President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, Saraki, Dogara and National Assembly officers Meet at State House.At least 20 members of the upper and lower chambers were led last night by Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to a first official meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and the leaders of both houses of the federal parliament, since assuming office on May 29, 2015.
The meeting was held the First Lady’s conference room in the Presidential Villa, Abuja with the principal leaders of the Executive and Legislative arms of government in attendance.It was gathered that President Buhari sought the support of NASS leadership for implementation of the 2015 supplementary budget at the meeting.He also used the opportunity to familiarise himself with the lawmakers and also banked on them to confirm the ministerial nominees he sent last Friday.
Present at the meeting were President Muhammadu Buhari,Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio,House Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila and other principal officers of the red and green chambers. Governor Kashim Shettima has nominated the immediate past commissioner, Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Youths Empowerment, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa for the position of Deputy Governor of Borno State.
The nomination follows the death of Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha in the early hours of Saturday,15th of August, 2015 in Yola, capital of Adamawa while he was on official assignment.
Spokesman to the Governor, Malam Isa Gusau confirmed that Shettima has in a letter, dated Monday, October 5, 2015 and addressed to the speaker, Borno State House of Assembly, forwarded the name of Durkwa seeking the approval of the Assembly.

Gusau added that Shettima acted in accordance with the powers conferred on him by Section 191 Sub-Section (3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended).
"I have the honour to convey vide this letter the name of Hon. Usman Mamman Durkwa for confirmation as Deputy Governor of Borno State following the demise of Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha on 15th August, 2015. I wish to reassure the Honourable House of the continuous cooperation of the Executive arm and solicit for confirmation of the nominee, please. Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration" Shettima said in his letter as quoted by his spokesman.
Given the very respectful and cordial working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of Government in Borno State, Governor Shettima looks forward to the Assembly's accelerated consideration and kind approval, Gusau noted.
Shettima once again prayed to Allah to admit the late Deputy Governor, Zannah Umar Mustapha into Aljannah Firdausi, recalling that the late Deputy Governor served Borno State with dedication, patriotism and selflessness that was very uncommon. The Governor reaffirmed his earlier pledge to stand by the family of the late Deputy Governor and also ensure the sustenance of his good legacies.
Governor Shettima called on citizens, particularly youth party supporters to remember the transience of power and not to take advantage of the appointment to tease anyone and incite public disturbances under the guise of celebrations, warning that any act of lawlessness will not be tolerated by security agencies.
Shettima express his profound appreciation to the good people of Borno State, the Federal and other State Governments as well as individuals, groups, associations and corporate organizations for standing by the family of the late Deputy Governor and the current administration since the demise of Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha. He prayed that God rewards all sympathizers abundantly.

In a land mark event today, 80 Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered en mass to troops of OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE in Bama, Borno State.
The terrorists among whom were commanders, suppliers and foot soldiers confirmed to have partook in several terrorists attacks especially on Bama town, Borno State, surrendered as a result of the intense heat and continuous offensive action embarked by troops.
It will be recalled that we have repeatedly stated that surrender is the only option available to insurgents as the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force in conjunction with other security agencies are totally committed to the achievement of the 3 months Presidential deadline for the eradication of terrorism in Nigeria.

Other terrorists are encouraged to also surrender or face total annihilation. As the new name of the operation states 'achievement of total peace is a must'.
Citizens are please requested to continue providing useful information to security agencies that will lead to apprehension of all known terrorists.

Good old days we are always proud of

Troops yesterday afternoon following a tip off by well meaning citizens, discovered and raided yet another Boko Haram fuel dump at Abbaganaram in Maiduguri city, Borno State.
During the operation, one person, Musa Abba, was arrested and the following items were discovered and confiscated; 11 drums of AGO, 1 empty drum, 192 of 25 litres jerrycans, (out of which 70 were loaded with AGO, PMS and DPK), a Toyota bus and 1 Peugeot car. Others include a motorcycle and an air conditioner.
The fuel depot was used to stockpile Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants by Boko Haram terrorists and their equally heartless collaborators for onward movement to the terrorists camps in Sambisa forest.
Over time we have been exhorting the public especially the residence of the north eastern part of the country which has been mostly affected by the acts of the Boko Haram terrorists to cooperate fully with the military and the security agencies.
It is gratifying to note that such call is being heeded to by overwhelming majority of people as exemplified by the courageous and patriotic efforts of the good citizens that exposed this fuel dump in their midst. It is important that people should see the fight against the security menace of Boko Haram terrorism as collective responsibility.
Therefore the public are kindly requested to be more vigilant and assist with useful information that would assist in preventing Boko Haram terrorists from carrying out their nefarious acts against the society.

During the meeting the two discussed the working together of the two Nation in partnership for a strong bilateral relationship and help each can easily render for each other considering the tag of the country as the Giant of Africa.
