PoliticalWitch:

1.Price controls is bad economics. If we did that, many rice farmers in Nigeria would be broke...because they won't make enough of a profit.

2.Am against the closure of borders, but let's be honest, if we keep on imporitng , we stifle local production. Not good at all.

The bolded is what's killing this country, always trying to make enough profit.

Why not think of making good quality as those foreign rice, too much profit is what they are after and not what can sustain their business.

If he can't regulate prices, he should at least work on other costs like taxes, transportation, bad road etc. that is hindering rice production and supply

You stupidly close border with no policy on price control in the markets.

Now the greedy ones have taken advantage to hike price of goods of so low quality.

Rice coming from outside the country sold at certain prices after the heavy tax yet it was affordable, same rice planted here are going higher than the ones with heavy tax.
What's the brain in the whole encourage local product scam angry

When there is a good market competition, brands ensure to improve there products in other to compete, now without competition local mills are going gaga and the first thing in there mind is to hike price instead of improving on there products.

Let's embrace the change the majority want. sad

Education / Re: Is This True About First Class Students? by keryj(f): 6:52am On Oct 17, 2019
Unfortunately, Nigerian system is based on cramming. If u say u dont cram, how were u able to recite state and capital without knowing how to spell them, is spelling it not suppose to be part of the concept of knowing the names of those states.

As a Nigerian studying in Nigeria, u need to cram to pass, add a little more explanation and try using synonyms. But if you know what is good for you, read understand first. Going to school does not end in the school.q

Am not saying cramming is good, if it will get u good marks and land you in safe CGPA, why shouldn't you do it. I use to have a lecturer who does not give hand outs because of cramming, he will tell us to takes note as he is lecturing.

Don't condemn crammers abeg, it might just be the only way for them to pass cheesy

sonnie10:

This is not true. Nigeria HND is not considered as an associate degree in the US. Associate degree requires that you complete just 65 credits. But HND from Nigeria when evaluated could get as many as 130 credits. Remember in most cases, a bachelor degree in US requires completion of 120 credits which is even less than what the HND from Nigeria gets.
In some cases HND could be admitted directly for Masters level program but an associate degree holder cannot. The only exception is for certain professionals programs where the professional license is counted as credit towards the bridge bachelors-masters degree requirement. This is usually caped at 90 credits. So in that case, 30 more credits is needed to get the bachelor for the Masters program entry

In summary, are you saying HND in Nigeria can guarantee one access to masters degree in the US?
If false, do enlighten more pleas

gbollykore:
In the Uk if you have an Hnd you can go for a top up degree program for 9 months to convert it to Bachelors degree. Most universities will admit you without any troubles particularly if the Hnd is from the Uk
Universities also offer Hnd programs in the Uk
In the Usa you have to have your transcripts evaluated to Usa standards. Most universities will classify an Hnd as an associate degree which means you may have to do a year or two more to earn a bachelors
However some colleges may consider individual situations work experience and all that. They may allow someone to pursue masters program directly

I hope this helps someone

Yes my dear, it comes handy
