Culture / Re: Important Things You Should Know About The Igbo Traditional Wedding by Kazeemakeem(m): 12:36pm On Sep 26, 2019
omocalabar93:
Igbo Kwenu! Yes, Igbo ladies are unarguably beautiful, but the beauty is not just skin deep, it is embedded in the rich cultures and traditions of the tribe.

We will be talking about Igbo Traditional Marriage and everything about it.

1. ‘Iku aka’ or ‘Iju ese’ which is the marriage inquiry
Here the groom has to visit the bride’s immediate family accompanied by his father or the eldest member of his family, if his dad is deceased. This is where the bride-to-be is called out by her parents and asked if she accepts the suitor for marriage, her response determines the bride price negotiation and informing the extended family.

After this stage, investigation is carried out by the bride’s family to check history of illness, hereditary diseases, if the groom is either already married/divorced and other necessary things before informing their extended family.

2. ‘Umunna’ seeking consent from the extended family of the bride-to-be
Here, the suitor takes gift along with him, such as snuff, Kola nuts, palm wine, goat, etc. And this is where the final decision is made whether or not the family of the bride accepts the suitor and his family. The date for traditional wedding is set and bride price list is sent out.

3. ‘Ime ego’ which means bride price negotiation and payment
There is really no unified Bride price requirements especially in Igbo land and people tend to complain of the exorbitant list of items the groom is expected to bring or meet before he is able to marry from this tribe.

It depends on the place, community and family when it comes to this list. But before anything else is done, there must be a final agreement on what to bring as the bride price.

4. ‘Igba Nkwu Nwanyi’ and ‘Idu Uno’ which is the wine carrying ceremony by the bride
This is the last and final stage in the Igbo traditional wedding ceremony and it’s usually hosted by the bride’s family where they entertain their guests depending on their level of affluence in the community for the groom’s family coming and invited guests, they also hire a live band and maybe traditional dancers to make the ceremony interesting.

Usually, the bride-to-be is dressed in the traditional Igbo wedding attire which include a blouse, a double wrapper, a red coral bead necklace and a big head tie known as ‘Ichafu’ or a bead round her head.

The groom is expected to be accompanied by a larger party this time (friends included) and bring along with him the bride price list. He must present the list along with the required gifts to the Umunna before the ceremony begins.

nice thread but igbos are too expensive to marry thereby most of the ladies or men become old before getting married ,most times 40-45 yrs.

Investment / Re: My Review On Legit Online Jobs That Pays Daily by Kazeemakeem(m): 12:24pm On Sep 26, 2019
RiyadhGoddess:
Hello.
I am here to write a review on an online program I found of recent that is Legit. It's 101% real and pays real fast. If you are among my WhatsApp family, you already know what I'm about to talk about.

So lately I've found myself glued to my laptop leaving my biological family members wondering if I've gotten myself into yahoo lol. This program really needs lots of hardwork eh.
So now I take my laptop to my shops everyday. When I am not attending to customers, I do my online assignments.
Though I work with 3 programs or platforms. One international and two local ones I mean 9ja made. The international one I work with is ok but it's kind of difficult to get to the minimum withdrawal threshold if my grammer is right. I need a program that's easy so I work on it only based on my mood. For the 2 local programs, they are my main online hustle and they pay me fast. The task are very easy and fun. Just that this one I'm about to talk about pay high the the other but both are OK. If you want to know about the other one, chat me up.

So if you are always online and not earning money, you need to start now. Don't just waste your time and data reading gossips, fighting, arguing and all. They are people earning money online and I'm glad to be among them. I have tried bidding on freelancing so many times but I no get job so I gave up on that. I had to look for other means to earn to add to what is coming in from my offline business. In the course of searching I found a lot of real programs. I can only do and concentrate on 2 or 3 becauee they are all time consuming. E no easy eh. Most time my butt hurt badly from sitting for hours. They are not get rich quick scheme. If that's what you are looking for, abeg no be here.

I came in contact with this program 2 months ago. At first I didn't believe all that I read on their site but at then I am a person who loves to take risk especially when it comes to business. If we no buy na lie, how we go buy na true. So what I did was to do my research on them and even contacted a popular online marketer who happens to be my mentor today. I threw my questions at him and he gave me a positive review about this program. I also called some other persons to make enquiries and they told me it was 101% legit. Still I wasn't sure of it but I still had to give it a trial. Without wasting time, I registered and followed all the program instruction by doing the task. After seeing that I have the minimum withdrawal money on my dashboard, I requested for my money. I will never forget that day, I was so anxious because of 5k lol. I was really unrest because I wasn't sure if they were real. I kept on checking my phone at every SMS I received lol. Before the end of that day sha, I received my alert o. I was so happy that I added it to my online business. Ever since then, I've been earning from the program even up to this pass Friday.

So it's not scam, though I felt this way at the first time but I've tested it and it indeed pays their viewers.

Romance / Re: You Are Not Here To Be Perfect! by Kazeemakeem(m): 3:44pm On Sep 25, 2019
Wordsfrombimpe:
You are not here to be perfect.

In fact, the universe does not allow perfection. Without breaks and gaps, there would be no growth. Nature depends on imperfection. Fault lines make mountains, star implosions become supernovas, the death of one season creates the rebirth of the next.

You are not here to live up to the exact, precise expectation that you’ve mustered up in your head. You are not here to do everything precisely right, and precisely on time. To do so would require stripping your life of spontaneity, curiosity, and awe.

You are not here to spend your entire life fixing every part of you until the pieces, altogether, create a whole.

You are not here to be perfect, but you are here to be better. You are here to learn. You are here to feel. You are here to take what’s happened and extract wisdom from it. You are here to see what the world is and decide how you could create a better one within it. You are here to evolve. You are here to become.

You’re here to be better and you know you’re here to be better because you feel uncomfortable when you aren’t progressing. Your life comes to a standstill when you get stuck in old experiences and expectations. Often, the very moment in which we aren’t moving forward is the one that we start striving for perfection in the first place.

Instead of the real growth of being human, we decide to become a mold of ourselves, one who is infallible, untouchable, resistant to everything that makes us human.

That is really what we want when we want to be perfect. We want to stop feeling. We want a picture that we can paint each day in our heads that will make all the unknown and the mystery disappear. Within perfection is precision. It is regularity and routine. It is known, it is clear, and in a sense, it is easy. In the end, we all crave that. It is easy to think that striving for this is the answer.

Romance / Re: Develop The Relationship You Deserve by Kazeemakeem(m): 2:54pm On Sep 25, 2019
Adriel3:
DEVELOP THE RELATIONSHIP YOU DESERVE
As you think about what makes a healthy relationship, remember that understanding your partner’s needs involves communicating effectively with them. You don’t need to be a mind reader to know what your partner wants – odds are they’ve told you. But communicating in a healthy relationship means listening. Remember, it’s not about you – it’s about what you can do for the person you love.
Once you know what your needs are, and your partner’s, you can actively work to make sure they’re being met. What would you do for the love of your life? Anything, right? Meeting your significant other’s core needs will take you to profound levels of happiness, love, passion and trust.
What if the road ahead is tough and full of challenges? Problems, obstacles and misalignments are opportunities to push forward and grow. You’ve heard of the phrase, “He/she got too comfortable.” If you’re completely comfortable in your relationship, you probably aren’t growing or changing. Lack of growth is better known as stagnation, which can lead to deterioration when it comes to a relationship. Growth is a product of uncertainty and an act of pushing into uncharted territory. Sometimes discomfort is a good thing, so don’t let fear hold your relationship – or you – back.
None of this means that you need to ignore or play down the differences between you and your partner. On the contrary, appreciating your differences is essential to maintaining a sense of excitement in the relationship. Those little differences are what awakened your interest in each other in the first place, and this is something that you should always keep close to your hearts and minds. Appreciate each other and you will not only appreciate the life you have created together – you’ll revel in it.

TRUST YOURSELF - AND YOUR PARTNER
Trust is the foundation of all productive and healthy relationships. From trust springs respect, and both are necessary for sharing, interaction and growth. And it’s during times of stress and uncertainty, when your mutual commitment can be subject to doubt, that you truly discover how much – or how little – you trust one another. Can your partner trust you to be there for them, even when you’re stressed or uncertain? Can your partner trust you to be honest and clear with them, even when you feel like what you have to say might wound them? Do they trust that you will meet their needs
Trust starts with you. Are you true to yourself? No one can trust you if you don’t trust yourself enough to express your natural essence and personality. Reclaim and embrace the pieces of yourself you may have suppressed. Once you’re comfortable expressing and loving yourself, you will inspire confidence in your partner and the flow of trust between you can blossom from there.
When thinking about how to have a healthy relationship, know that being true to – and confident in – yourself is a vital element in forward-looking conflict resolution in your relationship. It’s important to be honest and courageous when you face disappointment, pain and surprise. The most passionate romances have moments of sadness. Don’t avoid conflicts when they come. Face them honestly and fearlessly, knowing that you and your partner are up to any challenge.
Practice full engagement with an open heart every day. You already know that intimacy isn’t just physical, but consider that it isn’t just about big, serious, capital R “Relationship Moments” either. Intimacy is also about the smaller everyday moments, where you and your partner enjoy playful, honest exchanges that are easy to take for granted. It’s sitting next to one another on the couch watching your favorite movie for the 10th time. It’s making your partner’s favorite meal without them asking you to. If you achieve this level of joy and connection in your relationship, you will guard it faithfully against any assault.
If you find yourself struggling in your efforts to connect, keep pushing. A magnificent, passionate relationship takes work. Practice the discipline of truth and free expression when you experience hurt in your relationship. Learn to communicate your thoughts and emotions in the moment so you can address these issues and avoid seeding resentment that will otherwise emerge later in the relationship.

https://cotenant.ng/news/

Osun is an island state in south-western Nigeria. It has its capital city as Osogbo. It is bound in the north by Kwara State, in the east partly by Ekiti State and Ondo State, in the south by Ogun State and in the west by Oyo State. The modern Osun was created in 1991 from part of the old Oyo State. The three major religions practiced in the state are Christianity, Islam and Traditional. The nickname of the state is “State of the Virtuous (Ipinle Omoluabi)”

The name Osun comes from a river that flows through the state. It is symbolic because it serves both spiritual and tourist purposes in the state. The river is worshiped annually by devotees. It is also a tourist spot as people from different parts of the country visit the Osun Groove in Osogbo. The river also provides water for irrigation for the agriculturally rich state.

saggitarius01:
Good evening dear Nairalanders. I'm sorry I had to create a new account to post this. I am getting really worried about how my life may turn out. I'd be straight and brief as possible so please read and give me any advice you can. Thanks.

A brief rundown about myself.

I am going to be 25 in no time, growing up I felt there is only two paths a young lady should tow...either to forget being a fashonista and all trying to be neck deep in her outlook or calm down, first things first, work hard and make money (if possible be a millionaire before 25). I choose the later and as God will have it, my dream turned a reality.

Now, while I was in this journey of not turning out to be a lady who will never be able to foot her own bills, I forgot everything about being girlie. I never what it means to have female friends or hang out with any, I don't care so much about knowing the latest party and posh places or even taking all the posh pictures like the ladies in my age bracket would. I was focused to a fault. I saved to a fault.

I might not have everything I desire but I am indeed comfortable for a young lady who made it out of the ghetto life of Igbogbo.

Now my pain..

I do most of my jobs from home and therefore I am mostly within the confines of my apartment.
No boyfriend, no fiance talk more of a husband.
I don't have any friend and I don't know to make any friend for as a result of I trying to find my feet in life, I have had, experienced, seen and heard nasty behaviours of human. I keep people at arms length. I am afraid of an average human for I believe anybody can do anything even things you don't expect of them. embarassed

I already observed that slaying and all the girlie ish is obviously not a part of me as i prefer to brainstorm and think of how to expand my business which I know an average lady my age, that is the least of her worries.

I know I need a man in my life. I don't know if it's a stereotype but I think ages 24-26 is the right age (as i have made to believe) a woman should at be at least settled Maritally. How do I go about getting a man to date and marry? Where are the places I should go to? Remember I said I have NO friends so no wedding invitations.

Am I stressing myself? But I am almost 25 and no man and truly in my hearts of hearts I know I want to be a wife someday and have a good family so need to lie about anything. Where do ladies meet their boyfriends? Not the playboys or those with pulled down shorts.

Please what do I do? What are the places to go? I tried hanging out to places for drink but you know how it feels and looks for a young lady to sit out on her own.

P.S. Yes I am not desperate but I am concerned.

Did i make a mistake by holding my life first instead of being all what the social media ladies are?

I just opened an Instagram account yesterday and still don't know how to use the app or what to do there. You can imagine the kind of lady I have become. Yes I can dress neat and combine my wears. Forget ugly, I ain't. I could do a nice make up on my face when ever I have 2 hours to spare. Never a boring fella. I just don't know how to find someone I could share all the happiness, joy and street wise advise with.
Please help me. cry cry cry I am so lonely. I only come on nairaland whenever I am bored. Enough said.

I am open to questions. Any at all.
