The Holy Aruosa Church was founded during the period of Portuguese visits and trades with the ancient Benin Empire many centuries ago. That church is more than 500 years old and was established during the reign of Oba Esigie in 1502. The Portuguese in the course of their long interactions with the Binis introduced Catholicism and efforts were made to convert the natives to Christians. But when the Portuguese left, the Binis had over the centuries fused Catholic beliefs and traditional beliefs to form the Holy Aruosa Church under the headship of the Oba. All these happened long before the British came and created Nigeria.

I'm not Igbo, but I assure you that will mark the end of Nigeria because every other tribe is tired of this backward fake country created by Lord Lugard. People are ready to fight to finish. No tribe has monopoly of violence. It won't be like the 1960s civil war when the whole of Nigeria gang up and fought against the Igbos. Such gang up can never happen again.

Nigeria is bigger than europe and in europe they have more than 50 countries. Nigeria is made up of many nations within 1 nation. Each speaking tribe is a nation on it's own. It's high time we break up this country peacefully. Each nation she finds its own way. Yoruba pls stand up don't blindly force a union that cannot work. Yoruba as a nation can grow big on it's own without Nigeria. Let's peacefully break up this country.
The way some of you display your ignorance with confidence in this platform surprises me. How is Nigeria bigger than Europe? Are you educated at all? In terms of both landmass and population, Nigeria is no match to Europe. The total landmass of Nigeria is just a mere 923,768 sq.km (not even up to 1 million square kilometres) while Europe has a whopping landmass of 10,180,000 (10 million square kilometres). Even in terms of population, Nigeria has an estimated 200 million people while Europe on the other hand has population of 741.4 million people. Even in Africa here, countries like Algeria, Sudan, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Congo DR, are by far bigger than Nigeria in landmass. Alaska, which is just one state out of the 50 States which make up USA is bigger than the whole Nigeria. Mr man, always do research before making claims. It will help you.

I'm Urhobo and even though we don't want to be part of Biafra, but I respect the Igbos for their alertness and been outspoken against the evils of the Fulanis. The main people the Fulanis are afraid of today in Nigeria are the Igbos. That is why they have been fighting against the Igbos ruling this country, and had so far achieve that by luring other tribes to hate the Igbos. The Fulanis are aware that the Igbo people know their evil plans and very scared that Igbo presidency will dismantle their political influence over the affairs of the country especially with what happened during Nzeogwu's coup in the 1966. If not for the Igbos that are still in Nigeria, Fulanis may have probably overran every because the other tribes seemed not to be at alert or aware of the manipulative nature of the Fulanis.

See, The Fulanis are not that clever as you think. What is happening in Nigeria is that they (Fulanis) are merely taking advantage of the cowardice of the other tribes. It's only in Nigeria that you see the Fulanis having voice and seemed powerful, all thanks to the stupidity of other Nigerians who willingly chose to tolerate the excesses of these desert barbarians. One think about them is that they are manipulative; they (Fulanis) any where they go, they will first provoke you and immediately they discover that you are weak, or afraid, or careless about their evil plans, that is all! At that time you have unwisely given them ground and they will continue to intimidate you, strangulate you and subject you to their control. That is their stock in trade. But once you realise their evil agenda at the initial stage and violently dealt with them with heavy blows, they will run away and avoid you. Mention any other country where the Fulanis are having says as they do in Nigeria. They (Fulanis) attempted it in the Central Africa Republic and they were so dealt a heavy blow by the natives that they fled and started calling on the UN and AU to protect them. There are Fulanis also in Cameroon, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Mali, Ivory Coast, but they (Fulanis) are not in any way close to corridor of power or have reasonable political say in the governance of those countries because the natives will not allow or tolerate such.

They sponsored the EndSars protest... It failed woefully. They attempted a second one which was resisted by well-meaning Nigerians. Now they are going about extrajudicially evicting people from their home in gross violation of the constitution.. Maiming, looting and dismembering hapless civilians...

But we are watching.. If they think we will side them, then they've got another think coming...

Don't be ignorant. My relatives are from Isele uku, as my cousin married an Isselle uku man. You don't know more about Issele uku than an Idemili man, we have been intermarrying with our Enu-ani brothers since antiquity, and indeed when Issele uku people came to marry my cousin, we all interacted in Igbo and understood each other.

The Deities in Issele-uku are normal Igbo deities. The name itself is an Igbo name. Naming towns with Ukwu/uku and Nta as suffix is a common Igbo pattern of naming towns in addition to the popular "Umu" prefix.
Hence you have Issele-uku, Onicha-uku, Ogwashi-uku in Enuani, while we have Enugwu-ukwu, Afam-uku,Lokpa-ukwu, Akirika-uku,Igbo-ukwu, etc in South East.

The distance from Issele uku to Ogidi my home town is closer than from Issele uku to Sapele or to Bini, so I don't understand what your rambling is all about.

The entire Anioma of course has relationship with Bini as neighbors and not as brothers, just as entire Nsukka has relationship with Igala as neighbors, entire Ndoki has relationship with "Ijaws" in Bonny and Opobo who are their neighbours, entire Aro,Abiriba, Edda, Ohafia have relationship with their minority neighbors in Cross River state.
It so to be expected. That doesn't make Issele uku Bini people as no Issele uku person can communicate with any Bini man.

You are the desperate Edoid man looking for kinship where non exits. The ruling house in Issele uku are the Umueze family. Does it sound Bini to you? Kings in Issele uku are called Eze with Obi as title, does any of that sound Bini to you?
The kingmakers in Issele uku are the Ogbolis who migrated from Nri.

I am yet to understand why you Edoids would want to be brothers with a people you can't communicate with without using pidgin. If I ask you to pronounce NNEKA now, you will pronounce INEKA , yet you want to force relationship with an NNEKA from Issele uku, where is your shame?
Sometimes I marvel at your insecurity! Was it Edo that is claiming Issele-Uku or Issele-Uku themselves are the ones telling the world that they came from ancient Benin Empire? Before his coronation, the new king of Issele-Uku paid homage to the Oba of Benin and spent days in Benin according to traditions to learn rudiments of kingship. Did anyone force the Issele-Uku royal entourage to pay the Oba of Benin homage? Why did the Issele-Uku monarch chose to visit the Oba of Benin palace instead of the Obi of Onitsha palace or Eze Nri palace? Is Onitsha not even closer to Issele-Uku in distance than Benin City? Is that not enough evidence to convince you that Issele-Uku is historically and royally more attached/ closer to Benin than Igbos of the southeast? No matter how you pretend the truth is always plain. My stand is that the Issele-Uku indigenous people and their king know their history and origin as handed down to them by their ancestors. You that is from the southeast that knows nothing about Issele-Uku cannot change or alter their history. Period!

How can Bini that dug trenches all around them to prevent Igboid speaking Ika from invading and dismantling them now come to Issele uku to build outpost to stop Ndiigbo from moving to and from the East and West of the Niger, when ancient Igbo speaking towns exist eight in Edo state. Does it make sense to you?

Ancient Igbo speaking people had always occupied Western and Eastern sides of River Niger before the first Bini man walked the Earth.
This same "Ika" you are trying to hype here have been consistent in telling the whole world that they originated from ancient Benin, and at same time denying being Igbo. Can't you see you are just fooling yourself?

So the romans had a wall round Rome because they were scared of the Macedonians or what. Cities build defenses around themselves. The only foreign force that successfully entered Benin itself was the British....

Go all over anioma land they will tell you tales of how their medicine men were always coming to Benin. You can't compare Benin to Agbor na....the original name for what you call Agbor is Agbon.

The influence of Benin is felt all around her. All around. You see it everywhere. The reason why some people in anioma will say they are not Igbo is because of the Benin factor.
The Igbos across the Niger are deficient in rich history, and vain pride will not allow them to accept the fact that Delta Igbos were once under the imperial rule of ancient Benin Empire. I am Urhobo and the name of my clan is "Agbon". There is historical relationship between my "Urhobo Agbon" and "Ika Agbor". History has it that our ancestor "Agbon" and his household migrated from ancient "Udo" near present day Benin city, settled temporarily around modern day Agbor town where he had his first son whom he named "Okpara" ( meaning first child)", before finally moving to our present location in the heart of Urhobo land. My clan ancestor possibly got the name "Agbon" during his sojourn in Ika land. So I believe you when you said the original name of "Agbor" was "Agbon". As proves of our ancestral interactions, there are so many words, proverbs, customs, traditions my Urhobo "Agbon" and Ika "Agbor" still share in common. For instance, in tribal meetings we Urhobo (Agbon clan) greet "isiagware", Ika (Agbor) also greet "isiagware". Urhobo call God "Osonobruwe", Ika Agbor call God "Osanobuwe". Traditional town hall is called "ogwa" in Urhobo, Ika Agbor also call it "ogwa". Urhobo call town/kindred quarters "ogbe", Ika also call it "ogbe". The list is numerous. Even the ancient name of Agbor "Ominijie" also features in our folklores. Ominijie in Urhobo can literally be translated as "congregation of many communities/ people". Ominijie is an Edoid word.

When the Fulanis conquered and are still ruling over the Hausa people, did they change the language of the Hausas? Are the Hausas not still speaking their language till date?
That is the case with the Binis during pre-colonial era. They (Binis) ruled over many tribes (from Lagos, to Akure, Owo, Ekiti, Itsekiri, Delta Ijaws, Urhobo-Isoko, Afemai, Ishan, Agbor, Delta Igbo, etc) but they didn't make attempt to impose their language on their subjects. The ancient Benin Obas saw it as not so necessary.

Exactly what I thought. Royalty is foreign to Igbo culture. It is a very recent development.
Not the case with Delta Igbo region. Their kingship date back to centuries ago before the arrival of the British due to the influence of the Benin Empire. And many of their royal stools were established by Benin princes sent to rule those lands hundreds of years ago. You can even see the picture of this new Obi of Issele-Uku paying homage to the Oba of Benin before his coronation which is a clear sign of identification with his root.

The problem some of you Igbos have is that of "self-centeredness". You only think of your needs without consideration for the needs of others. Once your needs are not satisfied you begin to shout "injustice". But the same Igbos will never mind to met out "injustices" against others. For instance, during the military regime of General Ironsi (Igbo man) the Ijaws of the Niger Delta region felt marginalized and cheated and decided to secede from Nigeria by declaring a new country known as "Niger Delta Republic" but the same Igbo men (Ironsi) and Lt. Colonel Ojukwu insisted Nigeria is "indivisible" by declaring war on the Niger Delta to stop the secession bids of the Ijaws. General Ironsi sent Ojukwu with "full military force" to crush Adaka Boro and his freedom fighters for daring to ask for their "rights to self determination". Adaka Boro was eventually defeated, captured and even sentenced to death by a kangaroo military tribunal presided over by the same Igbo military officers. Little did they know that there is "law of karma" and that the table will turn and the same fate awaited in that same year (1966). The same Igbo that refused to grant Niger Deltans rights to secede in 1966 became people that were so desperate to secede in that same 1966. What a fate/ life! If not for Gowon who later became military Head of State after overthrowing Ironsi that freed Adaka Boro, he may have been executed by firing squad.
