Episode 2

Me: (screams)! What? All attention was shifted to me in the quality control office.
I ran inside the darkroom and told him to check mine. He requested for my e-mail and password which I sent to him immediately I hanged up. After 20 minutes, Ugo called me back and shouted Olowo, we are together, but we will be camping at Jigawa. Ugo was sounding excited, I couldn’t believe it. Ugo further stated that we both fall into the second stream which is 25th of November 2015. Ugo again? I know you might be wondering why I said that. Ugo and I had been together since our ND days back at the polytechnic Ibadan. We belonged to the same clique. No be cult o. (laughs). Ugo and I alongside Benji and A.Y are good friends. We tagged ourselves the fantastic 4. Ugo and Benji was in the same dept (bus admin), A.Y was in accounting dept, while I was in the public administration dept. After our ND days, and Ugo and I went to Osun state to have our HND programme while A.Y got a job at Portharcourt. Benji had some issues so he couldn’t continue with us. I can’t believe Ugo and I have been posted to the same state to serve our fatherland sure it was going to be a good outing. I called my guys (vision and iya ijo) to update them. They were scared and happy (you know that kind of feelings now). Vision begged me to check his own and when I did, I couldn’t believe the almighty vision has been posted to Zamfara. Iya ijo, on other hand was posted to Niger state; fair enough I guess. Taiwo too was posted to Jigawa but due to one reason or the other, she couldn’t go.
The following Monday was quiet for me as I was in deep s--t of how to get money to start buying things. During the day, I was checking on naira land to get details of the Fanisau camp in Jigawa. I got into the discussion too and I saw a guy who dropped his number for a group chat for all prospective corp member going to Jigawa. I added the number on whatsapp and I joined the group where I met some new friends. I decided to check out the people in the group, added some for some discussion but only one of them stood out; her name……. Janelle.
Janelle is a fair lady according to her D.P we chatted generally about what to do expect in camp and the things to hold and not to hold. We kept talking like old friends. From our discussion, I got to know that she schooled in Calabar but she’s from Imo state. She is one of the crazy type that is fun to be with (oops, chat with I meant). My chat with Janelle continued and I was beginning to enjoy her company whenever she was online. We talked on phone some couple of times, chatted about 2 hours a day and another thing I noticed about her sharp mouth. I have once attribute her mouth with knew, blades, cutlass and sharp thing you can think of. From our chat, I realized that she is for older than me but she chatted maturely like we’ve known each other for years.
Seriously speaking, I’ve been spending more minutes and time on chats with Janelle. Most times we chat till my battery got drained. What would you expect from a blackberry?
Janelle and I continued chatting about the journey to Jigawa and lots of discussions going on in the group. A certain guy named ‘’west’’ created another group for prospective corp members who are leaving from Lagos state. Mr. West came out later in the group and declared that the transport fare from Lagos to Fanisau camp in Jigawa will cost each person N6,500. While some agreed to his price, some other people complained bitterly that the price was just too much. You know Nigeria student now? There is nothing they can’t price. Will you blame us? I remember one of my friends back in Ibadan pricing loaves of bread. Imagine! Them they price bread again?

Episode 1

The Build up to how it all began
22nd of October 2015 was a day I won’t forget in my life. Prior to the reports and news going nationwide that the call up letter would be released on the 21st of October, I put a call through to Ugo and Dare popularly known as vision 2020. I called them to check at their offices (since I don’t have an internet connection here) to know if truly the call up letter has been released. Ugo later called back and gave a negative report. Vision also called back and gave the same negative report and that really made me tensed. I hardly think of anything else rather than seeing the state I am being posted to and let preparation begins in full.
Am sure you might be wondering who I am. I am Ola Olowo born into a family of three, all males and also the last born of the family. An art student, and also the first person in my family to go for NYSC. Being one of the guys wey sabi schools for my department, lots of my course mates had to call me to get the latest information about the call up letter then I decided to check different sites to gets latest information about it. I visited N-------d and I saw different post of people also waiting for the NYSC batch B call up letter for 2015.
Then something struck my mind. TWITTER. That’s the fastest place to get information on anything and any latest going all round the world. I searched for the NYSC official twitter handled I got it, followed the handle, and keeping tabs with all the activities going on there.
From their twitter handle, I got latest updates on it and I never stopped checking and refreshing the tweets on their timeline. Nigerian students are one of the best in the world. Come see insult upon insults. Am sure the operator of the NYSC twitter handle must be really pissed off. While some were asking good and meaningful question, some were raining curses and abuses on NYSC, comparing the release of the NYSC call up letter with the long awaited ministerial list long ago which was delayed by our able president.
It was Past 3pm, something tells me to check the twitter handle again. I picked up my Nokia x2 palasa phone which I have been using for over 4years, (don’t mind me, is Nigeria economy cause am) opened the browser and straight to NYSC handle and began to see testimonies of some peoples saying they’ve checked and printed their call up letter. I couldn’t believe it though and I needed to confirm from at least 3 people before spreading the news round to my guys who were anxiously waiting too. After confirming from 3 people from the handle, I decided to call Ugo.
Me: Ochuko, e don happen o
Ugo: Olowo, you better talk true because tension wan kill me for here o
Me: sure, I have confirmed it on their twitter account. Please check and call me back.
After dropping the call, I put a call across to vision and iya ijo. I was feeling uneasy and kept walking up and down the office like a husband whose wife is inside the labour room waiting for the doctor’s arrival for a good news. I started navigating the quality control office, to my office, then to the darkroom. After waiting for like forever for Ugo’s call, I decided to call him myself.
Me: Ugo, waiting dey worry you now? You want make I do orientation camp for hospital
Ugo: (sighs) Olowo na Yobe ooo

Romance / Love Letter by Kasieze(m): 9:15pm On Apr 14, 2018
“Hello Bimpe",

"I know I have always not been sincere to you. I know I have always not had that guts to tell you that I love you and that I need you in my life. Well, maybe it's because am shy. Maybe not. It could just be that it's cos you’re too beautiful."

"Memorizing the words of love I plan to tell you, have always not been able to stand the smile that radiates from your face. You are a goddess in human form. I have finally mustered the courage to tell you my heart with my pen, since every time I try to tell you with my mouth my tongue fails me. Attached to this envelope, is a robust explanation of all I feel for you. This is only but an introduction."

From your Potential Love,

Aigbe Johnson

--------------------------------------

"Dear Bimpe",

“It's with a heart of love and pen of affection that am writing you this letter. First however, hope you and your family are fine? If so, doxology.”

“Not to bore you with the ink of my Eleganza biro, I will go straight to the point.

My love for you was one at first sight. If I was good with words, I would have proclaimed it to you immediately. However, people say am shy. They said am shy of love and shy for you. All I wish though was if they were in my shoes. They probably have never been in love.”

“Love of course is beautiful. You made me know this. I never needed to talk to you, befall I fell in its chain. I just saw myself loving you and getting tied up in it.”

“I have had to settle with just looking at you from afar. The sight of your face alone was enough. It constantly sent chills down my spine every time I behold it. I thought this would depreciate with time, I however discovered later on that my love for you had no diminishing return. It just kept on increasing.”

“Moving forward I felt I should tell you how I feel. How I feel as regarding the 'you' I see in my dreams. I just can't sleep anymore without beholding your beautiful face.”

“Recently, my friends have told me of my preference of sleep to work. I wish they knew why, they probably would have become dreamers too. Or should I have said sleepers?”

“Well, 'dreamers' is just fine for me. I now feel the spirit of Martin Luther King living in me. Soon I will declare to the world that I have a dream.”

“A dream that one day you will be in my arms. A dream that one day, I will hold you by the waist and you hold me by the neck and I stare intently into your eyes and say "I love you".”

“I wish this dream can come to pass. I know it will. But I wish it can come to pass sooner. Sooner that I expect! Sooner than you expect! Sooner than this letter even get to be read by you or a third party. Because the Doctor said I might not leave the sick bed. He said so many things as well.”

“And if I could change the hand of time, I would have made things to happen faster. I would have mustered the courage to tell you rather.”

"But now am here. Here tied up by your love to the bed. Bed of affection, with the clothing of lust. Lust for your eyes not just for sex. Sex with your soul not just your thighs."

"But constantly I keep thinking. Thinking if I would ever leave this sick bed. With the syringe of pain injected into me daily and tablets of regret taken in hourly. All for not mustering enough courage to tell you how I felt"

"But here am I, still battling with the thoughts. Thoughts that another guy oblivious of me and my feelings coming to snatch you away from me.”

“And so I keep on still thinking, should I rather die in the evil of my taciturn, or watch a total stranger show you love when I know I could have done better.”

“No I can't allow it. I can't even stand the sight of another guy one meter away from you, much more this.”

“I might just go crazy, crazy even after am dead. Dead even after am gone. And gone even after am no more."

"And so I say Bimpe, picture the romance between the sun and moon in an eclipse. Picture the affection that ran through the blood of Jack that made him gave his life for Rose.”

“Both put together, is only but a tip, a tiny fraction, an infinitesimal quantity of the plethora of love-line that runs through my vein for you."

"For you I would rather have no heart. None of my own. The beauty of the one beneath your chest is enough to let me live.”

“Take my heart Bimpe. Take yours too. Be my life-saver, be my boo. Cos without you, there is no need living.”

From your Potential Love,

Aigbe Johnson

Don't you just love my new cover?

*****************************

"You are something else, you know that right" Anna said to me as we were busy cleaning up the place after I have successful driven every one out with a false alarm. I chuckled.

"You just started shouting Polices! all of a sudden and everyone just disappeared."

Anna went on, as she bent down to pick some empty bottles under the table.

I shrugged. "I never knew it would work, I just needed to get them out. The place was too crowded Anna. I hope you weren't angry that I ruined your party" I replied, standing up straight".

Anna laughed. "I never expected you could even endure the noise for that long, I expected you would chase everyone out each as they come in. Besides.." She continued, throwing me a bottle of an unopened beer..."You told me no one has ever held a party for you and I wanted to do it for you..you know..as a birthday gift".

I was surprised. Anna was unbelievable. "You didn’t have to do that Anna! Having the both of us alone in a quiet place would have actually been the best party gift."

She shrugged. "I know..well..let's just say I did it partially for myself too...been long I had a party like that" I laughed and threw the dirty duster at her which caught her face.

"Yikes" she screamed and docked, collapsing on the couch. "And the next time we meet Leo, remind me I wanna cut his dick off."

"Oh no, you wouldn't"

"Kathy.." SHe cried."What he did was awful, he needs to be punished. On your birthday, in your room and worse on your bed!"

Oh well..I knew the gravity of what he did but I just didn't feel like avenging anyone. Especially someone I never really had a real feeling for.

"Let him go Anna, he just made things easier, I ve been wanting to break it off a long time ago you know".

Anna smiled and gave me that suspicious look I knew so well.
"oooo..you mean you mean you ve been wanting to break it off since you started dreaming about that hot guy right, right..?"

I continued cleaning the table, ignoring her. "I have no idea what you are talking about."

This only made her rush quickly to my side. "But but..Kat..aint you a little bit curios about how he really looks like?"

I made no response. "You need to walk over to him in your next dream and see his face."

I said nothing. "Kathy Common, say something."

I knew I could not avoid this forever..."It was just a stupid dream Anna, nothing serious."

"Maybe if you had seen him once in your dream' You yourself told me you dreamt about him almost three times now. It is not a stupid dream . Please go with me to see Lucinda Don't you believe in dreams, and love and soul mates?"

I sighed and faced her."No Anna I don't. And I'm not going to follow you to see some witch!" I snapped at her."

SHe is not a witch. She is a psychic" Anna retorted sharply, throwing her hands up indignantly.

"WHat's the difference? This is Africa, not Europe, anything that is out of the ordinary is spiritual to me and demonic best covers it." I snapped back and she gave me a scowl.

Anna could be such a great pain in the ass. I got so confused some times, when I tried to think who owned my life between the both of us. I was sure if I had a mother, she would have been a lesser pain in the ass. She has been asking me to see Lucinda for a while, she said she is some sort of psychic,s someone that can interpret dreams and see the future and other weird stuff. I se her as the devil’s sister or who else will have such power?

"I just know all those night mares of yours are very special and important and I want to help" She continued stubbornly and then her phone rang.

I exhaled.

"You won't get rid of me that easily" She said as she rushed to pick the phone.

I shook my head, giving an exasperated sigh. Then I packed my hair in a ponytail with the band on my wrist, pulling the filled bin bag with me.

Opening the door, I embraced the fresh hair as I dragged the bag with me out of the apartment.

It was late in the night and quiet. I loved quietness. The air was so cool and refreshing. I dumped the bag beside the first one I had brought outside earlier.

I bent a litle so I could fold the mouth and prevent any dirt from falling out. As I did so, my mind drifted to the conversation I just had with Anna. Yes, I have told her a couple of dreams but not everything. She never knew I had started having those dreams when I clocked 18 and when I was still with my foster parents. I never knew my parents and I wasn't concerned. Didn't even know how I was born. I kept going from one foster home to another until I ended up in Port-Hacourt where I started working as a restaurant as a waiter, I had met Anna the second year.

The dreams about him had always been the same thing..I had always found myself in an abandoned field and he was usually so far way that I could only see his back and black curly hair. I could deduce he was huge and looked like a fighter..or maybe he hit the gym a lot.. Each time I tried to get closer and see his face, then the nightmare starts..I dreaded the nightmare and it happened every time my birthday was close.

Anna never knew that, she only knew that I dreamt of some hot guy before I woke up screaming since the last few days before my birthday.

I didnt want to remember the night mare, it changed every time each even more dreadful than the former. Right now, I knew tonight would be exceptional..perhaps the worst I have ever had..I could feel it deep down ...deep deep down and I was scared.

I took a long deep breath and stood up as I heard Anna open the front door, she was bringing out the last dirt.

Just as we finished packing everything, she brought out a necklace with a pendant that looked like a half moon.

"This is my birthday gift for you sweety, I know you won't go with me to Lucinda so I got something for you I heard, it gives sweet dreams, chases demons and fufils wishes. I do hope it brings you closer to your soul mate, chases your demonsand removes every night mare from your life. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEARY, I love you so much."

I was close to tears as she embraced me and fixed the necklace around my neck.I held the pendant in my hand and smiled. That was like the hundredth time she had given me a gift and each time always drives me to tears."Thank you . Now that is the best birthday gift ever "I said and embraced her again.

"Gosh !I am really so tired. I can't wait to sleep" She said as we walked in together.

I sighed again as I felt the pendant touched my skin, sending a wave of cold through me.
"Me too" I said silently as I closed the door behind me. Click here to read episode 4 and the full novel

Episode 2

I wasn't really sure why I let her talk me into having such a party in our apartment(we share same apartment). people I barely recognized arrived by the dozen. Some I recognised as being some of the customers who frequent our diner, others I have only met them on the road a couple of times. Either ways, the house, both the front, the basement and the main room were crowded. The music was loud and deafening. Everywhere was hot and I was so uncomfortable.

The bump short I was wearing leaving major part of my ass out didn't help as it was too tight and I felt pain all around my waist. I probably looked so tired and worried but the man grinding up behind me seemed not to care. I needed to get out and get fresh hair but seeing how I would need to squeeze myself out of the crowd seemed like a formidable task.

I really needed to find Anna and Leo. Where the hell were they anyway?

Without bothering to explain myself to the ass-hole who had grabbed my waist, I ripped his hands off my waist. It was so crowded, I had to push and squeeze and even crawl to get to the stairs.

Finally I found Anna kissing the face off one guy with whom I recognised as Martins. Speaking of boyfriend, where the hell was mine?

I passed them without interrupting anything and I climbed up the stairs. I needed to get to my room and grab another cloth.

I heaved a sigh of relief as too much people weren't in my way. I quickly got to my door pushing it open I stopped short and gasped as I saw Leo on top of another lady..they were eating each others faces on .....Jesus Christ..on my bed!

They had no idea that some one was in the room and I was sure they dint even hear the door open because of the noise. They were so deep into it.

I at first stood akimbo as they both moaned and seemed lost in their own world. I wasn't angry, I just stood there, watching them. Perhaps, it was the lady that first saw me because she screamed and she must have kicked him in the face that he fell off the bed hitting his head on the wall.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" He shouted at her as he rubbed his head in pain but the lady only pointed at me.

That was when he saw me . He went white all of a sudden and wanted to say something but he couldn't.

I stood, without looking angry or mad, almost like a statement, I told the lady, without any tone of threat or warning.

"Get the f**k out of my room!" My voice was low and expressionless and I didn't have to repeat for she rushed out of my room.

Then, putting my hands by sides, I faced Leo. I searched his face, he couldn't bear to look at me. "Get out." I said quietly. He wanted to say something but I guess the look I gave him silenced him. He silently stood up and was about to walk out of the room when I called him.

"Hey..You owe me another bed cover" I said, throwing at him the cover of my bed.

Without saying anything, he took the cover with him and left the shut the door after him.

I knew I had put up with so much this night..it was time I drove every single person out.

Episode 1
"Quit looking into the mirror Dumb-ass..you are beginning to creep me out"

Anna shouted, throwing her handkerchief which barely reached me before it dropped to the ground.

"Your throwing abilities suck Anna. You need to change your arms" I teased, without leaving the spot.

I heard her grimace as she walked towards me, now we were both standing in front of the mirror starring at our reflections.

We stood there for a while without saying anything, I watched her as she squinted.

"But seriously, what do you see when you look into the mirror? I don't just get you. You are not even checking yourself out, you don't make up ..hell you just woke up and you are just starring into the mirror..what is going on Kat?"

I exhaled, facing her. She was looking worried and I hated making her worry..she just worries too much. How do I explain to her? Would she even understand if I tell her that each time I stare at the mirror, I see someone else looking back at me. Not Literally some one else, I mean, as if your body is a different person and the person starring back at me is another person entirely.. she would probably think I'm mad this time.. She has been so worried about my constant nightmares and now if I bring this up, she will probably faint.

No...its better I keep my theory to myself.

I faced my best friend and smiled, roughening her black hair with my hand and she frowned.

"I'm just trying to see how pretty I would look once I rooster 21" I lied. Finally moving away from the mirror and advancing towards the bed. I could hear her heave a sigh of relief as she followed me and we were both sitting down on the bed.

"We are going to have a great party Kat. You have no idea how much responses I've gotten concerning the attendant"

"We are also going to have a lot of poo to clean up..why would you invite so many people. We don't even know anybody"

She shrugged."Well, I know Jonas.." She said in her defence and I scowled.

"Jonas, the dude who brings the papers to the diner"

"yea, at least, and I know Ruby, that.."

"That girl who never even talks to you when she comes to eat" I finished for her. She gave an exasperated sigh and kept quiet. She had invited so many people we hardly know or talk to, to my 21st birthday which was in a few days time. The truth is, we both suck at making friends, this is the reason why it has just been the two of us..almost five years of friendship. We worked together at the diner.

"Well, if its a consolation, Mark and Leo would be coming, we know those two right?"

I sighed and shook my head. Leo was my boyfriend and Mark was hers. I was just tired . The whole party was a big deal to her and she has been working so hard to make it rock. She did the invites and even the planning all by herself. I practically have no interest in the party. Especially not with what has been happening lately. Not with the constant nightmares and now the mirror-thing. The best thing to do is to keep it myself , the party means a lot to her and I'm not gonna ruin it for her.

"Anna, You are an idiot you know that" I teased and she stared at me wide-eyed and was about to protest but I continued.

"You have been working your ass off for this party, You are just something else and I love you for that"

WIth this, she smiled and then said. "I'm glad you noticed and I'm gonna kill you if you dare ruin it for me ass-hole"

I was surprised at her outburst and then I pulled her hair, she screamed and bit me on the hand. In pain, I yanked my hand out of her hair. I heard her laugh as she ran while I chased her.

"I'm just trying to see how pretty I would look once I cock 21" I lied. Finally moving away from the mirror and advancing towards the bed. I could hear her heave a sigh of relief as she followed me and we were both sitting down on the bed.

"We are going to have a great party Kat. You have no idea how much responses I've gotten concerning the attendant"

"We are also going to have a lot of shit to clean up..why would you invite so many people.

Romance / Finding Solace (interesting Romance Story) by Kasieze(m): 8:47am On Feb 20, 2018
Hi guys i came across this lovely story and decided to share it here. Read and enjoy yourself

Episode 1
Heart pounding, lungs on fire, my panicked breath like thunder in my ears. The cold evening air shocking my throat and lungs as I ran faster and faster. My heart beat frantically, if I slip I know my body will pay the price and if I fall I know I am doomed forever. I heard the arrow being shot, thankfully they missed. There were three of them, huge, fast, hyped up like they were on drugs and in their hands were deadly weapons that could send me straight to hell with another shot.

I have been running for the past ten minutes and now my lungs seem as if they would explode any moment. I felt like my pursuers are slowing
down because it was quite dark running in the forest at night but not for me. Branches constantly attacked me, leaves crunched under my feet and big brown logs seemed to appear out of nowhere as if to try to stop me but the wound in my arm was already having its full effect on me. My eyes felt dizzy and my legs grew heavier, I was losing momentum. I stopped, hid behind a tree and looked behind me, I could see flashes of their torch as they looked for me.

In the far distance, I saw flashes of light from moving vehicles signifying I was already by the side of a road I panted slowly, trying to catch my breath, meanwhile, I was losing blood fast, I could hardly keep still; my cloth was tattered already so I tore some part out and carefully tied it around my arm. I peeped again , there was no sign of them. Maybe they have gone or maybe they were laying a trap for me. Either ways, I would not die here. I began to run slowly, pressing my other hand against the wounded one to add pressure to it. I was exhausted and my sweat was blinding me. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something sharp and huge coming towards me, I tried to jump out of the way but it was too late. I screamed as the pain lanced through me, knocking me off balance. As I lay on the ground there, I saw an image of myself, ten years ago, when I was only fifteen years old, my father and my little brother were there. My vision clouded as I saw a figure rushed towards me, my family and my world faded away. Click here to read the full story

Nairaland / General / A Short Motivational Story (keep Your Believe Alive) by Kasieze(m): 11:09am On Dec 19, 2017
A gentleman was walking through an elephant camp, and he spotted that the elephants weren’t being kept in cages or held by the use of chains. All that was holding them back from escaping the camp, was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs.

As the man gazed upon the elephants, he was completely confused as to why the elephants didn’t just use their strength to break the rope and escape the camp. They could easily have done so, but instead they didn’t try to at all.

Curious and wanting to know the answer, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and never tried to escape.

The trainer replied;

“WHEN THEY ARE VERY YOUNG AND MUCH SMALLER WE USE THE SAME SIZE ROPE TO TIE THEM AND, AT THAT AGE, IT’S ENOUGH TO HOLD THEM. AS THEY GROW UP, THEY ARE CONDITIONED TO BELIEVE THEY CANNOT BREAK AWAY. THEY BELIEVE THE ROPE CAN STILL HOLD THEM, SO THEY NEVER TRY TO BREAK FREE.”

The only reason that the elephants weren’t breaking free and escaping from the camp was because over time they adopted the belief that it just wasn’t possible.

Moral of the story: No matter how much the world tries to hold you back, always continue with the belief that what you want to achieve is possible. Believing you can become successful is the most important step in actually achieving it.
