Why can't we just be honest in this country, charge me whatever amount for your workmanship but tell me actual price of parts and buy original For God's sake. Mechanics are just wicked, and heartless.

When buying anything that pump's (power steering pump, AC compressor, oil pump etc) and shock absorbers, your best bet is new and OEM.

Good morning Everyone.

What could be the reason for my car jerking when I’m accelerating especially when it’s changing gears

Mechanic said it’s fuel pump and nozzle. I’ve fixed that but still jerking.

I use a Toyota Camry muscle.

Thanks for your response.
You should have started your diagnosis with a simple scan.

Yep, I import most of the replacement OEM parts, the car has not run without an Octane booster and valve cleaner since I got it, I guess my mistake was allowing them to buy the oil and filter locally during the last oil change.

There were no check engine codes or oil pressure warnings. The new engine installation should be complete by the end of this week tho.

The video you made sounded more like the bearings chewing itself out due to oil starvation. Most likely from the use of a fake oil filter or improper fitting of the filter and not necessarily from the oil used.
There might be no check light on the dash, but your oil pressure light (if it still works) should be on.

So far, once the ignition is leave on for awhile and try to start, it start fine .
You have a bad fuel pressure regulator.
Change complete fuel pump assembly.

Good morning. I own a Toyota Camry 2008.
Most times when I reverse early in the morning, the car makes some noise around the tyre and then when I drive it stops and maybe when I use the brake often in speed bumps, it makes noise.

So I went to the mechanic and I was told that the shaft and hub was the problem. I changed the shaft and they fixed the hub.

Just less than 5 hours of driving, it started again.
What could be the problem.
It’s getting worrisome for me cos i don’t know what the problem is and I fear it shouldn’t affect something else in the vehicle.

I’d really appreciate a response.
Thank you 🙏🏾
Wow!
Your mechanic should be flogged.
From your description, you seem to be having a brake screeching noise. If that's the case, inspect your brake pads, lock pin and or brake shinguards, and also brake discs. Replace and or adjust defective parts.

Since you do t have any codes, then it is not electronics , look into possible mechanical issues like low fuel pressure .
The mechanic want make the issue escalate so it would be worth fixing grin

Changed spark plugs and one ignition coil
Also before that, car was doing break and quench and being very sluggish

So we cleaned MAF and throttle body
The rewire also adjusted something on the electric throttle pedal
The codes you got would definitely cause all issues you're experiencing. Changing coils and plugs might not be the right approach.
You might have to run a live data stream to know what's really happening.
For your timing code, your technician would have to go over the car's timing and associated components to be sure nothing is off.

Remote diagnosis would be difficult.
Physical inspection and diagnosis would be required.

Good day all,

Please I have a 2007 Automatic Toyota Yaris, petrol, which uses an electric throttle

The issue is that it will accelerate to 70 or 80mph and won't go past that level no matter how u press the gas pedal, it will just become sluggish/heavy

Mechanic said maybe we should change the gas pedal or throttle body

So this morning I scanned the car with my portable Bluetooth scanner
And got 2 error codes
1. P0016 crankshaft position sensor
2. P1585 throttle control unit malfunction
(I have attached the scan result)

Kindly advice on the first steps

Yep it works for me. Just to flush the injector net and rails off dirty fuel and the cylinder head off some stuck carbon.

Remember to dilute it at half tank of fuel to a litre of the thinner to ensure the seals in your fuel pump and injectors remain safe.
I hope he takes this serious.

Always use genuine oil and filter for the replaced engine.
I've seen so many 2GR's suffer engine failure from fake filters

Please, what could probably cause occasional hard starts on a Hyundai Sonata 2013 (turbo)? If I start the car in the morning, it runs fine. However, when I park and try to restart it after a while, it has a hard start. If I switch off the car and restart it, the car runs fine again, and there's no engine light code on the car. The mechanic advised me to keep using it until the problem shows itself. Also, the car runs fine.
Try this. Turn on the ignition without starting the car and leave it in that position for 5 seconds then start. If it starts fine without delay, then you'll need to change your entire fuel pump assembly.

Yes I was advised, but the rattling isn't even the major issue, so I went to another shop, someone suggested their name on nairaland here, shop name is Nuel and partners auto ltd at adebowale Akure, the car was scanned and he said my crankshaft position sensor wires were connected wrongly, he corrected it but the engine was still taking longer than usual to start up and was still vibrating in drive and misfiring, I was told to test drive it for the day and see if it would start the next day and so I left
The next day it would not start and I called him, he sent one of his apprentices to my house to have a look, the crankshaft code was still there but then the apprentice took out ignition coil on the first plug, stuck a nail and had the other side of the nail on the engine to confirm spark, there was no spark, he did it for the next ignition coil, there was no spark, so he called his boss, and the boss told him to check the fuses.
The apprentice took out my fuses one after the other and stuck them back in, told me none of the fuses was bad, after the check, he started the car and the engine came up immediately, no hard starting, sounded very fine, we drove it to their workshop and it drove really smooth, responded properly to the gas pedal and d vibration was gone, that was two days ago, yesterday I drove a total of 17 miles and the engine ran great, I'm still not so sure the problem is gone but they habe definitely touched where the issue came from, I didn't buy anything only paid for their service.
I am happy and hope this issue never cimes back, in all of this what I noticed is after the first day the issue if hard starting went away the next day (yesterday) I discovered my fan wasn't running when I started the car (the fan is direct so it should always run) the same shop sent me their rewire to fix the fan and the relay was damaged, burned, that's it.
Could fuses not contacting well or a burned fan relay cause issues like hard starting/no start/no spark, engine vibration at idle when it started, and engine cut outs?
@jceeesquare, thanks for replying, the engine isn't GDI it's lambda V6 DOHC engine, an older engine before GDI came.

Yes a partially connected fuse will trigger so many circuit issues.
In automotive school, we were taught to always check all fuses 1st before wrenching.
Good to know your car was fixed miraculously.

Sure, I can tell you about Honda's cylinder deactivation technology, also known as Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), and its potential downsides.

What is VCM?

VCM is a fuel-saving technology used in some Honda engines, primarily V6s. It essentially allows the engine to run on three or four cylinders instead of all six under certain driving conditions, like cruising on the highway. This reduces pumping losses and internal friction, improving fuel efficiency by up to 6%.

How does VCM work?

VCM uses the i-VTEC system to deactivate one bank of cylinders (three cylinders) by stopping fuel injection and valve operation for those cylinders. When the engine needs more power, VCM seamlessly reactivates all cylinders.

Potential downsides of VCM:

While VCM offers fuel-saving benefits, it has been criticized for some potential downsides:

Increased engine vibration: When running on fewer cylinders, the engine can vibrate more noticeably, especially at low speeds. This can be perceived as a lack of refinement.
Image of Honda Pilot engine vibrationOpens in a new window
www.ebay.com
Honda Pilot engine vibration
Premature engine wear: Some owners report increased wear and tear on engine components like mounts and lifters due to the additional stress from cylinder deactivation. However, there is no conclusive evidence to support this claim.
Oil sludge buildup: VCM can contribute to oil sludge buildup due to lower engine temperatures during cylinder deactivation. This can potentially lead to engine damage if not addressed through proper maintenance.
Reduced towing capacity: When VCM is active, the towing capacity of the vehicle is often reduced.
It's important to note that these are potential downsides, and not all Honda VCM engines experience them. Some newer VCM systems have addressed some of these concerns, and following proper maintenance schedules can help mitigate the risks.

Ultimately, whether the benefits of VCM outweigh the potential downsides is a personal decision. If you're concerned about the technology, you can research specific models to see if owners report any issues. You can also consider disabling VCM altogether, although this may void your warranty and impact fuel economy.
You have a way of typing so much but saying so little.
