And what has that gotten you?
Any achievement whatsoever?
I doubt.
Stop this tribal bashing and move on with life.

Hi there!
I'm actually a teetotaler, so . . . if you have LA casera. cheesy
I still don't understand why it was banned though. It has been here for decades and it had not killed anybody. Now it kills a few and the government quickly bans it without extensive research? That sounds wrong. And, typical of naija. cheesy
Now, let's get to your question. wink

Natural selection.

This once highly controversial conjecture basically means that in life, two things happen constantly.
1. Things change.
2. The fittest survives.

In every generation, there is a slight change in the genetic make up of organisms. For instance, some people are tall, others are short, it is a mixture of their parent's genes. Some people see more red than others, some are exceptionally brilliant, like everyone on this thread grin
Now, having all these different characteristics, nature seeks to blend it. In fact, nature wants every member of each species to look and act exactly the same. wink. Which is why, for a specific location, after having all these impressive traits, NATURAL SELECTION begins. The variations most suited to that environment survive. While the ones that don't die out. For instance, if that terrain requires constant running and/or athletics, the muscular ones will become prevalent. Simply because the lean ones have died out because they did not meet up to the standards.

This explains races . . . species . . . and a lot of impressive stuff. Individual members of species keep changing. And nature "tests" those changes to see which will stand the test of time. in the process, new species emerge. shocked shocked
But one may ask, why? How? Why do these organisms change? What is going on here? Well, that brings us to your second concept.

genetic mutation

Imagine you are typing fast on your computer. And you make mistakes. Usually, you can just erase them. But what if you couldn't? shocked what if your computer doesn't have a backspace button and any mistake you make is permanent? shocked let me guess, that would suck, right?
Unfortunately, or not . . . that is what nature has to work with. During meiosis, DNA doesn't always get typed exactly as it should be. It makes mistakes . . . oversights . . . Typos!
So this means everyone has numerous mistakes in their genetic make up. Which . . . they cannot erase. These mistakes are called genetic mutation and are the basis for natural selection because nature has to find a way to deal with these mistakes, so, it kind of thinks, which of these mistakes can we pass off as a new style?
And that . . . is the best layman explanation I can offer. It is an oversimplification, but. I hope you got it.

Feel free to ask any questions. If I can't answer them, there will be other experts. wink

Cheers!

Kudos!
That's a good insight!

Nigeria should go back to Regionalism, every tribe or people who have the same common goal should be together.
Then there should be a conference on how to develop the nation with representatives from each region, that's on a national scale.
On national issues we should all come together to ponder, debate, and conclude.
For instance all regions might decide to produce an amount of food for the African less privileged, that's how we develop a nation.
We're building a name for ourselves.
The South West is still the most developed because it is where majority of Nigerians co-habitate.
But when the brains are distributed, you'll massive developments up north too and growth in the middle belt and the south.

That's Is the only way my people!

There have been this age old rivalry between the Arabs and the Europeans, with each having different ways of life: Christianity and Islam.
The founder of the NOI Elijah Muhammed's plan to bring out a NOI out of America is highly regarded a very big mistake because we all know for sure the whites will surpress the actualisation with everything they have.
Malcolm was towing that part too before his life was cut short.
I mean who wants to share borders with an angry nation with a different ideology hoping to revenge for past crimes against them? Its like placing a keg of gunpowder by one's fence only for the thief to light it up and BOOM, Arab invasion.
My take is whatever movement is gonna be re-ignited ,it should start from Africa.
And it should have nothing to do with either Christianity or Islam.

Politics / 8 Farmers Hacked To Death In Taraba by jaysniggs: 6:59pm On Jun 19, 2015
Kano - Assailants suspected to be Fulani herdsmen hacked to death eight farmers in northeast Nigeria, police said on Thursday.

Around 30 machete-wielding assailants accosted the farmers on their way to their crop field in Sondi village in Wukari district of Taraba state, where deadly clashes between farmers and herders over grazing rights are frequent, police spokesperson Joseph Kwaji said of the Wednesday attack.

"From reports at my disposal some unidentified attackers hacked to death eight peasant farmers on their way to the farm in Sondi village on Wednesday morning," Kwaji said.

The victims included six men, a woman and a boy of around seven years.

"The attackers are yet to be identified because they fled the scene before the arrival of policemen but the area is known for clashes between herdsmen and farmers," Kwaji said.

Teams of anti-riot policemen have been deployed in the area to search for the attackers and to prevent reprisal attacks that could lead to large scale unrest, he added.

Foreign Affairs / Africa Should Set Up Its Own ICC by jaysniggs: 6:32pm On Jun 19, 2015
Cape Town – Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, who is also the African Union (AU) chair, says Africa must establish its own International Criminal Court (ICC) which would be mandated to prosecute Western leaders who have committed crimes on the continent.

According to the state-owned Chronicle newspaper, Mugabe said it was high time Africa set up a criminal court which would seek justice for "serious" war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the West, particularity during the colonial era.

"They committed crimes, colonial crimes galore – the slaughter of our people and all that imprisonment... I have a case, why was I imprisoned for 11 years? We forgave them, but perhaps we’ve not done ourselves justice... You set up the ICC, we set our ICC to try Europeans, to try Mr [George] Bush and Mr [Tony] Blair," Mugabe was quoted as saying.

Mugabe said the International Criminal Court was a court for Western countries, dispensing Western injustice on Africans.

Mass withdrawal

Mugabe said this while addressing journalists at the Harare international airport where he was seeing off his Malian counterpart Ibrahim Boubacar Keita after his three-day state visit to the southern African country.

Keita concurred, adding it was "up to Africans, not Europeans or Americans to judge their leaders".

Mugabe's remarks came a few days after Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir evaded an ICC arrest order by leaving early from an African Union summit that was held in Johannesburg.

At the summit, Mugabe wanted a mass withdrawal of African states from the ICC.

The veteran leader harshly criticised the ICC after Al-Bashir dodged his arrest, saying the international court was not wanted in Africa.

"This is not the headquarters of the ICC, we do not want it in this region at all," Mugabe said.

Mugabe also took a swipe at the "foreign" funded non-governmental organisations (NGOs), whom he said were angling for Al-Bashir’s arrest.

How long is it going to continue like this?
How long are we going to keep feeding these people for doing almost nothing?

Politics / Re: Pan Yoruba Group Says Ojudu Is “yoruba Most Distinguished Senator” by jaysniggs: 6:14pm On Jun 15, 2015
IROHINOodua:
By Femi Aina
Senator Babafemi Ojudu who represented Ekiti Central District has been named as the “Yoruba Most Distinguished Senator.”
The group said that Ojudu was chosen based on his long past and present history of meritorious services to the Yoruba nation adding that his four years presence in the Senate remains unparallel in the recent history of political engagement of the Yoruba people at the centre.
In a statement issued on Thursday the Coalition of Pan Yoruba Groups listed Ojudu as the most remarkable lawmaker in the South West since 1999.
According to the statement signed by Abayomi Ogunsona and Oluwole Sule Senator Ojudu stood out and fought on behalf of the entire people of the South West and all Nigerians who belief in justice, equity and sustainable livelihood.
“Senator Ojudu was picked for his integrity, his campaign for the freedom of law, campaign against corruption and his overall zeal for the utilitarian value of the Yoruba people. He stood out like a long standing ally who understands the predicament of his people and who chose to take the bull by the horn.”
According to the group, Ojudu’s programmes which include but not limited to his women development centre, ibold annual student challenges, mobile clinic and knowledge development initiatives have helped promote self actulaisation among many young people across the South West.
“Senator Ojudu is always the icon that every young Yoruba youth across the South West states look out to in terms of crucial personal, collective and community needs. He did not fail to meet his obligations all through the eight years of his stewardship”

The group stated that Senator Ojudu remains the most remarkable leader of his people in the Senate. “There is no doubt about this. For instance, Senator Ojudu was the leading figure in the campaign to save Nigerians trapped during the outbreak of the civil war in Libya among which were many Yoruba people. He was the whistle blower in the immigration scam and the oil subsidy fraud. Senator Ojudu is a man of the people. He has lived up to the expectations of his people. He is accessible, humble and dedicated to the common good of his people.
The group noted that Senator Ojudu played a crucial role in the dynamic campaign for the freedom of information law, the child rights law and the vigorous campaign for the law that sanction the rape of minors which was recently passed by the Senate.
The group stated further “Even though Senator represented Ekiti State, his achievements echoes through our the hills and valleys of the Yoruba territory. ‘He fought hard not only in his state of birth but across the entire South West to entrench democracy, human rights and good governance. He took his campaign for Yoruba renaissance across the world and today, Senator Ojudu is the most outstanding on Yoruba matters at home and abroad.

Politics / Re: Why Are African Countries Backward Both Socially And Economically ? by jaysniggs: 4:56pm On Jun 15, 2015

TO ME THE BEST THING IS CLOSE OUR PORTS,IMPORT VERY FEW THINGS AND DO NOT IMPORT ANYTHING EDIBLE...IF HUNGER WIRE US. WE WILL BE FORCED TO FARM MECHANICALLY, IF COLD CATCH US WE WILL BE FORCED TO UPGRADE OUR GARMENT FACTORY...BUT WE ARE GLUTTONS. ALWAYS WANTING FINE WINE, DESIGNER CLOTHERS AND WE CONSUME INSTEAD OF PRODUCING, WE RUN A SERVICE ECONOMY

To be honest lets forget this globalization, IMF, and UN is using it to cheat Africa, China saw this and avoided it

Disadvantages of Globalization:

Developed countries can stifle development of undeveloped and under-developed countries.
Economic depression in one country can trigger adverse reaction across the globe.
It can increase spread of communicable diseases.
Companies face much greater competition. This can put smaller companies, at a disadvantage as they do not have resources to compete at global scale.

Firstly, globalization is good for certain countries more, such as those in the First World or Global North. Rich countries like the USA, UK, Germany etc. can sell more products and goods to new markets in the Global South or poorer countries. Think of McDonald's and Starbucks and other big American brands. We can find McDonald's everywhere (almost).

Due to globalization, many local brands and businesses in poorer developing countries go bankrupt and can't survive the economic might of these rich countries. Local cultures and traditions change. People no longer wear national costumes because they all want to look like Hollywood stars and wear jeans, for example. People want to become "American" and consume everything American.

Also because of globalization, more and more people are learning and speaking English to the detriment of local languages. There are more international schools and the focus now is on the acquisition of this global language rather than their own L1 or mother tongue.

You see agriculture should be practised in every region in Nigeria, and I mean large extensive farms in each region.
There our cummulative produce will hit the market.by then we control African agricultural exports and we shouldn't let the west as usual weigh us down.
In order to get this we mustnt keep on importing edible foods!
We must start producing our own wines!
No more luxury for anyone to be eating imported foods!

If our agric is blossoming then expect the textile industry too.

And about globalization its unfortunate murtala saw it, tried to avoid it he ended up dead.
And since then they have been able to infilterate our society!
Protecting their interests.
Killing bills that are against their interests.
Keeping our politicians loots for their own economies.
We don't know the true amount of oil that Nigeria produces daily, all thanks to them and their multinationals. You see we are pretty messed up.
Until we citizens are aware they won't leave, who will drive them out, "WE".

For our products to grow we need to stop importing and start manufacturing.
A Jewish man once said, the money owned by a Jew will go round 17 Jews before it reaches an outiders hand.
Do you see community building there?
My black race must benefit first before any other race.
But our people are too modern to use African made products.

Personally I think we are cheating nature and our cause for being the dark skinned.
We are black with various languages, those languages are what sustained the caucasian race until industrilisation started with them.
The only thing between us and them is industrilisation.
Our language should be used in our favour not our detriment.
So its like erasing an already laid foundation of language and culture. All we needed to add was industrilisation to be mordernised. But now we are erasing our cultures and our traditions.
