Why do you unnecessarily arrogate to yourself the powers to determine who is scam or not? Anyone who does not want to put his number has the right to do so or not to do so. They do not owe you or anyone else any explanation.

Thanks so much, Stagger. It's been a long time. How is life and business?

OkwaIfugo:

I repeat use if possible 5 escrow for this person
And escrow don't use email and pm so be extremely careful when dealing.

He doesn't want to reveal his number cos he is abroad. While we have many abroad people here that use their numbers perfectly well. Big and serious red flag.

Trade with caution.

I hate distracting threads but I want to ask this OkwaIfugo guy some questions and I am sure people can also learn:

1. Is it a standing rule that you must put your phone number on display to trade here on nairaland? Did the mod or Seun make the rule?
2. I will like to ask Mr OkwaIfugo that why has paypal or payoneer not changed from sending money as email rather than a phone number? Just want to know how smart you are by answering that question.
3. Does putting a number here on an online forum absolves anyone from being scammed? Haven't you learned of cloned numbers?
4. Do you know how many people have my number already after we chatted through email?
5. Is it not through emails that one sends paypal etc? So is there anything too difficult in sending an email to inquire about something?
6. Were you on nairaland when you could be banned for putting your number and email on a thread? Although, that has changed now. Nairaland recommends that you use their PM interface to contact people.
7. Anyone is free to put their numbers on display; it is their choice and it works for them. Not everyone will put their numbers on display. So why attack me for that?
8. Nobody disputes that escrow is not good. I wrote a business ebook which I sold here on nairaland around 2012/2013. And I wrote about escrow services and so on. So I know about escrow. Mind you. This is how escrow works: A wants to buy from B but the trust is not there. So they look for a middleman (escrow). A sends money to the escrow and the escrow holds it in trust for B. After A confirms that B has delivered, the escrow releases the money to B. Escrows were used for large-scale export-import businesses and sometimes together with Letter of credit etc. Don't want to go into exim businesses here. Now small businesses adopted the escrow system because it is safe which is true. Escrows are usually paid commissions for their services. An escrow is different from a guarantor. People here usually guarantees the other person. How many "escrows" here have the time to receive your money and transfer it to another person? Imagine an escrow here collecting and transferring money for about 10 people in a day. Many "escrows" here are also busy with their businesses and all they will do is to say they know this person well or they don't know this person well.
An example: A guy wanted to sell his paypal to me. He said he wanted to use an escrow and I said fine. I contacted his escrow and told his escrow that I will send the money to the escrow and not to the guy. The escrow told me to go ahead. I said "No". He called you an escrow and not a guarantor. The escrow told the guy that if he will receive the money, he will get some percentage which will likely cut down the guy's pay but the guy wasn't happy with that. I expected such because he was called an escrow and he should charge for the service. To cut the long story short, I trusted the guy and I sent money to him first and not to the escrow and since then we have been dealing.
9. The question now is this: Let's say someone is starting this business today. Does he have to have an escrow before he thrives? No. All he needs is to build his credibility and trust with people. And it is left for the people to do business with him when they are convinced either through email, phone, social media, online fora etc.

This is what happened to me last week. I bought $600 payoneer from a lady here last week tuesday (March 20). After we had discussions via the email, she said she sent the payoneer to me. And I sent the equivalent in naira to her. Do you know that I didn't get the money until sunday (March 25). The lady thought I was doubting her but I didn't. From the first time we chatted, I knew she was honest. We also chatted via whatsapp. It was payoneer that held back the money because they were doing some routine checks and the transaction happen to fall into that. I told her that I trust her and that she can go ahead to use the naira I sent because I know payoneer will pay me. This kind of trust is important for my business. Do you think I would have sent the money to an escrow and waiting for more than 5 days? Won't I be thinking otherwise?

I have been on nairaland since 2009. This is Kayjegs. Check this profile. OkwaIfugo just joined in 2012. You can do a comparison of our threads and posts on nairaland to judge for yourself.

Mr OkwaIfugo; this is not smartness. You can say whatever you want to say without quoting my post, please. You are free to post warning to this thread without necessarily addressing me or quoting me. A word is enough for the wise.

Once again to everyone, I am very sorry for distracting this thread. This is not my usual practice but I needed to make some things clear to people. You can also access me via my thread: https://www.nairaland.com/4394431/paypal-payoneer-funds-needed-week

PLS CHECK MY PROFILE. Kayjegs. Have a wonderful day.

OkwaIfugo:

Remember to use reputable escrow while dealing with this moniker.

OkwaIfugo, you have started again today. Do you know that what you are doing is raising suspicion on my person which I detest? Why are you picking on only me here? I think you should mind your own business. Anyone here is matured enough to know if he or she wants to use an escrow or not. At least they should contact me first. Why are you like this? I have not had a business dealing with you before. Is it because I buy at a better rate than you do? I beg you in the name of God, let it be the last time you will comment on my post. You also went on my thread but thank God for people who called you out about your antics.
My advice to anybody: If you are new to nairaland, pls check people's profile and you can tell who they are from there. You can go further to contact them yourself. Check my profile first, look at my posts and you can judge who I may be. Simple!
