This was the album that started it all,when the trio of blackface,tuface & faze dropped "body & soul" there was no such thing as naija R&B.propelled by hit singles like knock me off,ememma,if life,you & i e.t.c body & soul became an instant collectors item and was on top of the Nigerian charts for months on end.till date no one has succeeded in duplicating this classic album.

UNCHAINED-Sunny Neji
What sunny neji did with this album was show us that with a lot of experience,you can make a solid R&B album without breaking a sweat."unchained" was an album for everybody.from kids to old folks,no one was left out.with hit singles like idemnobo,oruka,face me & tolotolo mr fantastik had the whole nation under a spell.simply put "unchained" was sunny neji at his peak laying down the blueprints of naija R&B.

FACE TO FACE-Tuface
For those who don't know "face 2 face" was the debut album of the most talented artiste in Nigeria,possibly Africa.the only Nigerian album to ever produce a world wide hit(african queen) which topped musical charts from coast to coast.with hit singles like "ole,nfana ibaga,keep on rocking,you no holy pass,right here & the afore mentioned african queen" the album sold over 2 million copies and won awards too numerous to mention.

GET SQUARED-P Square
If not for mary slessor,we would have missed out on this great album.a lot of people might not know it but peter & paul's sophomore album had a massive impact on the naija R&B scene & the whole naija music industry(video wise).almost every song on this album was a hit.songs like bizzy body,get squared,temptation,omoge mi & your love deservedly put p square on top."get squared" positively changed the naija R&B scene continentally and globally.

HITSVILLE-Paul Play
The magic started immediately paul play realized that papa na papa,pikin na pikin and stepped out of his father's shoes which was becoming too big for him to fill.hitsville was a straight forward R&B album(unadulterated).The album which spurned hit singles like "angel of my life & forever" made paul play a household name in Nigeria and raised the bar for naija R&B.This album made people realize that it was possible to make R&B just like the pioneers & the kings of R&B.

They say you can't write down what you didn't read in an exam unless you cheat and ruggedman has run out of cheat moves.he has only one more move to make & he knows this like i know it.It ain't hard to see that ruggedy is in deep shit(excuse my french).mode is going hard at him,illbliss is dissing him subliminally,M.I is killing every beat in sight and jaffar & company have left him.it is 2009 & the rugged one has become irrelevant in the rap game,rugged records exist only on paper & nobody is wearing 20th september.so what is his next move?

Storm records is not interested in him as they already have their hands full.he doesn't have a hot single so obaino didn't give him a deal.he won't sign under olu maintain (kentro) or eedris(lakreem) cos he already dissed them and they are now better off than him.ikechukwu is gravitating towards mohits which makes it impossible for him to go there.Am i the only one who thinks ruggedman is about to join kennis music,i saw this dude @ D1's birthday bash and with the way he was kissing keke & d1's ass all day.you wouldn't need a soothsayer to tell you he was begging for a record deal.i thought he hated them or couldn't stand the sight of them(i remember big bros & peace or war vividly incase y'all forgot).i know there is a thin line between love & hate but we have to draw the line somewhere.

How did ruggedman get to this point.if you ask me i will say ruggedy fell off in 3 phases.

1.Ehen pt 1:The major problem with dissing people is that you have to stay true to your words(keep it real) & you have to be extremely better than whoever you diss.sadly ruggedy does not fit this profile.ever since ruggedy made ehen pt 1 he has been steadily retrogresing.he never made ehen pt 2 & he couldn't even pull off a joint album with faze.Eedris has been waxing stronger ever since & olu maintain is living large courtesy of yahoozee so it is safe to say ehen pt 1 destroyed ruggedy more than his frenemies.

2.Ruggedy baba (sophomore album):Having only one hot song on an highly anticipated album is never a good look,infact it is totally unforgivable especially when you are claiming to be the best.ruggedy totally ethered himself on this one,he had his one & only chance to claim naija's rap throne & he lost it.

3.Modenine's deathblow:Let's not get carried away and overhype deathblow.it was more of an uppercut than a knockout.though ruggedy is on the ground,we have not counted to 10 yet.this is quite similar to sam peter vs vladimir,sam went into that fight without proper training & see what happened to him.the fact is ruggedy got too comfortable that he didn't see this coming.he still hasn't recovered from the blow enough to give mode a proper response.did i hear you say "banging"!!!.guy,ko banging si mi leti o, the hunter just became the hunted.

A lot of industry peeps dislike him cos he came into the game too easily & got too cocky.they say in the land of the blind,a one eyed man is king.with the emergence of exceptionally talented rappers on the naija rap scene.the public just realized that ruggedman was a one eyed prince and thus started his downward spiral into oblivion.

Karma is a bitch and ruggedman is about to get bleeped,he has only one more move to make before time runs out.whatever he does next will determine a lot,in short it will determine everything.this might just be the beginning of the end for the rugged one.]

COMMENTS:Weird mc is the 1st & only female rapper to release a classic rap album in Nigeria.Words ain't enough to describe how hot her after the storm album was,simply put it was exceptional.in a country where the average artists stays on top for a maximum of 4-5 years the weird one has been around forever.to come out 10 yrs after her last hit & make a splash like she did is legendary.]

[I don't always do this but it is not every time you hear a truly talented Nigerian artist.if you have not heard oluwe before i suggest you go grab a copy of his album "HAPPY DAY" if you can find it.

Oluwe is like 9ice on steroids(x3).i mean this guy is f*@king awesome.
Listening to his album is like an initiation,the way he brings you into his world without even trying is amazing.he blends apala with hip hop in ways never imagined.
from the first track he shows you he means business & he keeps on doing his thing without following any laid down protocol.dude is a beast on the mic.

Oluwe has got this raspy voice you are bound to fall in love with immediately you hear it,but before i tell you why i think he is the future let me explain to you how i came across this guy.2 or 3 months ago i was at a friend's place & was thumbing through his cd rack when he pulled out oluwe's album & told me to listen to it.i declined immediately cos i hate listening to upcoming artistes as most of them end up being copy cats with nothing to offer.fast forward to 3 weeks ago & i am at the barbershop getting my hair cut and as usual we are talking about everything from football to music when he asked me if i had listened to oluwe.it was at this point i realized i was hearing of oluwe from 2 people who i have great respect for cos of their taste in music.it's not like these guys listen to anything but good music.unfortunately i was in a hurry so i didn't get to listen to it until a week ago at the barbershop,and it was after one week of listening to my copy(i had to get mine) that i finally came to this conclusion.

From start to finish "happy day" is an excursion through the dark mind of Ajayi Olumide (oluwe).The bulk of the 12 track album is produced by samklef,while ad10 & shogun take charge of the rest.the album starts off smoothly with "oronyon" followed by "oluwe mawe"(where he glorifies sensi/ganja/mary j albeit secretly) but the song that takes away all the glory is "my home" where he shows his love for naija by imploring Nigerians in diaspora to come back home and he somehow succeeds in making you believe that Nigeria will be great.Most of his tracks like "pelebe,sare,mr apala & akololo" are heavily infused with metaphors and proverbs,so you will have to keep hitting the rewind button to stay in touch.in whatever way you look at it,oluwe succeeds in passing his message across.

In the midst of all the booty shaking & booty worship going on in the industry,oluwe is a breath of fresh air.what makes him stand out is his ability to make timeless music.he makes music that can exported.it's music like this that generates cultlike following.]
