He already knows what is coming his way cos he know that he has crossed the line.
By ridiculing his Bishop whom he swore to obey at all times and whom has tolerated from him what no other Catholic Bishop would tolerate..... Mbaka Why?
SpecialAdviser: Mbaka should humbly apologise to His Lordship and serve the suspension. Also warn his congregants never to repeat their action. Attacking the Bishop court is crossing the RED LINE. Were it to be bishop Okobo, the former catholic bishop of Nsukka, Mbaka will serve 4 months suspension We all love Mbaka but he should know that this is catholic church.
The Catholic Diocese of Enugu has suspended Ejike Mbaka from church activities for one month, Peoples Gazette can report, as the controversial priest’s political escapades continue to overshadow his theological obligations on a scale that nurtures unending concerns amongst his senior clerics.
Mr Mbaka was asked to proceed on suspension with effect from May 3 after being summoned by Callistus Valentine Onaga, the diocesan bishop. Mr Onaga called Mr Mbaka in following his repeated clashes with President Muhammadu Buhari and warned that his conduct was smearing the image of the church, the largest of any Christian organisation worldwide, church officials familiar with the matter told The Gazette.
Mr Mbaka sparred with Mr Buhari’s aides in a series of verbal fireworks that included the Nigerian presidency threatening to blackmail the priest as a political jobber and public contract racketeer. Mr Mbaka denied the allegations.
Still, Mr Onaga and other senior reverend fathers of the Enugu Diocese were compelled to step in and mitigate the unfolding public perception tumult that could have far-reaching consequences for the conventional but unofficial church and state relationship.
The church leaders recognised that Mr Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry as an independent congregation that does not fall directly under the main church’s control, he could still be reined in as a priest under the Roman Catholic’s certification, officials said. Following his suspension, Mr Mbaka returned to his ministry that lies north of the outskirts of Enugu city centre, where he subsequently incited his members against the bishop, sources said. Mr Mbaka’s followers claimed without evidence that he was kidnapped by Mr Onaga and handed over to the State Security Service. They subsequently marched on the premises of the bishop on Wednesday morning, looting and destroying assets therein.
The mob also descended on the Holy Ghost Cathedral, again looting and destroying items in the building. The members also went to town to allege that the SSS had arrested Mr Mbaka — generating widespread media reports despite lacking requisite corroboration. The Gazette did not publish the claim.
A spokesman for the SSS denied taking Mr Mbaka into custody or coming in any contacts with him when reached by The Gazette, contrary to his followers’ rumours.
A spokesman for the diocese did not immediately return a request seeking comments. Mr Mbaka’s line was switched off when dialled by The Gazette on Wednesday night.
Before falling out with Mr Buhari recently, Mr Mbaka was an ardent supporter of the president. He endorsed his campaign in 2015 and claimed his blessings played a role in its success.
But as Mr Buhari’s regime failed to tackle acute poverty and insecurity, Mr Mbaka said he was compelled to speak up and distance himself from his regime, describing it as evil and satanic and calling on the president himself to vacate office.
Mr Buhari’s controversial spokesman Garba Shehu subsequently issued a statement, claiming Mr Mbaka’s comments were out of anger for his unsuccessful attempts to corner lucrative federal contracts. The priest denied the allegations but confirmed that he recommended a group of security contractors to the president whose proposals were not acted upon. Church sources said Mr Mbaka’s latest suspension was being viewed as significant for its undertone, but not the first time the fiery priest would face administrative action.
“We know people will link this to his confrontation with Buhari, but he was once demoted from a parish priest to a deputy under a parish priest,” a church official said. “He had also been transferred from bigger parishes to smaller ones for his frequent infractions in the past.”
Still, church officials admitted Mr Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry has been a cash cow for the Enugu Diocese, even though it was built by Mr Mbaka and not directly under its control.
He needs to caution his members and tread carefully...his ex-communication from the church is lurking around d corner. Any form of defiance against his diocesan bishop will be met with the capital punishment from the Holy See, "Ex-communication"
Following the altercations between Enugu Catholic priest, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka, and the Federal government, Vanguard was informed that Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga, invited Fr. Mbaka to the Bishop’s court which he honoured on Tuesday.
Mbaka reportedly hinted his faithful about the invitation and when he got to the Bishop’s court at about midday on Tuesday, he called his sides that he had gotten there, and ever since then his phones went off.
Worries went around the Catholic circle about Fr Mbaka who did not return to his adoration parish in Emene and nothing was heard from him.
His driver was said to have slept at Bishop’s gate since his principal did not come out again to ride back to Emene.
When Vanguard on Tuesday inquired from the Diocesan spokesman, Rev Fr Ben Achi, on what the Diocese was doing to tame Mbaka’s vituperations and political altercations, Achi said “Well, the Church has her procedure in dealing with issues like this.
“No one tells the Church what to do in matters like this. It falls within the competence of the ecclesiastical authorities and trust me, the issue is being addressed.”
It was further learnt that Bishop Onaga invited Fr. Mbaka on Tuesday so as to dissuade him from making further remarks on his faceoff with the federal government on Wednesday when he usually holds special prayers on the adoration ground.
It was suspected that Bishop Onaga could have tactically withheld Mbaka from going back on Tuesday so as to truncate the Wednesday prayer where Mbaka was expected to have further engaged the federal government on their altercations.
The Adoration faithful gathered on Wednesday only to discover that Fr Mbaka was nowhere to be found and they took to protest, asking Bishop Onaga to produce their spiritual Director.
The fanatical faithful carried placards and chanted songs such as “No Mbaka, No Bishop”, ” Bishop Produce Mbaka within 24 hours”, among other inscriptions.
The protesters vandalized the Bishop’s Court and proceeded to Holy Ghost Cathedral where further destructions took place.
Probably envisaging that the protest was getting out of hand, Fr. Mbaka suddenly appeared among the protesting crowd as he was spotted along Igboeze street, close to the Bishop’s court in Independence layout of the coal City.
In a motorcade, Mbaka rode with his faithful along Enugu streets back to the Adoration ground in Emene where he promised to address the faithful and the press on his travail.
The procession to the Adoration ground took over three hours. Mbaka was yet to get to the Adoration ground as at 6:25 pm when he left Independence layout by 2:50 pm in a distance of about eight kilometres.
Ejike Mbaka, spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry (AMEN), has admitted meeting President Muhammadu Buhari with three persons over a contract that has become controversial.
Although the Catholic priest denied meeting the president for any personal gain, he admitted during his sermon on Sunday that the deal in question was a “contract of securing the country”.
He also said the meeting was during Buhari’s first term when he went to “hand over” three white men he never knew but who said “they had the platform to end insecurity in this country under one month”.
The presidency had accused the cleric of seeking Buhari’s removal as president because he was rebuffed after seeking government contracts.
According to Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesman that made the allegation, “Father Mbaka asked for a meeting and to the shock of Presidential Aides, he came accompanied by three contractors. The President graciously allowed them in, and to everyone’s surprise, Father Mbaka asked for contracts as compensation for his support.” ‘SHAME ON YOU GARBA SHEHU — I WAS ASKED TO HELP REACH THE PRESIDENT’
Addressing thousands in his congregation in Emene, Enugu state, Mbaka said the white men in question were in Enugu to request his assistance in reaching the president.
He also attacked Shehu and the presidency for choosing to hide the truth while “you started attacking the person who said the truth.”
He said: “When they talked about giving Father Mbaka contracts, I don’t want to talk about that, I was laughing. It is a laughable, childish accusation. Whoever is saying that is a shame to himself and shame to the people he is representing. The three men he talked about, I am not here to defend anybody’s stupid allegation, but God used that man to tell the world that Buhari’s government is not giving me money. “Shehu, may God bless you for telling everybody that you are not giving me a contract. And these are the three men that we brought that will handle insecurity for the country; they had the gadgets. The white people had the facilities. That was during the first administration.
“They said they will help them in conquering insecurity. They had the platform to end insecurity in this country under one month; under Abba Kyari. I just handed them over to the government people. They denied them of these. “I don’t even know these people. They just came to Enugu and said, can I help them reach the government, that the level of insecurity in this country and how Nigeria has been shipping their oil out, refining and bringing them back, that we are losing. That they have all it takes to revive the oil apparatus in the country and get the whole youths employed and the issue of insecurity will die. These are the three people they rejected their offer, since they know how to talk.” ‘PRESIDENCY HAS SHOWN THEY DON’T HAVE REWARD MECHANISM’
On the one hand, Mbaka said he had nothing to gain from the said meeting, but on the other hand, he attacked the presidency for not having a “reward mechanism”.
He spoke about the people he has helped in life and asked: “All the people they have been giving contracts, are they better than me? Am I begging them, do they know how many people I feed? Fortunately, they reported that they denied me of the contract — which contract?”
“And even the people they are talking about that went there, I didn’t even discuss one percent of ‘if you get this contract’; contract of securing the country? What am I going to gain from it? As if to say when he pushes that, Father Mbaka is no longer a Nigerian,” he said.
“They have shown that they don’t have what they will call, reward mechanism. If Shehu is a human… I don’t even know who the Shehu is. He should be apologising that by now, they have not come down to say nagode Allah for surviving whatever they are passing through. The last person this administration should fight is Father Mbaka talking here because if they speak against me, the anger of heaven will be upon them and how they will end will shock everybody.”
The priest further dismissed reports asking the Catholic church and Pope Francis to discipline him, saying he will be rewarded for speaking against “evil governance.”
“If Rome hears that Father Mbaka is challenging evil governance, Rome will clap for me, so quickly go to Rome,” he said.
“Why I don’t want them even to report this to Rome is because if pope hears the extent of my involvement, they may give me a position I may not like You want to report Messi to FIFA that he plays too much ball? They will make him soccer ambassador.”
Racoon: Mbaka was simply a padre who was desperately lusting for filthy lucre. The day Gandollar stepped into adoration ground in Emene and Mbaka gave him mic for him to talk was the day he totally lost the last respect I used to have for him.
The next federal appointment should go to obowo or okigwe. Immediately I saw lala peeping,I knew the thread was going to fp
Unfortunately it went to Ihite Uboma and Ehime specifically to the wife of Uwajumogu who has just been appointed the Pro chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture Markurdi and Chinedu the younger brother to Nwajiuba was also made a pro Chancelor.
360degreess: Ipob miscreants both on and off line are masters in spreading fake news.. Well maybe they want to console themselves on the death of their terrorist commander..with all the charms he had on his body,he was still wasted like a cockroach by the Nigerian army.
