any mistakes and are waiting till we are able to vet all proposals before the technical team and also involve the government of their countries to certify the companies before sitting down to discuss with the firms. This time around we want to be very careful but we are willing to associate and discuss with those interested in completing the steel complex.”

He lamented that “so much had been spent for the revival of plant with nothing commensurate coming out of it.”

“The federal government spends N4 billion annually to maintain the steel plants and its workers, but we cannot continue with that,” he said.

The minister said that it was the present administration’s intention that before the expiration of its tenure, half or the whole of Ajaokuta Steel firm will be working.

“It is our intention that if Ajaokuta won’t work, at least half of it will begin to work. It can generate power and it is our intention that before the end of our tenure, half or the whole of AJSC will be working.”

Reacting to this development, a non-governmental organisation with interest on investment, Builders Hub Impact Investment Programme, said it was aware of the letter by the Russian company to the Federal Ministry of Solid Mineral Development, because it (Builders Hub) reached out to TyazhPromExport (TPE) Russia in good faith when it discovered the firm’s genuine interest to work with Nigeria in completing Ajaokuta.

“They said that they wrote several times to the Nigerian government over the years but there was response,” said Natasha Akpoti, of Builders Hub Impact Investment Programme.

“TPE said that it would be its greatest desire to fulfil a dream it shared with Nigeria many years ago. TPE is a world giant in steel plant construction and has a lot of past and present projects all over the world. TPE built India’s largest steel plants on the same technology that Ajaokuta has, which is the blast furnace. TPE was recently contacted by the Indian government to undertake the reconstruction and modernization of Roulkella Steel, which is one of the country’s largest steel amongst others,” she said.

A pragmatic approach would be to sell off 70% of FG's stake in the facility. That would put an end to the free cheese its been dishing out to lazy workers.

I just can't imagine paying a group of people for over 30 years for doing nothing.

10 working days in not too much to have your passport returned to you after PPR...except they have informed you that your visa is ready. Mind you, passport request does not mean your visa has been issued...you better cool down......mine took 1 month after PPR and that seems to be very fast. Anyway, I am FSW 2014 (Oct applicant), and I guess you probably are EE applicant. Wish you best of luck. But please cool down and keep praying because you aren't through yet with the process!!

I landed Dec 30th 2015...and I pray all FSW 2014 awaiting response from Ghana will receive good news soon. I encourage you all to press on 'cos the 'benefits' quite outway the 'price'.

Thanks for the post. I guess my impatience stems from the average processing time for most EE applicantss (which is <10 working days). A dude even got his passport back from the same AVO in 10 days, although, he didn't use vfs like I did.

Hello Irondome,

I apologize ahead if this question has been answered before. Please do you mind detailing the steps after receiving the Decision Made notification?

What are the next steps? Is there an interview scheduled?

Also before you got the DM update, did you receive any emails from CIC requesting anything or any information?

Is there a requirement that the applicant has to be in Nigeria at the time the Decision Made notification comes?

Please advise.

Input from other Elders in the house who have submitted their application is welcome.

Thank you very much.

No interview, No additional document request, No decision made status as most applicants lost access to ECAS few months ago. And you can be anywhere for your PPR, you only have to request a change of visa office for visa stamping.

I am curious to learn some of those parallels you've drawn. Please kindly explain as I can't think of any.

1. As stated above, as a foreigner, you don't mess with their ladies; yet they treat their ladies like shit. In fact, things get a bit weirder in India, the bride's family pay dowry to the groom. So, God help the ladies from poor families.
2. They both love to chew some redish stuff, gworo for the Hausa (I guess)
3. They both love to spit anywhere, everyone.
4. They both issues with consonant and vowel sounds. For the hausas, it's p for f, etc. For Indians, it's V for W, etc.
5. When an Indian shakes his/her in response to a question, he most likely means YES as against the convectional NO in other places.

I no get much time jare.

Hi Everyone! I wanna thank you all for the solidarity in bringing me back at this time as i got 6days less the time placed on my ban for an innocent mistake. Special thanks to Etfash, Deesom and all those who championed this, and also to those who have kept the thread alive like Irondome and the rest, of course not leaving out OUR BRAINY ZANDY (you single guys should shine your eyes very well o, especially those who won't be getting ITA soon grin)

Ok so, back to business. For those asking whether ICAN assessment will count towards getting points for 2 or more certificates, please note that any assessment result that does not equate whatever the qualification is as being a degree or a diploma or a certificate, won't get any score under educational factor therefore, ICAN which is being assessed as a professional study does not get scored. The only professional qualification i've seen that falls under the category as defined by CIC is ACCA, as it is assessed to be the equivalent of a 3year degree. Don't waste your time claiming points for 2certificates and at the end of the day when you have gotten ITA, CIC sees your ECA that one of the qulaifications is a professional study and then deduct your score which may then make you score less than the cut-off at that point, thereby rendering your application ineligible. You would have wasted time, hope and also your application fee of 550CAD as every application that doesn't sail through after ITA loses the application fee

Finally, for those interested in Quebec, the application date has been shifted to January 25 which means for those who are yet to open their account online with them still have the grace to do so. Pls note that Quebec charges application fee of 765CAD for principal applicant and 162 i think, for each dependant. Check the link below for the online registration. God bless you all

I went to India to visit a friend of mine in Mumbai, I saw Nigerians lavishing and wasting in that country. India as a country is very poor and the only proffesion booming there is the medical and pharmaceutical line, still they disrespect African and take us as shiit. Let me share this experience " I walked into a shopping mall and I got to admired this sweet fair india girl, I thought it was like in Nigeria so I was like " babe, how are you?", the girl smiled and she was like "if she's not fine, what kind I do for her?" I thought it was a joke oooo, the next minute I saw youths gathering in the mall and wanting to harass me, the india girl kept telling them that "I asked her how she was with a smile on my face". I immediately noticed an old, matured man, so I thought he would understand my plights, so I told him "sir, asking someone how he/she is in Nigeria is like a compliment", to my greatest surprise the man yelled at me and asked why I should ask her such question, he sounded as if its wrong for me to ask an India girl out. To my greatest surprise they kept dragging my cloth until the security men came to rescue me.

I met an agile Nigerian guy crying and telling me he wish to see nigeria again.

My people, no place like home ooo, I remembered visiting Dubai late last year, I went to a particular area called chaja ( not sure if I get the spelling), this area is full of wasted and stranded nigerians with no hope of coming back home.

Abeg, I will start to appreciate this home called Nigeria oo, no matter how its is oooo

Those blokes don't joke with their girls with foreigners ooo; ironically, they also have the disposition to abuse their ladies. Honestly, I draw a lot of parallels between Indians and Hausas, play with their ladies at your own peril.
