Barbara007:I guess you were the one that called me (07089030689) on phone. Remote diagnosis from what you described would be very difficult considering the works done on the car. If the car can make the trip to Abule Egba, then I can take a look at it and subsequently fix it. |

fabulousmann:Do not change the battery hastily. Do a parasitic draw test with a multimeter on the car, and also run a load test on the battery to be sure if it's battery or something else that's draining the battery. Or better still, take out the battery when packed overnight or for long then connect the battery back when ready to start the car. If the car cranks fine and starts, then battery is fine, if not then battery is faulty. 3 Likes |

sonofthunder:Don't take my comment serious. But on a serious note, do those brand of phones last that long and retain good market value? 5 years is a lot for an Android phone with the ever changing updates and upgrades, not to talk of a Chinese midrange phone. |

nymphomaniac:So many things could be faulty. 1. Check your radiator cap to see if the rubber is bad, rusty or the spring no longer holds pressure. 2. Look out for leaks around the cooling lines, hoses and pipes. No matter how little the leak is, it will compromise your cooling system. Also look out for rust or whitish discoloration along same line as that is a tell tale sign of coolant leaking. Those 2 could explain why you're loosing water with all things being fine mechanically with your car. 3. Inspect your radiator for blockage or absence of sufficient fins. It will make it difficult to cool your coolant (or water as the case may be) effectively. Better still, ask your technician to run a pressure test if he has the kit. |

GAZZUZZ:Another true submission sir. But from my personal experience, fuel economy gets affected mostly in the morning when temp is cold (that's when most people leave for work), fan running directly (possibly with aftermarket radiator aka double cell), and engine running on thicker oil. I've seen cars running all day with the temp remaining close to the bottom. |

GAZZUZZ:True but makes more sense when most people drive off immediately after starting the car with fan running directly sir. |

Using 20W50 oil viscosity will eat deep into your fuel because of additional efforts to move parts within the engine caused by friction from the oil |

nymphomaniac:Coasting downhill on neutral with a manual transmission will not save you fuel but work the other way round and it's equally not safe. You need that boosted pressure from the engine for your brakes to work well, besides modern cars are designed with a fuel cut off system when coasting in gear. It's advisable to just leave the car in the appropriate gear when coasting downhill. 1 Like |

Autos / Re: Let's Discuss USED Vehicles by jceesquare(m): 1:13pm On May 17, 2023 |
sarris:Nigerian used Toyota Hiace vans are known to undergo several abuse from their owners, and most time the engine would have been rebuilt multiple times before repacking and placed for sale. The Tokunbo variant would be the best option, but most of them come in as right hand drive and converted here. You might have electrical issues in the future which would be difficult to properly diagnose if the conversion is poorly done. Your budget would determine which you should go for. My advice to you is for you to go with a good technician for proper prepurchase inspection. 1 Like 1 Share |

jahgogo:Hope they know what they're doing sa. It's easier dropping the engine to fix the timing (depending on what timing they intend setting) Modified: Just saw the OP's response to your post. You need to put that into perspective as well. Wish your valves well and hope they've not welded you cam sprocket. |

FineUsername:If you're familiar with Ladipo and their antics, then you must have heard that term appearance”. It could mean different things depending on how you're looking at it. If you want to buy a used car and the seller tells you he just bought tokunbo engine in it, it's either he's selling you rebuilt engine in the name of tokunbo or he actually did replaced the engine. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Androidking:Go with a qualified mechanic to get the engine. Most manufactures use same engine for different models with slight power output. You vehicle uses a 1MZ engine and it was used in a lot of different Toyota and Lexus models. |
