As much as indecent dressing contributes to rape rate, other psychological effects should not be ignored.

It does not contribute anything, stop defending rape.

'What were you wearing?'

As rape and sexual assault victims grapple with life post-trauma, one of the loaded questions that is sometimes asked is, “What were you wearing?”

The unstated but troubling implication is that if the clothes worn were provocative enough, then that may affect the level of sympathy offered.

But, as an exhibit in Belgium proves, the question is useless, and harmful, in determining a motive for rape.

Called, “What were you wearing?” the exhibit at the Centre Communautaire Maritime in Brussels features replicated clothing items similar to those worn by real victims of sexual assault, and attempts to disprove the myth that provocative clothing incites rape.

Replicated from descriptions of clothing worn the night survivors were attacked, the exhibit proves that clothing never justifies or incites rape.

Featuring items such as pyjamas, tracksuits, even a child’s My Little Pony shirt, the exhibit shows clothing as innocent as the victims themselves.

The organisation behind the exhibit, the prevention service of Molenbeek, opened the exhibit to "create a tangible response to one of our most pervasive rape culture myths" because "The belief that clothing or what someone what wearing 'causes' rape is extremely damaging for survivors."

With the exhibit, the organisation wants to prove that a person’s outfit can never be seen as a mitigating circumstance or provocation by a rapist.

According to Lieshbeth Kennes, a training and counselling employee of CAW, who spoke to VRT1 Radio, “What you immediately notice when you walk around here is they are all very normal pieces that everyone would wear.”

And, referencing the My Little Pony shirt, Kennes states: “The exhibition is also a harsh reality: most victims of rape still know exactly what they were wearing at the time.”

The exhibition, which can be seen at the community centre of Molenbeek in Brussels, is open from January 8 to 20.

The Independent has reached out to the community centre for comment.

Tecno, infinix and itel are under one company... I suspect gionee too because they make phones with high battery capacity, whereas phones that sell internationally such as Samsung and others have lower capacity and foreign functions.. Still these phones remain the best for us, cheap and suites what we need in terms of electricity...

Gionee sells internationally (not just china and Africa), their phones are even reviewed and featured on GSMArena.

Well.... this doesn't look like marketing to me. I think Tecno is for Nigerians.

What other smartphone brand produces quality phones at affordable prices biko... show me one and i'd gladly throw away my TECNO device and never use TECNO again. My dear, you are right, marketing or not, even though this doesn't even look like marketing.

You're a marketer so your opinion is invalid.

As for other OEMs, we have Infinix and Gionee producing better phones than for the Nigerian market.

That happens with fake memory cards.

Transfer photos directly into the internal storage, if they display without issue but don't display when in the card, then you have a fake memory card and should replace it.

Politics / Voters Shipped In From foreign lands for 2019 elections by khalhokage(m): 6:51am On Apr 07, 2018
This is the saddening story that just popped up on my twitter timeline.

I made a chilling discovery yesterday, I traveled to Zaria two days ago. I met a young man of less than 30. He was a shoe shiner. He looked cool and calm. I needed to have my shoes done so I invited him.

While he was shining my shoes I decided to engage him in a conversation. While we got talking I noticed his hausa language, though fluent was not the kind we speak here and that made me curious. I asked him where he came from and he replied, 'Niger'.

Immediately I knew why his hausa sounded so awkward. Then he continued, "an kawo mu muyi Zabe ne", he said in broken hausa. Meaning, We came for elections. I was shocked at his comments. He pulled from his pocket a card that was clearly a voters card. He said someone came and offered them residency in Nigeria if they would vote for a man who would make them Nigerians.

According to him there are buses who convey Nigeriens daily into Nigeria. They are registered and given voters card. Their duty is to keep the current government in office beyond 2019. embarassed embarassed embarassed

I can't get the PVC I applied for for years now but a foreigner gets one without stress?!
We are finished in this country.

I'm not talking about specs, it's always a disappointment in relation to the hype, Tecno marketers always overhype these devices and when they're finally released they can't measure up, and this is no different from what I've seen of this one.

Nawa o, When did northerners start caring so much for Igbo people?
This looks suspiciously like a carrot on a stick.

Igbos don't need an Igbo presidency we need good governance, it doesn't matter to me where the president comes from as long as he's a good leader and Buhari is the polar opposite of a good leader.

Agriculture / Re: FG Blames Benin Republic And Cameroon Of Sabotaging Local Rice Production by khalhokage(m): 4:22pm On Apr 03, 2018
SternProphet:

So if you are a PDP supporter you probably don't follow up on things.
So this is what is up, let me explain elementarily ; Nigeria raised tariffs (that is import duties, ...wey dem dey pay for port or even before load come..before dem dey do clearing ) *it is important to explain carefully to dumb Nigerian youths these days *
Anyway, immediately Nigeria raised duties, Cameroon and Benin Republic lowered their own import duties and started allowing the exact volume that Nigeria restricted into their own country ...just target income to be made within their local economy on smuggling into Nigeria. It is possible Nigerian business men bribed officials in those countries or the Thai government is doing it.

The FG has trained and given heavy loans to anchor borrower farmers who are doing well in rice production. If imported rice is smuggled in through the borders, the farmers will lose the market and default on the loans. It will affect the Nigerian economy. So the FG has to fight it. I think even at the threat of destroying the two economies, Benin and Cameroon, Nigeria has to stop the rice smuggling. Currently there is more rice in Benin Republic than the population of people they are waiting for smuggling routes to open

lol, so if I don't support APC's shoddy government I'm not only a PDP supporter I'm also dumb?

You could have passed your message across without being a condescending buffoon but that'd be too much for you apparently.

P.S: I don't support PDP or APC, i support GOOD GOVERNANCE , I may be dumb but I'm not dumb enough to play party politics.
