See photos Detectives attached to the Mon­itoring Unit of the Imo State police command have arrest­ed two General Overseers (GO) for alleged gunrunning. The sus­pects, Clifford Nmenabu, founder, God Covenant of Christ the King Sabbath Missionary and Festus Daniel Igwe of Zion House of Prayer Sabbath Mission­ary were alleged to have procured five AK47 rifles for use during the forthcom­ing general elections.
Speaking on how the suspects were busted, the state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali told Saturday Sun that the command acted on a tip-off which indi­cated that the suspects had acquired some firearms. According to him: “On February 13, 2015, policemen led by the officer in charge of the Monitoring Unit, Superin­tendent of Police, Linus Nwaiwu stormed their churches in Oru East Local Govern­ment Area, arrested and recovered all the guns.”
CP Ali explained that in the course of in­vestigation, it was discovered that the cler­ics were contracted by one Mr K. Nnamdi who they claim is based in London.
“The two clerics were given an advance cash of N300,000 for 10 pieces of AK 47 rifles and to be given a cash balance of N1.2million as soon as they deliver. The suspects were nabbed when they were about to hand over the five AK47 rifles to a group of persons who claim to be repre­senting Biafra in the church premises of Pastor Igwe.”
The police boss also said that his com­mand has declared Nnamdi wanted and would charge the suspects to court at the end of the investigation.
One of the suspects, Pastor Nmenabu, 67, said that apart from his ministry, he is dealing in arms. “I am the General Overse­er of God Covenant of Christ the King Sab­bath Missionary. I have been in the minis­try for over 35 years. I am also into buying and selling of arms and ammunition. I was listening to Radio Biafra London when the broadcaster, who introduced himself as Nnamdi, gave out a number through which he can be reached. I called him and he ex­plained that he is the coordinator of the popular Biafra group.
“I told him who I am and what I can do for the group. He gave me the contract and I decided to ask my fellow priest, Igwe who has contacts. He offered to pay N1.2 mil­lion for 10 AK47 rifles. He gave us N300, 000 as a deposit. We were waiting for the balance when policemen stormed my house and arrested us”, he confessed.The second suspect, High Priest Festus Igwe, 63, said that he is willing to assist the police to track down Nnamdi who is currently on the run. “I am the GO of the Zion House of Prayers Sabbath Mission. I was in the church, when Pastor Nmenabu contacted me that there is a good business on ground. I rushed to his church and gave me the details. Luckily, I still had contact with some arms dealers in Imo state.
He also introduced me to Nnamdi who gave us an advance fee of N300,000.

President Idriss Deby of Chad told the media during a press conference that the Chad military and government has narrowed down the location of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau.
“He was in Dikwa two days ago. He managed to get away but we know where he is.
It’s in his interests to surrender,” President Deby said during the international press conference.
President Deby added that “‎Abubakar Shekau must surrender. We know where he is. If he doesn’t give himself up he will suffer the same fate as his compatriots.”
The Chadian military has been part of a transnational military campaign against the Boko Haram insurgency originating from northeast Nigeria, and has been the target of Boko Haram’s violence in the past.

A man who was caught kissing inside a car in Saudi Arabia will spend 6 months in jail and also receive 240 strokes of the cane.
An Arab expatriate who works in Saudi Arabia will spend the next six months in jail, after he was caught kissing a girl in his car.
But before he goes to jail though, he must receive 240 lashes of the cane for the audacity of kissing in public.
According to Emirate247, operatives of the Royal Kingdom’s Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, arrested the man after catching him kissing the girl inside his car on the seaside in the eastern port of Dammam.
Aside the punishment, the police also recommended the deportation of the man to avert his evil doings in the future, but the court did not order his deportation.

A teenage girl was burnt to death today in Bauchi after she was suspected to be a member of Boko Haram and a possible suicide bomber.
According to reports, the young lady had refused security men stationed at the entrance of the Muda Lawal market in Bauchi state to screen her with metal detectors. This raised suspicion among the market men and women who then forcefully raised the Hijab she was wearing and discovered two bottles tied around her waist. The market men and women immediately descended on her, beat her to death and then burnt her remains.
Confirming the incident, the state police spokesperson, Hatuna Mohammed in a statement said the sad incident happened at about 7am and that she'd been killed before police could come to her rescue

Nigerian genius, Saheela Ibraheem, 19, made history On Thursday, February, 26, when she was honoured with an official reception in the White House by the US President, Barack Obama and the First Lady, Michelle.
Saheela Ibraheem got into the Ivy League Harvard at the age of 15, where she is currently studying neurobiology — a branch of science that studies the brain — and has been listed among the “World’s 50 Smartest Teenagers.”
She was also accepted for admission by 13 other top colleges in the United States, including the MIT, Princeton, Columbia, and six Ivy League institutions, choosing Harvard, she became one of the youngest students to ever attend the university.
She will be graduating in May this year.
Speaking after an introductory speech by Ibraheem at the White House, President Obama stated that “there are a lot of teenagers in the world. Saheela is like one of the 50 smartest ones. That’s pretty smart.
And she’s a wonderful young lady. She’s like the State Department and the National Institute of Health all rolled into one. And we are so proud of your accomplishments and all that lies ahead of you. And you reflect our history. Young people like you inspire our future.”
Ibraheem, who skipped two grades in school, said the key to success is figuring out what you love to learn as early as possible, which she did at the young age of five.
“If you are passionate about what you do, and I am passionate about most of these things, especially with math and science, it will work out well,” she told CBS 2s Cindy Hsu.
In addition, Ibraheem speaks four languages that include Arabic, Spanish and Latin.
Her mother, Shakirat Ibraheem, said her daughter has been way ahead of the academic game since kindergarten — never cutting corners and trying to do everything on her own. “She’s like always independent,” she said. “I never get to help with her homework because she’d say ‘it’s my work mommy, not yours.’”
Ibraheem’s recognition and reception was part of the “Black History Month” celebration in the US, which comes up in February.

The Federal Government might have shortlisted four national commissioners to take over from Prof. Attahiru Jega as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
SUNDAY PUNCHreliably learnt that Jega might be asked to hand over to one of the commissioners in INEC and also proceed on a three-month terminal leave.
During a presidential media chat on February 11, President Goodluck Jonathan had reassured Nigerians that he had no plan to remove the INEC chairman from office. The President’s reassurance came at a time when speculation was rife that government had perfected plans to remove Jega. But some stakeholders who spoke after the interview had dismissed the President’s reassurances as needless, adding that the laws of the land do not confer on the president powers to remove the INEC chairman.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the Supervising Minister of Information, Mr. Edem Duke, had also said the President had no plan to sack Jega.
“On the issue of the INEC chairman, I align myself with what the President said that he has no plan to sack the INEC chairman.
“That is not to say that if it is time for the INEC chairman to naturally exit his office, then the natural course of things will not take place.
“It is like saying a civil servant has done 35 years or achieved the age of 60; we now begin to say that he must not retire or he must retire,” Duke had said.
However, the minster drew parallels between Jega’s conditions of service and those of civil servants, reigniting speculation that the Presidency might go ahead with the plan to remove Jega.
Earlier, there had been reports that Prof. Femi Mimiko, brother of the Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, had been pencilled in for the position but investigations by our correspondents showed that the former Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State was no longer in contention.
Sources said the national commissioners that might take over from Jega could come from a list made up of Dr. Mohammed Wali from Sokoto State, Mrs. Amina Zakari from Jigawa State, Colonel Mohammed Kurmi Hammanga (rtd.) from Adamawa State and Dr. Ishmael Igbani from Rivers State.
It was learnt that the person that would take over would act as chairman till June 30 when the tenure of Jega would expire.
The Federal Government, it was learnt, had decided against appointing an ‘outsider’ because preparations for the elections had reached an advanced stage.
Investigations further showed that the FG had yet to decide on whether to appoint the acting chairman from the North-West, where Jega hails from or to take the post to another zone.
It was learnt that Wali and Zakari were shortlisted because they hailed from the North-West.
Igbani and Hammanga were included on the list because of the argument among some top government officials that the INEC chairmanship should not be subjected to the principle of zoning.

Rivers State Governor and the current Director General of the All
Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, Rotimi
Amaechi, has said that the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, authorized
the killing of a policeman in Okrika Rivers State.
He revealed this during his visit to Politics Today on Channels TV,
hosted by Seun Okin.

He said:"Fani-Kayode does not have credibility. Did you hear of all

meeting in which all Nigerians in the meeting said 'don't postpone the
election', and he still did it. Who has more capacity to rig election,
the PDP or the APC? If the right person speaks, then we will respond.
Fani-Kayode lacks the credibility. Let's move to another issues."
He then talked about the security council meeting, where they agreed
on no postponement of the election.
He said: "How can we (APC) be happy when Nigerians said they don't
want the elections to be postponed and you go back on your word and
postpone it. I hope by March 28th they would have been able to
decimate Boko Haram, because if they are not succesful, I hope they
don't postpone again, cause they might ask us to allow them do further
fighting.
"But for us as Nigerians and the opposition party, we believe the
decision was wrong because 80 % of Nigerians at that meeting were
against postponement of the elections and INEC's chairman made an
interesting comment. Jega asked the president: 'If you say that the
2011 elections was credible, Mr president, I am more prepared now than
I was in 2011′".
On the issue of security being the reason for the postponement:
"What security is that? 2 weeks before that the chief of defence staff
said that they are prepared for the election with his military chief.
From then till the day the elections was postponed what happened? Did
Boko Haram become more dangerous, did they kill more people than they
killed in Baga? What has changed?"
On the issue that the elections would have caused loss of lives,
