The occupation an estate management professional can nominate on the list is a skill level 1 occupation. It means, you must have a bachelor degree to get a positive assessment.

For you, except you have proven record of tasks or jobs you have carried out in your company as an architectural draftsperson, that is when you can get a positive assessment.

Alternatively, you can assess as a customer service manager with your banking experience. You may get in touch with Koleefem05 to guide you on formatting your reference letter for Vetasses, if you are taking this option.

Thanks bellong,

Architectural drawings and pictures of job done should suffice as a draftperson.
But, i intend to get the maximum point for work experience, hence,my choice of banking experience of almost 11yrs.
positive outcome is the goal as this assessment seems pricey.

- what is the point awarded for hnd qualificafion?

Dear koleefem05,
Please help a brother out.

What is your wife's qualification and occupation?

Thanks for your response.
Wifey has HND-estate management
My MBA is awaiting senate approval since forever.
She's got 30 points for age
While mine is 25points.
But she s into fashion designing.

Most tunnels now have light inside them. No need to wait for the end anymore... cheesy

Dear bellong and other gurus,

I have HND in architecture in 2006 and have being working in a bank since 2007 in operation dept.
There is no related occupation in the list for working in a bank as FT, but there is for architect in MLSSL and architectural draftperson and technician in STSOL.

However, i have a registered company since 2009. If i want to claim self employed, the only documents i have is the company registration documents, i'm not sure if that will suffice.

I need experts advice, opinions and experience.

-For the purpose of assessment, what occupation do i choose
-How can i claim points for my spouse in other to boost mine as the principal applicant.
i did not read about it on DIBP, but on this thread i think i have seen something like that.

Na wa o bros, this your analysis though!

Well, Purpose of visit is exactly what it is 'your purpose of going to Canada and Circumstance(s) surrounding that singular definition and intention'. As you may also know, the refusal letter has other reasons of not satisfying an officer and each will serve the purpose it was ticked(although, IRCC have been ticking anyhow these days)

So to a very large extent, purpose of visit always surrounds intended program, prior event leading to that choice, the advantages of it, how it will highlight convincingly a claim of studying and returning back home, the viability of the propose program as well as the surrounding circumstances to ensure that primary intent of study will be met. More of why you are going to Canada and events that will surround your study in Canada.

Officer's note regarding a refusal on purpose of visit will most likely have lines of " not a genuine student who intend to complete study and depart, proposed program not logical with previous education or employment etc"

So the points you raised will largely fall under 'home ties' 'personal asset' and financial situations. They are provisions to raise concerns in these light.

Like most people have already mentioned, the GCMS note will throw more light to the refusal. My only concern is that some GCMS file i have seen lately have been erroneous and also misleading. I just hope in this case, it highlight the exact reasons for the refusal.

Well said.
But my observation is a pointer to the total packaging of the app.
Also note that, purpose of visit and home tie are interwoven, in the sense that, if i dont have something tangible to come back to in nigeria, that means i may not want to depart, hence, the purpose of visit can stick out...that is the thinking or assumption of the VO, atleast to nigerians.
As you have pointed out, its not just proposed program being in line with previous education and/or employment.
Just my opinion anyways.

about 2 and half years

8 months as an Electrical Engineer

the remaining months as a Network Infrastructure Engineer

The truth is, you did not include home tie to yourself..your years of experience seems too little, no SOA, not married, no Kids, c'mon.no property doc

I am not saying without all these you cannot get visa, but chances are slim. Since you have left the gap for purpose of visit in your first app., you must clear the concern, cause every other VO will check.

The only way you can address the concern with this your profile is if you can convincingly explain to the VO the connection between you and your parents property and investment doc, i.e lettting them know you are the heir,etc..just think through it.

otherwise, let your circumstance change before reapplying

Hello Gurus in the house please help me. My GCMS note has arrived and the VO stated that after careful consideration of the informations I provided he was not satisfied that proposed studies(Process Quality Engineering) in Canada makes sense given insufficient information on how proposed studies would improve my career prospects to a level that would offset the costs of studying in Canada instead of pursuing programs available in country of residence. Application refused

Guys please what do you think. I believe my S.O.P was not strong enough to convince the VO. I want to apply again with a different course(Applied Manufacturing Management) though very much similar to my previous proposed studies only difference is Process Quality Engineering was an 8 month program while the Applied Manufacturing Management is a 2 years PGD program.

The VO's concern is very explicit and straightforward.
Imo, just address the concern and let them know the reason you did not opt for a master degree. Its straightforward but dicey, in the sense that, you have to do series of justifications;
why you chose 8months program and not 2years..and relate it to cost of studying.
Most often than not, pgd/c prospective students dont do this.
I strongly advice you stick to your PQE because the VO mentioned career prospect and cost of study, if you decide to go for a 2year program which will translate to higher cost of studying, how will you erase the concern raised? And based on career prospect, employment situation can arise, this is why i said, its dicey.
In summary, stick to the same course of study, draft a convincing SOP;
explain the reason you cannot go for master degree...to clear purpose of visit,
Explain your choice of 8months program and relate it to cost and the need to get back to your job as quickly as possible,
State the difference the canadian certificate can make when you get back to your work in respect to career prospect...even though you may not want to comeback..
If you can do this, you will be fine.
They are canadians and not nigerians. They work under law and regulations. It is never stated that study permit is for master degree students only.
And of course, you may attach the gcms to your next app to show you address the concern raised.

Goodluck

In my case, I invited my mother who was leaving for the Uk. I sent an email pleading that they process her application with UK visa attached and flight itinerary. They responded and told me I would get a passport request the next day, which I did. So you can try and plead with them. No harm in trying.

Ma'am, kindly rephrase. You mean you sent an email showing them that she has a pending travel to UK, so that they can expedite her canada visa?

Work experience 7years and course was relevant
Travel history: US Canada UK Dubai Saint Lucia Barbados SA and the list goes on.

Well I believe it's a shitty reason and the real reason is cause it's a PGD (i might be wrong oh).

Well I was waiting for the outcome of this before I put in my Express Entry application fortunately for me my CRS score is 465 . So basically God didnt want me to pay international fees shikena.

So right now am on my way to Canada to let my hair down.

Have a great day everyone and more approvals for the hopefuls.

Cheers

Sorry about the delay,
However CRS score of 465 is not beans..what is your IELTS score? Plus which point did the magic,if i may ask.

Okay, to my understanding, I feel the major problem was because u are specializing in human resoucres, it's either your experience do not relate directly to human resources or you didn't explain well in your sOP how you have Hr experience. office administration is different from human resources.

Masters admission would be tight expecially because u finished with less than 3.0

I feel you would still be given a Visa, the Problem should be because u are focusing on HR and you have no background education in it nor work experience as an HR person.

Just my view.

Kind regards

I seconded this view @ derel
HR is different from office administration and its not the same as even being a top management person.
Since you are not qualified for master education in canny, VOs are aware of this and the study permit is not only for master and Phd student, it is never stated, hence, the next pointer falls on your SOP.@ Austinpee can help with that.

Look into the above critically with your gcms handy, you should be fine.
Its not a dead end if you dont qualify for masters.

Regards

Don't forget, most of the people here have gone through the process, been here long, gotten their study permit and even still volunteer here to answer newbies like you as they once were. Its not right that you then treat them poorly. Just my 2 cents.

Hi, i applied same day as you. I couldn't link mine either. It gets so annoying imputing those details all to no avail.

Seriously, you can link your app by filing all the required details. I actually followed what is obtainable here but keep getting red flag of not completing the required details such as city/place of birth, country, etc.

I decided to input all required details and voila...........it went. I did for a visitors visa though. I guess it should be applicable for study permit too.
Give it a try.

Not a bad idea. They can join you as soon as you arrive canada. You will apply for a visiting visa for them and there is also an opportunity of changing their status within canada for schooling purposes once they are of school age or enrolled in a facility.(This is considered a reason to extend stay)

The visa officer never gave room for explanation she just went start to make her decision.

Ma/sir,
In my opinion, you did not do justice to 2 questions you were asked.
US visa interview is more of academical if i can say that, or better still, like a graduate applying for job interview.( irrespective of your status)And this is why, alot of people that seems qualified were not given visa, and we keep asking ourselves ' what did i do wrng?', ' why was i not given?', ' the VO is in a bad mood today'.etc.

If you run through the thread, you will observe one thing in common during interviews....that the VOs have standard questions they ask applicants, irrespective of your status or ties...they know what they want from you before they can further ask you for ties, failure to deliver what they want to hear when answering, you will not move to the next stage of the interview.

Take for instance, you were asked ' what are your travel plans?......
You said ' you wanna gonna.... undecided go on vacation.
For me, i expected you to go into brief details, probably of your itinerary....dnt overdo and sound desperate, but sell yourself.
People tend to talk about confidence and composture, that......it is the key, but this is where the confidence ish come in to play...not by making up once mind that ' its not a do or die affair' and think that is confidence.NO.
And not by looking into the eye of the VO, or by answering str8 B when VO asked you A.

Secondly, you were asked,' what do you do?'
You said, ' you are an operation officer'
Is that what you do? cry
This is why i said US intervuew is more like academical or like job interview....my opinion anyways.

I was surprised you still didnt realise anything wrong wit your convo..
Note all i said and refire...you will spot the difference.
Good luck wink

I am not sure what you're asking. Purpose of travel would be why you're visiting Canada and then Ontario in particular maybe even down to where in ontario you're going. In the online portal however, what you provide as response to this question will be documented evidence of your planned visit. Return air ticket reservation, hotel reservation, itinerary of planned activities and so on. Please pay for nothing until you have a canadian foil in your passport. I hope this helps. Pardon my ignorance, is air ticket reservation a prerequisite to obtain canada visiting visa? Pls clarify.

My simple advise.

With a view not to sound repetitive,

1) No matter the admission offer you have (bsc, diploma, pgc, pgd, msc, phd), ensure you have an airtight application. Heck, I recently read a case where a phd applicant was refused visa even with funding because she failed to specify the funding details in her sop and didnt attach the funding offer(she thought she did). She later re applied and got it. Moral: cross check everything before submission, never assume the VO will request for any missing document that might favour you. The more the merrier.
2) Ensure there is some level of progression with respect to your academic offer. This will save you the stress of trying so much to explain the reason why you are going for your course. We keep saying this, things are changing, VOs are humans still leaving in this world, so they know too.

3)Availability of funds is not a criteria to be given VISA. It is one of rhe requirements. As such let every factor work hand in hand for your good.

4) By all means seek alternatives. There are many roads to a destination.

Do have a lovely day.

This makes sensible sense...instead of one arrogant VO here playing god and being categorical. He should take several seats and keep his data for more pressing issues. Its a public forum, soldier will go,soldier will come undecided

I open this thread in other to be enlightened and for experienced people to throw more light on the possibilities of getting a PR via the PGC route.

Since a larger percentage of nigerians paying huge sums as tuition do so with a mindset of settling in canada after study, whether as Phd,Master or PGC/D.

What are the case specific conditions for a 1yrPGC student after study to get PR? Noting the CEC program requires 2yr of study.
Is the 1yrPGWP renewable? Or how do i still remain legal?
