MonsieurCoder: @jivi I wanted to help texture the arm to goat skin, checked github but didn't find the weapons undecided .
Nice. I have one of the weapons committed to \art\models\weapons\m249. Check hand_tex.jpg for a sample texture for the hand.

Not yet oo..
Are you polishing it to details? or

@kennikazi
Are you done with the story?
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 11:14pm On Nov 22, 2013
@Bulldog
lol. You should have posted this. If you just convert the hands to human hands with 3 to 5 fingers, It could serve as an additional goat model.

@Javanian
Currently, the project is not open source. Although, the assets are reusable. Whether it should be open source or not is actually a topic we have not discussed. We have also not decided on the game engine but we are not rushing on that yet. We are putting our focus on the required assets to start development eventually.

I have acquired the fps animation of the following weapons
ak47
aug
axe
bat
desert eagle
famas
jackhammer
knife
I85
m4a1
m203
m249
mp5
p90
spr

so, we would need the arm of a goat to replace the human hand or maybe retexture the arm to a goats skin

It looks great.
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 8:59pm On Nov 22, 2013
kazuna: @Jivi...so we are using d models and d style. Now that weaponz building...will i do the interior design? I'm sure much action will happen inside d building?
Yes, we are using the current environment and style and we would need internal design for the weapons building.

I think the remake is great. Anyone think otherwise?

dueal: @jivi. so its environ realistic whict xters stylized...something like TMNT(turtles)?
yes, exactly like TMNT
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 7:45pm On Nov 21, 2013
dueal: @jivi...d head sure...i was wondering about dat. One thing though...wats all this talk about 'super realiatic'...i dnt know of any comical game dat has xters in dat kind of environ...to name a few rachet and clank, jak and daxter, spyro, mario, sonic....u get my drift...they all dbt use celshading yet d levels dnt hv props dat r in d 'realistic' category
Well, It means we are probably exploring unclaimed territory which is great. It is always good to be the first to do stuff. I mean those games probably had their reasons for making it comical. The fact is we would prefer to make the animal models more realistic in shape etc but don't forget the reason why you opted to make it stylized because they are shooting at humans which I don't really think is an issue(since other shooting games still shoot at humans whether the shooter is human or not). However, the stylized models would make the goats and cows more believable on two legs. So, we remain realistic in general look and feel while making the animals a little out of usual shape

dueal: @all...i'll b posting some art (xter and level design) for approval with a style i believe will go well with story.

A first look at goatee....suggestions.

Can you make the head a little smaller. I think the character models generally have been okay. I believe the goats or animals fitting into the realistic environment all boils down to the way the characters are textured. Monsters in games do not exist in real life. Yet, they always fit into realistic environments.

Bulldog: goat turning into a fish when it enters a river in bayelsa or maybe flying into space and fighting aliens when it enters edo land
lol.
That's a reminder. We have to still do gameplay design for the barrack level after the story comes in from Kennikazi.
I personally think the drone is a good starting point. This is a barrack after all. Although, we still have to think of the assets for the drones/military trucks.
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 8:57am On Nov 21, 2013
Bulldog: the more complex the game is, the more difficult it'll be to make. @kazuna, since you have the environment models and objects. Why not liason with @dueal and @jjk (They have the model characters and weapons respectively.) in that way things will keep improving. I think there are enough good modellers already as well as programmers so i'm officially dropping my modelling role moving back to sounds and fx.
@Bulldog
What do you mean by complex? Can you please clarify? as in what is currently getting complex?
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 8:54am On Nov 21, 2013
kazuna: @jivi check out this two renders...note d lighting setup, which is suitable..
I think the second one is more suitable for the barracks since it should be sunny.

dovercomer: what is the game engine we are using?
Actually, our current plan is to use dueal's custom game engine but we have not evaluated it yet to come to a conclusion on that. So, he is currently working on a demo/documentation on its usage so we can use it and hence, evaluate it. The engine uses lua for scripting.

kazuna: @jivi, some grunge and bullet maps on admin center....
Will start work on lights maps soon.
Someone should plx try d weaponz....

I can get animated FPS weapons. The work would be modeling different goat hands and using the animated human bones on it. I would see the weapons I can get and based on the available weapon pool, we would decide the weapons that would be used in the game.

nicest of nice ones. Based on lightmaps, we just need the indirect lighting if you can do that. that is total_radiosity_lighting - direct_lighting along with information of the directional light used i.e sun light direction and color.
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 6:01pm On Nov 18, 2013
We passed the story concept phase. not necessarily storyline. Well, let's stay focused on level design. There is nothing to worry about. Let's stop commenting about the story line. This is an unnecessary distraction. Kennikazi is working on it. It does not disturb the current level design.
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 3:35pm On Nov 18, 2013
There is no problem changing the story right now so lets focus on the barrack level design. Kazi is working on the initial barrack mission. So, we are on track.

veektorh: Anyone wiv an idea shld answer please for example I've bin trying to understand dz bool function buh I get error anytime I try to use the bool function for example

Bool startscreen (){
Char input ;
Cout << " welcome to the game " << endl<<endl;
While (true){
Cout << " 1. Play game " << endl;
Cout << " 2. Exit " << endl;
Cout << " >" ;
Cin >> input ;

If (input =='1') return true ;
Else if ( input == '2') return false ;
}
Int main (){ // this is the error line 17
Startscreen();
}

Buh I keep getting a compiler error - a function definition is not allowed here before '{' token on line 17

1. first thing I noticed is that either your while loop or startscreen function does not have a closing brace. }
2. your main should return 0;

@kennikazi
you can get ideas from peterjosh's version of the story for the initial barrack mission
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 4:17pm On Nov 17, 2013
kennikazi: JIVI, PLEASE POST THE GAME STORY THIS THREAD IS FOLLOWING, SO THAT EVERYONE CAN BE CARRIED ALONG. EVEN SOME DEVELOPERS DONT KNOW WHAT'S ON THE BOARD. ITS ADVISED YOU MODIFY YOUR FIRST POST AND PUT THE GAME STORY THERE, FROM THE FIRST MISSION TO THE LAST, SO THAT EVEN THOSE SEEING THE THREAD FOR THE FIRST TIME CAN EASILY JUMP AND BE ON THE SAME TRACK WITH US. PLEASE JIVE, AYAM BEGGING O!
#AND YES...AYAM SHOUTING

I read the stories you guys posted earlier but I was not very focused. I just read it again and I will say you deviated a bit from the initial game story path which included starting the game at the barrack. I stated this earlier (probably not directly, maybe implied) that changes to the story are welcome provided the game starts at the barrack because we have already started work at the barrack. No wonder kennikazi and a few others are confused.

@kennikazi
We would follow your story but please, can you modify it to include the following first,

the initial barrack mission to get the initial weapons. maybe that would be combined with the training.

the GwonGwon story in which gwongwon is killed and is to be used as peppersoup for food but goatie and the other want to rescue him and give him appropriate burial rites.

Finally, a role for General Overseer aka "Our Eyes", the goat that sees it all and has a big eye just to make it funny.

This game has to retain a funny element and that would be reflected in the missions/voice acting/character design/behaviour.
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 8:29pm On Nov 16, 2013
Now that the barrack is taking proper shape. I think we should discuss lighting for the barrack scene.
My suggestion.

The direct lighting should come from the sun
The indirect lighting should come from precomputed radiosity
The shadows should be completely dynamic. Hence, we should use cascaded shadow mapping.
Screen Space Ambient Occlusion(SSAO) for Indirect Shadowing
Lens flare, halo effect God rays and HDR Bloom for added realism.

@kazuna
Are you going to include normal and specular/shininess maps?
Also, will the diffuse maps include aging/dirt details?

the residential buildings should not have chimneys on top of them. Nigerian buildings dont usually have those.
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 6:00pm On Nov 16, 2013
@kazuna
If you have any detailed/repetitive stuff. Can you remove it from the static level design? For example the trees. If the trees are detailed. You could isolate them and create different levels of details(3 or 4) and then using a gameplay level editor the tree can be placed seperately and LOD-culled depending on distance.
Any detailed stuff that can have a lower level detail can be isolated. e.g the cars.
If any repetitive stuff has low poly count. you would not need to isolate them.
Aside from that, this level is great.
Programming / Re: Game Development: Next Gen 3d PC Game Team by Jivi: 5:42pm On Nov 16, 2013
@kazuna
the current buildings are not going to be destructible as jjk24 pointed out. If we want destructible buildings, we will place them later on as part of the game play element. The current design should be static.
