Religion / Re: 5 Reasons Why Pastors Do Not Need Private Jets by Jalive: 10:22pm On Sep 20, 2015
jaymejate:

you need more understanding of the Bible. because they have private jet doesn't mean they are serving money cos if u see who is really serving money, he would do anything to get it. Having a jet is not wasting resources, go to churches, u will know that they do help the poor and the needy but u cant continue giving them fish, u must teach them to fish and thats moving close to God that supplies all our needs according to his riches in Glory.

God will give u what you need with ease only if you serve him.
Bro think deep

God bless you for that response

I wrote Zenith bank to ask about their fixed deposit interest rate and got this response.

Fixed deposit rates:

TENOR AMOUNT RATE PER ANNUM
30DAYS 1M 4%
60DAYS 1M 4%
90DAYS 1M 3.25%

Someone please confirm if this is standard rate or there are far better rate elsewhere or maybe I should try to negotiate for more?

Investment / Re: What Area Of Businesses Can Be Invested In Without The Owner Running It Hisself. by Jalive: 9:59pm On May 08, 2015
ibl0010:
I have come across few articles stating that nigerians living abroad should not forget his or her father land and therefore established a business in nigeria to help with the high unemployment in the country. Some will and others will not agree with me but I for one ( as someone who is fortunate to be nigerian and also settled abroad) think that, nigerians abroad not wanting to invest in his or her father land is not the issue, but the main issues that may discourage nigerians abroad from establishing a business in nigeria is down to the amount of untrustworthy people, corruption and bad infrastructure.

With regards to bad infrastructure. I think nigerians economy will grow largely with just simple constant electricity, with good and regular electricity businesses which rely on electricity can trade longer and staff will work longer hours earning more money, people will come out more at night to spend money in entertainment venues because regular electricity would mean people will feel safer at night due to street light.

In terms of dealing with untrustworthy people. it is unfortunate that the bad people in nigerian are giving the good people of nigeria a bad name and reputation. It is so hard now adays to trust people in nigerian because people just seems to be money hungry. A nigerian abroad wanting to establish a business in nigerian to create employment opportunities and investment for his or herself can't be in two places at once but because people are so money hungry it is hard for a nigerian abroad to start a business in nigeria and put family or outsider in charge to run the business on behalf of a nigerian abroad. There is nothing wrong with buying a fleet of car to use as taxi and pay someone salary to drive the taxi. Here due lack of transparency of some people a driver can make 10,000 naira a day for example and only say he made 5,000 naira, this is why investor choose hire purchase to protect their investment.

I for one as a nigerian fortunate to also have abroad nationality would like to invest in nigeria by establishing some sort of business that creates jobs to help the nigerian economy grow but as one can't live and also be in nigeria at the same time to run a business on the ground, are there businesses or investment a nigeria abroad can invest in without ending up with egg on his face. By investment, I mean, properties, animal farming and so on.

P.S. As the Sunny Ade song (the way forward goes), nigerian can only move forward in the right direction if nigeria itself as a country gives itself a good reputation on the world stage, which in turns will benefit the people of nigeria.

Health / The Effect Of Obesity On Fertility by Jalive: 2:21pm On Dec 20, 2014
If you’re trying to get pregnant, or intend to start trying, know that being overweight – especially significantly so – can affect your chances of conceiving and having a healthy baby. If you are overweight and planning to get pregnant in the next year or few years, you might commit to a healthy eating and regular exercise plan. Losing even a few kilos can make a difference. The father’s weight can also affect your chances of getting pregnant.

How can I tell if I’m ‘overweight’ or ‘obese’?
One common measure of whether a person is ‘overweight’ or ‘obese’ is the body mass index or BMI. You calculate your BMI by dividing your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in metres. The Better Health Channel has a BMI calculator and further information about BMI. A healthy BMI is considered to be between 18.5 and 25. Having a BMI between 26 and 30 is considered ‘overweight’ and over 30 is considered ‘obese’.

How can I lose weight?
With a healthy eating plan and exercise you’ll be on your way to a healthy weight.
The Dieticians Association of Australia website has some excellent information about creating your own healthy diet plan. You can also visit the Australian Government’s Healthy Weightwebsite for more information on a ‘balanced diet’ and guidelines for how much exercise you need to do to both lose weight and maintain a healthy weight.

The facts about women, weight and fertility
Obesity can affect fertility by causing hormonal imbalances and problems with ovulation, particularly for obese women having their first baby. Obesity is associated with poly-cystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common cause of infertility.
If a mother is obese, it increases the risk of pregnancy complications and health problems for the baby. Risks associated with obesity in pregnancy include miscarriage, hypertension, pre-eclampsia , gestational diabetes, infection, blood clotting, need for induction of labour, Caesarean birth and stillbirth.

Babies born to overweight or obese mothers are more likely than those born to healthy-weight mothers to become obese children and adults, and to have more health problems.

The figures about women, weight and fertility
Women who are overweight or obese have less chance of getting pregnant overall. They are also more likely than women of healthy weight to take more than a year to get pregnant.

The risk of pre-eclampsia doubles in overweight women and triples in obese women. Overweight women have twice the risk of gestational (pregnancy-related) diabetes and obese women eight times the risk, compared with women of healthy weight.
A woman who is obese is more than twice as likely to have a miscarriage as a woman of healthy weight. There is twice the risk that her baby will not survive.
Infants born to obese women are more likely to be large for their age, need neonatal intensive care or have a congenital abnormality.
