@op. Very enlightening write up i must say. but, i wonder Y "WE NIGERIANS" most at tyms get carried away wit the "Giant of Africa" & must b giving recognition thing, when there is a lot wrong (cause by d leadership & followership). Personally, when i help, i do so because "U" need help & not cos i want somethin back in return...... & i believe that was d case of Nigeria then & SA....... Y dont we ALL just start changing our individual mindset & make NIGERIA our utmost priority & see whether great nations wont be here paying trubutes & eulogy ......... just leave SA, the problem is not them, d problem is "US"
.... long leave NIGERIA.

Maybe its not the dreams but me that is weird. Because I HARDLY dream, and EVEN WHEN i do,i wake up forgetting the details.
But i wont forget this 1 weird dream like 19 or 20yrs ago. Dreamt i was been chased by ghost all over the place. And when they cornered and surrounded me under a tree and were coming for d kill or whateva, i woke up,SWEATING.
After some time,i slept back and had a similar dream again where i woke up again when they were zeroing in,SWEATING AGAIN.
Am not superstitious in anyway, so i didnt read any meaning into it. More over,it has only happen once, maybe that once robbed me off me dreams cos like i said, I HARDLY DREAM.

Politics / Re: Tribalism Among Nigerians In Diaspora And On The Web – A Trend We Need To Stop by Juzhilz(m): 7:23pm On Apr 25, 2012
PBundles: Im sorry to say this is not a trend but something that has always existed. For some it plays a major role, less for others while non existant for some. Its the unspoken truth/shame that we dare not talk about, that in my humble opinion was ignited in our minds by those that should have known better...our leaders.

Pick up any book about our history and it wont be long before you read an insinuation from a leader from a region about someone from another region. It doesnt matter what it is. Just a have a look at the last elections. You had these leaders arguing WHICH REGION WOULD RULE. There was talk about an agreement they made to rotate, EXCUSE ME? Why rotate? Shouldnt the most capable man/woman lead us? If you were dying and needed a doctor, would you first ask what tribe/region they came from? NO, you would want the most capable. So if the leaders do it, what do you think it imprints into the minds of the citizens? How were past leaders judged even governors? By how much they did in their home town. SMH.

Culture for those who dont know is a learned behaviour, so what a group of people do, to a large extent has been learned over time. Shamefully its something we have been infected with and hadnt noticed the impact it has made on us and the internet has simply maginified it, why because some of the things, that many had wanted to say but couldnt, can no be said behind the cowardly computer. We use code names and no one knows who we are and we state what has been in our hearts all along. I could give many examples of things that I know made me wonder in my mind, if it was not tribal/region motivated.

I think the leaders also like it that way, WHY? So we can be smoke screened into the tribal issue and not the real issues at hand and that is the mismangement of our nation. They learned well the DIVIDE AND RULE policy. Hopefully, the thing that brought it to light (Internet) will also open the door to us getting to know each other better.

No matter where you come from and we know how it is at times, one thing is true, Nigerians in general have a warm heart towards that nation. Its not all I want it to be, but I wont throw it away.

Remember, the truth is there are only TWO type of people......... The have and have nots. Thats a fact.

Very eloquently said. Many more of u n 9ja will definately get there.
@shymmex. Some mistakes r rly hard to erase. Now some of them rly dont bliv u. Rly hope u walking on d avenue of change lyk u said. Nice thread though bro.

@Redman44.
I was smilin reading ur piece. U know why? because, from it, i could sense 1 who would want 2 return 2 motherland, but is simply annoyed & mad with d scenario of things & events,1 who have being force 2 believe dat this entity called 9ja will never wake from her slumber. Poor 9ja!! Some selected minority leaders have raped, abused & given her such a bad name that even d children (WE) dont want her. Oh! Poor 9ja.
But wait a sec. Now am thinkin 2 myself - supposin gr8s lyk Martin luther king, Mahatma Gandhi,Malcom x & d rest ran away because conditions then were not comfortable & condusive? Wud history be what we knw of it 2day? At tyms, it takes a little sacrifice, effort & patience 2 get there. I knw its crazy with d reckless persistent level of corruption & neglect of tools of development dat wud pull d common 9ja man out of penury? Mayb das d sacrifice we need 2 bear to trigger dat change (revolution) we desire.
About Damilola? I was tempted 2 think u were d writer because,he went on 2 xray a failing country with infrastructural collapse juz lyk u did 4 reasons why his dad must have left 9ja.
And comparin peckham 2 ajegunle? I think d writer wanted d readers 2 get d picture of a semi-average or low class area,as u affirmed it urself when u said "African's including Nigerians live there". U r ryt though, i have never being outside 9ja, talk more of UK,but i was juz tryn 2 reproduce d writers view. And tanx 4 d corrections. Ur piece was rly informative.
But beliv me when i say 9ja will get there, juz hang in there & do ur best where necessary. 1 luv

Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians So Pessimistic About Nigeria? by Juzhilz(m): 12:25pm On Apr 11, 2012
pretty_boi: @Op,
God Bless you & Thank God you've woken up to realize this. Nigeria is not heaven on earth___VERY TRUE. But Nigeria would sure get better by the Grace of God. The major problem we have is that we have too many pessimists that call themselves "Nigerians." I'm a young chap,I've lived all my life in Nigeria & I wouldn't lie about all our problems but I also know that a lot of things can be achieved in Nigeria that would never be achieved elsewhere just like you said, "pessimists" are just too blind to see these. The truth is that a very big percentage of Nigerians are "mentally lazy" that's why we would always make excuses for our failures & quickly blame the same people "our leaders." A lot of us would always sit around blaming "our leaders" & never wanting to accept that we also play a lot in the problems of Nigeria. Yes a lot of our leaders are/have been failures NO DOUBT but truthfully, they are just a part of our problems just like a lot of ordinary & common Nigerians are. You see people littering their backyards & even some highways with dirt & trash without a conscience & yet these people come quickly to blame "our leaders", in this case for instance,is it our leaders that "POSSESSED" such people & made/make them throw thrash/dirt indiscriminately or drive on the wrong side of the road or beat traffic or be generally INDISCIPLINED & LAWLESS? Anyways, I also blame our stupid & clueless leaders in this case for not bringing in laws that'd punish gross lawlessness & indiscipline. There's one thing I hate hearing which is : "this na Naija, forget that thing"...a lot of people say this to execute & show gross lawlessness & indiscipline. Well like I always say, if we expect one kind of messiah to fall from heaven to fix our problems without us wanting to wake up from "laziness" & contribute our own quota to developing our country, then we can keep living sub-standardly like this & STOP COMPLAINING. WHETHER YOU BELIEVE IT OR NOT, NIGERIA WOULD GROW TO GREAT HEIGHTS THAT WOULD BE ENVIED BY A LOT OF PEOPLE & COUNTRY ONE DAY. IF YOU STILL WANT TO SEE THIS BEFORE YOU DIE, START CONTRIBUTING YOUR QUOTA NOW OTHERWISE ONE DAY YOUR GRAND-CHILDREN WOULD GET TIRED OF THE FAILURES OF THEIR GRAND PARENTS (you) & START CHANGING THINGS & LIFTING THE COUNTRY TO GREAT HEIGHTS & ALL YOU'D WISH IS " I WISH I WERE STILL VERY YOUNG TO LIVE LONG IN THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY THAT EVERYONE ONCE GAVE UP ON." if you still want to see Nigeria great, start playing your role/part NOW! or you can resign to die a failure that never contributed to the greatness of his/her country. #nuffSaid
I could not have said it much better.Would they have being singing d same praise song 4 UK & USA during d struggle periods of Martin Luther king & Malcom x? Come down too com struggle 4 future generation na. Mtchew
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians So Pessimistic About Nigeria? by Juzhilz(m): 11:41am On Apr 11, 2012
@shymmex, am juz smiling & saying Amen to ur decision. If u ask me, it is rationally patriotic.
I remember when Damilola was stabbed & left 2 bleed 2 death by some white UK teens. The reporter that carried d story, started d story with how he wondered why a father wud move his family from Naija where they cud afford to live in any choice location of MOTHERLAND to go live in an equivalent of Ajegunle in a foreign land as 3rd class citizens?(he understood why when he xrayed education, health, etc)
Yes, it SEEMS uncertain for "now",ask urself if u rly Believe that this Gr8 entity will remain like that? Afterall, we hear Rome was not built in a day. It takes gr8 optimistic minds juz like u 2 make d change and d difference. Naija is a virgin land with many untappd resources. Juz save some pay, identify some area of investment or biz and follow ur heart. I wish u all d best man. And i know 9ja will be glad 2 have 1 of her kings back. 1 luv

@Okija_juju. Dude!! Slow down. From ur writings, i want 2 believe u are not a young person,so u should know dat every1 is entitled 2 their opinion. Their is no point in being aggressively bias with insults when som pple do not follow ur obdurated point of view. I personally voted for GEJ. But u shud know dat humans are not perfect & @tyms fall short of expectations amidst MANY issues, & at such tyms,it is rationally probable that d HEAD takes d blame.
What are my saying? Let us learn 2 accept & respect each others views without obloquy, even if they r different from ours.
Lol. U r sooo well read,& i RESPECT that. 1 luv (cos we gat no oda gr8 country than dis)

jmaine: Well it has being common practice for the PTA in Lagos to arrange for trans coy to convey their wards who scholled far away from Lagos . . .and in our time it was the Chisco trans coy who did that way back in the mid 90's . . .

So for those who want to blame the parents for not picking up their wards should shut the hell up . .the main essesnce of this move is to ensure they travel together rather than in isolation where they might be at the mercy of evil strangers or company

now back to the story . .this is quite sad . . .am sure the rouges had a field day . .cos this bus was isolated since night travel is very unpopular these days . .gone are the days when luxurious buses travelled at night in packs with 2 mobile police excorts in each of them

The driver in their usual manner . . .threw caution to the wind by assuming the roads were safe at that late hour . . .cos they always assume at the detriment of their passengers . . .the trans coy needs some serious reviewing of the company policies and their journey management plan . . . News like this are so embarrasing and heart wrenching . . .

Well said.
