I expect Dakuku Peterside to be on the ticket but dem go bring Cole who don't even know road to his village let alone contest for Governor. Dakuku was the best but foolish Amaechi thinks otherwise.

Wike will be laughing in his bedroom. Ameachi is not serious about wrestling power from Wike and PDP.

Politics / Re: Abe Joins Rivers APC Guber Race, Vows To Resist Illegality, Rascality by kcmichael: 7:04am On Apr 18, 2022
Abe has been having a running battle with Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Minister for Transportation for the control of Rivers State chapter of APC.
It would be recalled the battle between Amaechi and Abe of APC had split the party leading to several court cases which culminated in the exclusion of the party from the ballot of 2019 general elections.
However, Amaechi has recently succeeded in installing his loyalists as members of the national working committee of the party in the state.
Abe mocked Amaechi’s declaration to contest for office of President in Port Harcourt saying that he started with a Thanksgiving as if he had won.
He pointed out that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu stands best chance to clinch the party ticket to contest for office of President and win.

Politics / Abe Joins Rivers APC Guber Race, Vows To Resist Illegality, Rascality by kcmichael: 6:54am On Apr 18, 2022
Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Magnus Abe, has declared he will contest for the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Abe, a senator who represented Rivers South-East district in the National Assembly and the factional leader of APC in Rivers State, made the declaration, yesterday, during the inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Vanguard for Ward 4, 5 and 6 in Gokana Council of the state.

Abe’s declaration came barely a week after 10 APC governorship aspirants loyal to the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, signed an agreement to support whoever emerges as the party’s standard bearer in the 2023 general election.

It means he will join other 10 governorship aspirants in APC to contest for the party’s governorship ticket during the party’s primary in May.

Abe, however, said he would only support anyone who emerges APC gubernatorial candidate in the state under a free, fair and equitable contest, warning that anything short of that would be resisted.

“I have not said and I will not say that Abe must be the candidate of APC in Rivers State. I have always said that if we have a fair, free, transparent, inclusive and equitable contest and somebody emerges from that process, as a democrat I will support whoever emerges in that contest and the person will win.

“But if you go and cook up a process to exclude me, it will not work. They cannot decide for Rivers people, Rivers people will decide for themselves. We don’t need a riverine or upland candidate that is known to Amaechi. What we need is a Rivers candidate that is known by Rivers people with the capacity and integrity to deliver.

“That is why I Senator Magnus Ngei Abe will contest for the gubernatorial ticket of the APC in Rivers State. Let me advise the party, we have been through this road many times. We should not make the same mistake again. There should be an end to political rascality in Rivers State, we should not disregard the people and expect a good result.”

Earlier, a former Attorney General of Rivers State, Worgu Boms, said that Abe remained the most qualified candidate for the job. Boms said APC would not exist in the state without Senator Magnus Abe.

APC convention: Nigerians knew consensus won’t work in Rivers – Abe
Former Rivers South-East Senator, Magnus Abe, has spoken on the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers.
He explained that it was not about the national convention of the party nor the South-south vice chairmanship position.
Abe addressed APC stakeholders at the Freedom House in Port Harcourt, the capital.
He said before the contest, members were aware that there was consensus among South-South leaders.
“Everybody in Nigeria knew that consensus will not work in Rivers State and that is how it played out.”
Abe confirmed that some people agreed that there should be a consensus and those who are not favoured by it should withdraw.
“We decided that we will not withdraw because we wanted to make a point that consensus cannot be reached in Rivers without respect for members.”
The former lawmaker said their position was why Worgu Boms did not step down for anybody.
Abe further expressed satisfaction that his ally did not cry when he got to the podiumc

Politics / Court To Deliver Judgement On Suit Against Rivers APC Congresses On Thurday by kcmichael: 7:54pm On Mar 23, 2022
A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt will on Thursday, March 24, deliver judgment on a matter brought by one Ogechi Ogwu-Edwin and three other members of the All Progressives Congress against the former state Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, Isaac Ogbobula.

The court is also expected to deliver judgment in a suit by one Alabibo Soibibo and three others against the APC and Ogbobula.

The two sets of plaintiffs are seeking for an interlocutory injuction against the APC and its former Caretaker Committee Chairman over the conduct of congresses in Rivers State.

The claimants are praying the court to stop APC from going ahead to do anything concerning the Congress because they allegedly refused to allow them access to nomination forms after making payments.

The Presiding Judge, Justice C.N Wali adjourned till Thursday for judgment after counsels representing the parties argued and adopted their final written addresses.

The judgment of the court will determine if members of Chief Emeka Beke-led excos will make the list of delegates to participate in the Saturday APC convention in Abuja or if the party will conduct fresh congresses in the state.

DAILY POST had reported how the former judge handling the matter, Justice I.R Minakiri, had in February recused herself from the matter following a petition against her.

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi, thereafter reassigned the case to another judge.

Politics / APC Group: Magnus Abe Faction Working With PDP Against Our Party In Rivers by kcmichael: 12:14pm On Feb 19, 2022
Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers has accused the Magnus Abe group of working against the interest of the party in the state.

According to a statement issued on Friday, Tonte Amachree and Kelvin Obulo alleged that the group loyal to Abe, a former senator and chieftain of the party, is working with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to “pull down” the party in the state.

The former loyalists to the Abe faction claimed the plan is to ensure that the APC is excluded from the ballot in the 2023 elections.

“We are members of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State. We have been loyal and active members of the Magnus Abe group,” the statement reads.

“Last week Thursday, We were called by Bethel Oko-Jaja and Ben Horsefall who are known leaders of the Magnus Abe group in Opobo/Nkoro and Asari-Toru Local Government Areas respectively, to a meeting where we would sign an affidavit to join in the suit against the APC in Rivers State and its former Caretaker Chairman, Isaac Ogbobula.

“The meeting was held at the house of Worgu Boms, a former Attorney General of Rivers State under the administration of former Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

“The meeting had elite members of the Magnus Abe group like Golden Ben-Chioma and Worgu Boms in attendance.

“The State PDP Chairman, Ambassador Desmond Akawor was also in that meeting.

“He introduced himself and addressed us, advising the group on how to proceed.

“Desmond Akawor assured us that the State government would ensure that the case is reassigned to a judge that would do our bidding, after the former Judge, Justice Minakiri recused himself from the suit.

“Now, this is our grouse. Why would the Chairman of the opposition party be in our meeting?

we had earlier believed that we were working to put the party back together. But with this new development, we believe otherwise.

“How can the leadership of the opposition PDP be in our midst, encouraging us and even guiding us on how to pull down our own party from the inside?

“Why would our people be conniving with the State government and the PDP to destroy our party in the guise of making things right?

“We silently walked out of that devilish meeting with the realisation that we’ve been fooled all along.

“We cannot fold our arms and allow Magnus Abe and his group to mislead us again.

“We cannot afford for our party not to be on the ballot again. We refuse to let 2019 repeat itself in 2023.’

The members called on the national leadership of the APC “to call senator Magnus Abe and his group to order, so that Rivers APC will move forward”.

Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, and Abe had clashed over control of the Rivers APC apparatus.

The tussle between the Amaechi and Abe-led factions led to the disqualification of the party from the 2019 governorship election in the state.

However, last year, Amaechi’s faction triumphed as the supreme court affirmed the sack of Igo Aguma — a loyalist of Abe — as the caretaker committee chairman of Rivers APC.

Politics / APC Set To Postpone National Convention By Two Weeks by kcmichael: 7:56am On Feb 19, 2022
Caretaker Committee to meet President for approval.

The National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scheduled for February 26 may not be held on that day after all.

THISDAY can authoritatively confirm that the convention will be postponed by two weeks.

Efforts to speak to the Chairman, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party, who is also the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, on this latest development proved abortive.

Though there is no formal announcement yet, a very reliable party source informed THISDAY last night that the (CECPC) and the APC governors would meet President Muhammadu Buhari today to propose a new date, which is likely to be March 12.

The source who preferred anonymity said, “The convention has been postponed by two weeks but it is not official yet. The Caretaker Committee and the governors will meet with the President on Saturday (today) to propose the new date.”

Also, a former member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, who pleaded for anonymity, said it was already clear that the convention would not hold, “because there are some things that needed to be done for the convention to hold as scheduled on February 26 and most of them had not been done, with few days to February 26.”

The source stressed that, for instance, one of the things that ought to have been done was zoning of party offices.

He continued: “People have not bought forms and people cannot buy form if the zoning is not done; and forms cannot come out until the zoning is done. That is when aspirants will know what kind of forms they are buying. If you don’t know the zoning, you can’t buy a form.

“There are no committees; all the sub-committees have not been set up as we speak. I remember that at the last convention, there were over 20 committees beside the main convention committee.”

Reacting to the purported plans by some governors and a principal officer in the Senate to foist Senator Abdulahi Adamu on the party, he said “while individuals or groups can have preference, President Muhammadu Buhari has the final say on who becomes the next Chairman of the party.
5
“Whatever you are hearing now are mere speculations because nobody can push anybody. All of them are waiting for the president. Everybody is waiting for the president and that is why until the president says this is the chairman before they can now zone other positions around where he comes from.

“So, they have to know whom; they have to know which zone he is from before they can now zone the remaining offices based on that. But that is not to say that individual governors or some group will not have their preferences. But those cannot mean anything, except such individuals or groups are able to convince the president to now adopt their own.”

Politics / Abia APC Inaugurates New State Working Committee by kcmichael: 9:55pm On Feb 10, 2022
The Abia State chapter of the All Progressive Congress has inaugurated its State Working Committee led by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Acho Obioma.

The former state chairman of the party, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, handed over the reins of the party leadership to him at the party Secretariat on Azikwe road, Umuahia, the state capital on Thursday.

Nwankpa said the emergence of Obioma, as the state chairman of the party, is the wish of its teeming members, adding his reign marked the beginning of a new era in Abia APC.

Nwankpa revealed that APC under his watch rose from obscurity to limelight.

He pointed out that the party cannot be highjacked by one man, who had refused to submit himself to the leadership of the party.

He insisted that there is no faction in Abia APC, rather there is a session of the party loyal to the National Caretaker Chairman of the party, Governor Mai Mala Buni.

In his acceptance speech, Obioma lauded the members of the party for counting him worthy to be their leader, stating that he would do the job to the best of his
He urged members of the party to hold regular meetings at the ward and Local Government levels of the party to strengthen their growth.

He said, “Abia APC has discovered that all Abia residents want a change of the government in the state. We are determined to bring that change to the people of the state come 2023.

“We are therefore soliciting the support of all and sundry to assist us in our quest to bring this change to Abia State”.

The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Engr. Mike Odoemena, told journalists that Obioma, is the authentic state chairman of the APC, while the Secretariat remains that of No. 38 Azikwe road Umuahia.

Politics / Wike: APC Trying To Penetrate Our Party by kcmichael: 6:27am On Feb 10, 2022
Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, has accused the All Progressives Congressive (APC) of trying to “penetrate the leadership” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike said this on Wednesday after a closed-door meeting with party stakeholders in Plateau state.

The Rivers governor had earlier attended the court sitting for the trial of Jonah Jang, former governor of Plateau, who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alongside Yusuf Pam, former cashier in the office of the secretary to the state government (OSSG), for alleged misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N6.32 billion.

After the court sitting, Wike held a meeting with Jang and Jeremiah Useni, a former governorship candidate of the PDP.

According to a statement by Kelvin Ebiri, his spokesperson, the Rivers governor said the visit was part of efforts to reclaim the state for the opposition party in the next general election.

“I do know that there will be bye-election at the federal constituency and state constituency, and then again we are talking about the gubernatorial and national election next year. If the party is not united, no matter how bad APC is, there is no way we can win,” he was quoted as saying.

“And so, for me, personal sacrifices can be made if you’ve fought wars for this country, for the unity of Nigeria. Today, Nigeria is bleeding. Not only Nigeria is bleeding, Plateau too is bleeding. I have no apology to say that the people of Plateau state are waiting for you both to put the party together and then you will just take back Plateau state. Plateau state is a natural PDP state.

“There are disagreements everywhere. There are disagreements in the party both at the national level. So, it is not a question of ‘I am right’. It is not a question of ‘Jang is right; you are wrong, or you are right; Jang is wrong’. It is a question of, for whatever it takes, can we please, in the name of God, leave our personal interests and make our party move forward.

“APC is trying to penetrate our party to make sure that the leadership of the party at the national level is being distracted through one or two persons. But we are making sure that does not happen. While we are doing that, we also want to make sure that the branches are also united.

“If the party is united, then we are sure of coasting home in 2023. And not just the national election, also Plateau state, knowing fully well that Plateau is a PDP state but somehow we are no longer in power in Plateau state.”

Speaking on the meeting between Jang and Useni, Wike said both men have agreed to work together in the interest of the PDP.

“I can tell you that the two of them have agreed. They will meet on their own, compare notes and share. Then, we will later meet. By the grace of God, I can tell you that PDP will bounce back in Plateau state,” he said.

Politics / No More Impersonators In Rivers APC Leadership, Says Chairman by kcmichael: 8:05pm On Feb 08, 2022
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has warned that it will no longer allow impersonators to parade themselves as elected officers of the party in the State.

Rivers APC chairman Chief Emeka Beke, spoke while inaugurating the State Working Committee (SWC) and State Executive Committee of the party in Port Harcourt.

A statement on Tuesday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Senibo Chris Finebone, quoted Beke as saying that henceforth nobody would ever impersonate his office in the State.

Beke said: “No man will ever again claim to be APC State Chairman after today, except me. I have my mandate as the duly elected Chairman of this Party in Rivers State. If he tries it he will be made to face the law.”

He also asked the Rivers Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, to be prepared to engage the APC in fair contest in 2023 and not resort to the judiciary to undermine and destabilise the APC.

“If the Governor is a man, he should come to the field and contest elections with the APC without resorting to the misuse of the state judiciary to undermine and destabilize our Party,” Beke said.

Beke thanked God, the Leader of APC in the State, Rotimi Amaechi and party members for the opportunity to serve as the Chairman.

“Let me, first of all, thank the Almighty God who makes all things beautiful at his own time for giving me life to see this day “, he said.

He added: “This is a new dawn in the history of our Party. I assure all Party members of a level playing field and equal opportunities.

“This is the era to pursue, overtake and recover all that the enemy has stolen from our dear Rivers State. Together in one accord, we shall succeed in Jesus’ name”.
