Politics / Re: What Is It With Our Mentalities? by Kpac(m): 7:28am On Oct 14, 2012
Major Problem
A bad economy, flocks of corrupt government officials, high exchange rates, the killings and other social and non social vices in Nigeria in our present generation are very solveable, all this could go away if the right people take over. With all this problems,Nigeria is not a failed state BUT with the mentality of the majority as you have sufficiently pointed out, with the way these people talk, reason and act,the hope of this country is fading fast, the mentality of Nigerians is why its becoming a failed state.
These days I prefer to spend my moments in rural areas than urban,I find it better and sane, the rural dwellers still exhibit some great extent of good morals and characters, their roads are becoming better, their environment are even an inspiration in identifying talents and new ideas.
The mentalities, wicked acts and high condemnations of people in the urban areas are beginning to give me migraine and if you want a better prove of how common it is,visit threads on Nairaland and you will but shake your head at what cancer we nurse in our society.

How about GEJ take their next flight,
Sanusi and Ngoozi take the next one after GEJ gets down safely
Tambuwal and Mark fly with the next flight after Sanusi and Ngozi touch down
And
All 36 state governors take the next flight after Tambuwal and Marka alight in one piece.......
Then....Nigerians would then be safe to fly...Our leaders are the most selfish people in this generation....

In an Advanced Country
With the same incident, fire service would have put out the fire when it was still around 5% of its capacity, especially because its a market, insurance companies would have visited the affected traders and evaluation of their losses made immediately where compensation follows closely, the police would have restricted the area with yellow tapes while reconstruction is being planned immediately on site, within few hours, the real cause would be unveiled and the market get back fully in few days without much hullabaloo.
In Nigeria
With this incident, Traders would cry and cry, No insurance in place, Nearest fire service is far and they haven't even resumed by that 10am the fire started, thugs would start their looting, people would start random fights and noise, police are on top of the situation while they have no explanations for the fire even by next month, they tell everyone not to cook again in the market, government goes there promising relief materials and the market would still be under construction for the next 6 months at least.

What a difference

GEJ is not done yet
How much of the pains, sufferings, anguish and harsh policies GEJ's government would bring on Nigerians depends on each and every one....
How much of the reality we want to face is up to us....
3 years more of his rule and we've gone through tough moments this generation can cope with....
Chelsea stopped hoping when they lost games at home consecutively and were dropping deep down the table.
Liverpool stopped hoping when relegation was knocking
In all aspects of life, we don't need to touch the ocean floor before we know when we're drowning, let not faith, honour, faithffulness or loyalty take your reality from you.....Its is not well with Nigeria and its getting worse under this present Government....
Learning from History
At a time,a dollar was exchanged for a Naira, when IBB and his SAP programme started sweeping Naira far behindd dollars, our fathers also failed to act, they hoped, some prayed, many wished and few must have fasted But reality is beyonf them...Now our generation exchanges a dollar for 160 Naira.....
If we do nothing too at this time, a dollar to Naira in a few years might be 1:650....
Its all our choices, God is to heaven as Man is to earth.

Deliberate Division
Why would there be increasing cases of bad journalism in this country, why wount we just learn for heaven's sake, do we take pride is causing caios, hatred and bad motives.
What do you stand to gain, why are u degrading this society and hitting our heads against eachother. Why ?
World bank boss visits any continent for their reasons and must he come to Nigeria ?
Just some few minutes ago, someone posted that south east leaders endorse GEJ ! Is it the south easterners that sent you a communique that those spokespersons speak on their behalf ?
The greater percentage of the active members of this forum find their fulfilments, excitements and competions in posting a noble story and giving it a tribal, political or misguided cap.
You make posts, make it tribal, cause people to insult themselves, some not sparing their parents, the bitter ones curse themselves to their unborn generations, these usually continue for days, new hatreds are born on this forum eachday, bitterness, curse and insults litter all the posts, your post hits 40 pages, its taken to the frontpage, the post had more than 100,000 views.....and so what ? What do u gain ?.....Vanity upon Vanity.
Its such a pity.

The govenor of Ekiti state once said "To change this country, you have to be in power"
I have been having some visiting headache since I got the news of the concluding intentions of CBN....
I have carefully studied these things in my capacity and I smell a conspiracy between GEJ,Ngozi and Sanusi....First,if 5000 notes is released, then its a step to increase fuel price in the nearest future, its another step to make huge withdrawals from the foreign reserve, its also a step to borrow a huge amount from World bank, which most probably have been nearing final approval.....Large currency like 5000 naira makes these operations easy and it would make their transactions cheaper....... And to the common man, price of every goods would increase, traansport fares etc...The price of pure water would firm at around 20 naira, the smallest sized bread would be 100 naira.
Don't forget that, the inroduction of 500 and 1000 naira was what made maggi sold for 2 for 5 naira(from 50k), chewing gum, sweets sold for 5 naira each(from 1 naira) etc just because traders was looking for every means to avoid collecting coins of 50k,1 naira and 2 naira.
All part of the Nigerian trade in a common man market eradicated the need for collecting coins by increasing their goods cost to meet up the nearest Note, which was 5 naira,as a result of these, coins disappeared from circulation.
The same would happen if these 5000 note is allowed by Nigerians....The hardship of Nigerians would increase significantly and no one would be spared.
I call on all Nigerians to halt these move....It is a calculation of gain to the government and its close allies and hardship to the masses which makes up more than 85% of the population.

Politics / Re: 'Jonathan Should Not Resign' - OPC by Kpac(m): 7:20am On Aug 15, 2012
Getting Facts Straight
First and foremost, judging from history, GEJ does not answer calls from the public or any spokes person of any group in this country.....No matter what pages of national dallies is used as advice, threat or call of resignation of him or any member of his cabinet, he would not answer.
So fasheun should count his speech as his own noble contribution to this country, which inspires us that we still have some good sides in our leaders.
GEJ Ethicity Problem
In my opinion,in the history of this country, we haven't being so ethnically divided and so religiously sentimental like we've been since the past year,of course we have always been aware Nigeria is multi ethnical but our ethnicity awareness have grown under GEJ administration rapidly.
Some of the reasons for these, worth metioning is :
1. GEJ mismanaging past political convicts and militants
2. GEJ's kinsmen and his silence to their excesses.
Most of our past leaders did equally embezzle and mismanaged the presidency but they didn't act too unchecked like GEJ.....Obasanjo wouldn't have done some things GEJ did because the Gani fawehinmi, the tinubu, the falana, the Bola Ige, the top tradional rulers and other intelligent old men all from his own tribe would have being the first to nail him on the cross and attack him immensely.....but GEJ's kinsmen are opposite, even if GEJ takes a littre of petrol to 450, the top people, tradional rulers,ex militants and leaders of other groups in bayelsa would salute him faithfully.....These things are major factors that is dividing us in his government.
Resignation
In some areas GEJ is performing or maybe I rephrase by saying, in some areas, GEJ has put people that are performing but in all checks and balances, GEJ and his goverment has seriously under performed, beyond ethnicity or religion, that is the factor Nigerians are crying about and so, as an underperforming president, anybody can make any call for his resignation or impeachment, as long as he/she is a Nigerian.

Politics / Re: Boko Haram Killed By Their Bomb In Kaduna. See Pics. by Kpac(m): 5:13am On Aug 15, 2012
Deceit and Control
While we tend to jubilate the fall of the wicked,my recurring concerns is that the camp of Boko Haram are also jubilating.....and of course for many reasons.
Islamic extremist have this hatred in them that cannot be cured by any number or forms of kindness,in their hearts, their language is REVENGE. Once they get to that bizarre stage of islamism, they have proven to be uncureable.
They spot the wretched, under developed, under civilized and extremely poor communities and capture younger minds into their mission of hate by offering the accepting ones a little bit of better life than their counterparts.
It may be shocking but its true that these young suicide bombers are recruited with as low as 5000 naira per person, guranteed 3 meals a day and given new clothes in exchange for their hearts.
These many youths are camped and trained in a way u can imagine very oppressing....Islam originally has a culture of respect, honour and total commitment to their leaders,so these young guys obey every order to the last letter....They are camped and every form of civilization, which may act as a form of eye opener to these young recruits are cut off completely.
So.... with a news like this, the other potential trained suicide bombers would never be aware of this kind of event, the Boko Haram leaders would have seen the news about the failed mission and go back to the camp saying the opposite.....They would have told those young guys that "Allah Akbah ! The mission is successful and the targets have been wiped out".....and those ones too would have jumped with violent excitements, thereby getting more encouraged into performing their own mission ASAP......
Until these camp is found, the sponsors in goverment discovered, their bomb experts eliminated and standard of living in the north is drastically improved, these bombings would not stop.

Pastor and Politics
Because we've had a pastor so concerned about this country doesn't make him fake. Even in d bible, every of God's prophets were different from eachother and if there's anyone that belives so much in diversity, its God himself.
A pastor is not a robot, as a matter of fact, they are referred to as shepherds.....If nothing bad happens to their sheep,if the grasses are green for their consumption, the water is clean for their cleaning, drugs are available for their treatments, every shepherd would be happy and when he stands and looks at his flock,he would be just so excited and fulfilled.....But when his sheeps are struggling and suffering, thou he maintains calm amongst them,he is ready to fight anything for the sake of his sheeps......
Every sunday morning, pastors are faced with so much difficulties their members are facing, some lost their lives due to bad roads, some are lying sick for months at the hospital due to poor health infrastructures, some had their shops demolished due to strict goverment measures, some had dropped out from school because the school fees have been increased by 150%,some have just lost their jobs, some are in critical condition just because they unsuspectedly took fake drugs obtained in a chemist, some are jobless for months, running into years, despite having a bachelor's degree, some came announing their intention to return back to the village because the house rent has toppled and some of the members have their life savings forced out of them as fines paid because they were caught passing one way,in a bid to avoid making his only car break down in an unpassable water logged very deep pit on his own normal lane..........
If you are a good shepherd and your sheep suffers any of these and still hears the president of your country spends about 40 Million naira daily on food, newspapers, diesel and drinks,I wonder how you would still be able to look into your sheep faces, open your bible and again preach to them hope, when its glaring the hardships are due to poor governance.
Even from the old testaments,God has always being actively involved in politics.
If your own pastor doesn't talk about politics at all and anotherr do,please do not criticize, they have their difference in their calling,in their nature and in their life phylosophies.

Passion and Pain.....
For the true compatriots of this country, what tunde bakare has said would makes so much sense and to the others, laugh it off.
There are still some Nigerians who love this country with everything in them.....Tunde bakare,I salute you.
Between 7pm and 7am this morning, like every other day, thousands of my brothers, sistes, uncles and aunties are robbed, raped, killed, beaten, kidnapped and other taken for rituals....No protection from their president,no passion either from the first lady....
The number of prostitutes we have this year is almost twice of last year, yet they still struggle to make ends meet......Yet the first lady doesn't concern herself with their existence.
By God's grace, the Jeroboam and his cabinets would soon become history of painful memories.

To change Nigeria to be among the best :
> We need the help of the Press to be sincere and never bow to be intimidated.
> We need the help of the Newspaper editors, to value informations like this above any other information,to discard the monetary values and exault informations that would heap pepper on corrupt officials
> We need help of TV stations to broadcast the truth and never allow politics be a factor in their business
> Above all, We need Nigerian youth to join forces in one voice, avoid supremacy, hollier than thou attitude, speak in one voice and not allow politicians use their games to divide us in tribes, parties etc.

We know this things and yet it goes into thin air, do you want to know why ? The reason is because we are our own enemies as Nigerian youth, if someone who has small money to pay for publications to expose corruption, has passion for this country, has other resources needed for us to mobilize and be heard, comes out to condemn these greedy politicians, instead of Nigerian youth joining in one voice, most of us would say they are fighting for their own interest.

We need change, Nigerians.

The system would be sanitized, though there are no guarantees Military government would be without its early flaws, but a dedicated, disciplined Military man who loves his people with all entirety is what we need now.

At least, there wount be reckless one way drivers, corrupt contractors that take it as an act to keep collecting our contracts and abandoning them would be dealth with in a military way, people like Bankole,Diezani,Gbenga daniel and faruk would have been in maximum prison dying off slowly, fake drug dealers would be caught and sent outa life......Not this loop holed democrazy where a fake drug dealer whose drugs has rendered some motherless is charged to court and granted bail of 50,000 and two sureties in like sum. Just Imagine !

I am living in the now and if a child cries for a plate of rice, it doesn't mean he wants it because his father sells rice.

At the stage our country is, there is no reliable democratic way to better life, you may need to know the cartels we're dealing with, to understand that there's no short cut to wiping out all these sufficiently rooted corrupt people at ALL LEVELS of the process we call democracy.
Politics / Re: Mark My Words - Military Goverment Would Take Over . by Kpac(m): 11:32am On Jul 20, 2012
I am much traveled in Nigeria and honestly people are suffering, living all their lives with a meager income with ZERO infrastructures.

I am not interested in what tribe the messiah comes from, all i want is smiles on the faces of these people living in remote Nigeria.

I want the best person to pivot my beloved country, we need a mandela at this time and if that would be achieved, the basis for ruling should not be tied to ANY rotation, the cabinet members should be chosen on intelligence and commitments, not political experience or international educational background.

That the roads in all parts on Nigeria are as smooth as Airport road, that our currency is very strong, that the mortality rate reduces seriously, that school children dont die again when crossing the road due to unavailable pedestrian bridges, that proper economical structures are put in place, that fake goods and drugs becomes history, that every product in Nigeria is made with one of the best global qualities, that for 365 days every Nigerian has uninterrupted Power supply and that all foods, goods and services becomes very cheap...............Even if the whole government in Nigeria are from one local government doesn't interest me.

Politics / Mark My Words - Military Goverment Would Take Over . by Kpac(m): 10:27am On Jul 13, 2012
I write this piece with a heart of a fallen soldier, a defeated commandant and a disgraced warrior. My utmost wish is that every word i stamp on paper herein is seen by that man that would take away all this national agonies.
Hate, strife, pains, anguish, suffering, tormenting poverty and their closest cousins have now settled amongst my compatriots. Politics have turned deadly, Public offices have turned expedient and its about that right time that these present government and its structures are completely wiped out.

Economy
Just some few years ago, 100 Naira would buy me a satisfactory meal of bread and beans,at this present time, we get that same meal for 160 Naira, School fees at every level are at a record high, Transport fares could make you quickly go broke in just few days after your pay day and to the Car owners, motor parts are soaring high and the qualities reducing, depreciation rate of cars are now double, the roads are worse, at the few times we have public water, the dirty smelly water runs with regulated low frequency, The network is so poor and yet we pay more, Pure water is double what it was when they read their campaign speeches, What a decent house rent costs has made most youths stick to their parents abode, when they paid for those sweet harmonized campaign songs on TV and radio, Milo was 350 now its 650 and the constant thing now is the increase in all these needed commodities, you wouldn't want to fall sick now because Hospital bills are three times what it was when they were busy having campaign debates. As at when i was in the barbers shop watching their rallies few years ago, i paid 100 naira for a clean cut, now i pay double.....I wonder what part of this economy did they say is growing.
Businesses are dieing, job security has reduced, salaries are insufficient and setting up just a one space office now is as expensive as renting a 3 bedroom flat then, yet they would come out with calculated figures as proof of their own growing Aso Rock Economy.

Security
It is careless of any chess player to lose his/her knight or hooks to pawns of the opposing player. The rate at which we lose intelligent, talented and promising fellow brothers and sisters to reckless governance increases at no counter check. Prominent Nigerians, people like CD John, MC Loph, NYSC Members, Senators, Governorship aspirants, Professors and other promising young men have all lost their lives to the recklessness and insensitive government we have now.
In a state my president has refused to visit despite his superior security detail, he watches as young Nigerians are posted to those volatile states in a service made compulsory for them, should any of them loose their lives, they would open those 32 Teethed mouth and say the condemn attacks on NYSC members and finally my president would recycle his "Commiserate" and "Sympathize" messages.
Disasters now happens at every angle, at any time and when we lose fellow brothers and sisters to those mishaps, they would come again and feed us with promises, they would set up world most costly committees, who would also collect world's most costly bribes and finally they would produce the world's cheapest results.

GEJ
Wish me Goodluck but not Goodluck Jonathan. This man is not a bad man but he has too many bad principles, he make too many costly mistakes and effect too many wrong decisions. He has broken too many protocols and as the first man of this country, others are forced to play along.
A man so quick to use his executive fiat against the masses but never would he against the whole of his corrupt, incapable executives and legislators. He declared a zero tolerance for corruption and at the same time said he has no hand nor would he interfere in the corruption cases rocking the National house of assembly. He is not intelligent as a leader at all, he is slow to act because it take so long for him to understand, he is so accommodating that even the most corrupt politicians are safer with him than in the moon.
His speeches are like pronunciation exercises and he spends and approves excessively lavish spending. When its obvious a section of his government is not performing and they are investigated, they confuse him with carefully baked grammatical reports that sends him into stupor.
He is not just good as my president and he has to be forcefully led out of his Aso Rock refuge.

Political Parties
Interestingly, as it is presently, neither PDP nor ACN nor CPC nor any other existing political party would take Nigeria to that promise land and desired state.
There might be some significant difference in their leaders and way of governance but the truth is they are all going to do the same thing, political apparatus in Nigeria is just too large to be independent, too complex, too padi padi and too trickish to take firm and strict decisions to make the masses standard of living better.
There are too many people attached to these parties that it wont take much time before they start misbehaving, wasting public funds on extravagance and unnecessary appointments.
Hence, i think if truly Nigeria would be a great place, none of these existing Political party should be kept, new generation political parties should be created and new rules of engagements should be laid down prior to their creation.

1999 Constitution
There are just so many and even too many loopholes in that thing called our constitution. If we are just that sincere about moving forward, most intelligent, disciplined minds should be consulted to create a new constitution for this country. The 1999 Constitution and its secretly dubious amendments should be taken out and added to GEJ's farewell gifts.

What we need now
In my personal opinion, in my sincere opinion, in my most firm opinion, without mincing words and being frank on this country on what it has become, i recommend that the Military take over governance ASAP.
I know this option is not desirable but it is the last option to salvage and wipe out all these corrupt officer that have gotten into every section of the economy, they exist in every political party, in every state and they have their mercenaries in every local government. You cant escape them with this thing we're running called democracy. Our democracy was not properly planned, it was rushed into and we have really suffered for it.
The best facilities, best infrastructures, best exchange rates, best economy, best environmental standard, best societal value we ever had as a country was in the Military governments and it is just the right and only way to take now.
Third Mainland Bridge was not created in democracy and in fact wouldn't have been created in our kind of democracy.
A Military man, strict, firm, with a good heart, a natural undying love for this country, a very intelligent leader, nearly perfect and who unnderstands his people is what we need now and if any military man reads this piece, please broadcast my desire and let the coup d'etat happen in the shortest possible time.

Innovations is the way....
To the young Nigerians who have not been tribalized, brain washed by their religious leaders and who still has passion and believe in themselves, please bring on the innovations for the next decade....start now.
To Mark, you are doing well and you should not stop and yet invest in new things for continuity.I am so proud of you.
And to the majority of Nigerians on this website whose brain has no other contribution than reply to every unreliable,un-innovative,shallow posts...what do you have to say,at least Mark is not a yoruba, nor is he an Igbo Man,he is not from ACN,neither is he from PDP...I wonder what you guys would say...Mark is just so lucky he is not from Nigeria, his major critics, major enemies, major antagonist would have been from here and with news like this, they would have started raining him curses and say he is wasting 1 Billion Dollars on a useless thing when people from his village are dieing of hunger.
Mark....well done.

Religion / Re: Dear Lord, Answer This Prayer. by Kpac(m): 10:07pm On Mar 06, 2012
Father Lord,

I look forward unto you, you told Abraham to leave his father's colony to a place you will show him, father, i am waiting with all attention to a place you would show me, a country where i can pitch my tent, a country where true love exists on their streets, not the love here in Nigeria than only exists within the estates the corrupt politicians build for themselves.

Lord, please do not listen to the responses of the pharisees here, i however pray you give them their desired strength and courage to wait at home and build this country in its most hostile, corrupt, wicked environment. Since 1986, every year in Nigeria is better than the previous.

Father, i want to tell my children and their generations some sweet fairy tales like my grandparents told me of their days, i desire to be listed in Wikipedia of my achievements, life story etc in my environment, therefore i pray thee to take me out of this country and rescue me from the cancerous faith of Nigeria would be better, which our parents have been saying since 1986. While other countries constructs and implement beautiful road networks, fast electric trains, high-tech laboratories, improved fabrics, superb health care system etc, my country still constructs the usual slim 2 way poorly baked lane road with the cultural roundabouts that causes the major of the hold ups, no trains but we have few coaches, no good labs except for the ones for pregnancy tests, no locally driven technology for fabrics and hundreds die everyday due to poor health care systems.

My God, please update my prayers with this few points while i await in faith, the answers to my prayers.

Yes You are right ! There are the good ones and when i meet such i get extremely happy as if i saw a fellow countryman in a foreign country.

My concern is that the values of the society is seriously breaking down and most of the youths nowadays have misplaced purpose in life, then what bright future lies for this country ?
Religion / Dear Lord, Answer This Prayer. by Kpac(m): 12:50pm On Mar 03, 2012
Father Lord,

First, you have thought me to start my conversation with you with thanks, hence i say "Thank You" for the gift of life and all that's in it. Thank you for myself, my family, my street, my state of residence,my state of origin, my country and all encompasse.

Father, i read in one of them verses in the bible, that you knew me even before i was conceived, So, i should have all reasons to believe everything that happens to me, are all what you know. Father, i have concerns, great concerns, haven talked to you in my room, in my car, in the church etc, i have chosen to talk to you via the internet that you may receive this prayer closer to you in heaven via the satellites.

Dear Lord,i am getting seriously tired of Nigeria, Seriously and Seriously getting sick of the country and the greatest percentage of its people, father, i would never use the word regret cos i love this Country and i could have been made to believe a person of my type, rare type, was born into this country to make changes, to bring positives and progress to my people, But father, i am not getting any motivated in shaking my head in despair, reading bad news every hour and witnessing the large extent of intolerance, illiteracy and wickedness amongst these people.

Father, my hope is rapidly shrinking each passing day, Nigeria is cursed is all i can conclude now, a country with the most corrupt, most wicked, most unrepentant, most deceiving, most - all bad things politicians and leaders. Most doctors violating other people's wife, Most Labor leaders are traitors, Most Governors are Wicked hearted cult members, Most Teachers are professional cheats, Most drivers are addicted adulterers, Most Lecturers are comfortable sadist and hateful, Most Journalists are deliberate liars, Most Media owners are promoters of discord and iniquities, they bring bad programmes to out TV, they frustrate the honest film makers who have intelligent, educative programmes, Most Graduates are write off in knowledge, exposure and deep thinking, a country where they sell Sharp Cutlasses, Axes and other murder-able weapons in Hold ups, a country where the people run around happily celebrating a borehole donated by a politician, a country of no central database, no security whatsoever, a country where your own worship places have been deeply defiled.

A country where 70% of its youth are all carriers of hate and wickedness, they have lost almost all senses of morals, no respect at all for those who should be honored, a country where they praise a celebrity that lives a reckless live and not recognize the ones that are just among them. The bad celebrities make up the lists of their role models. 9,999 out of 10,000 Nigerian youth dont know what integrity means, they dont understand the meaning of living a just and simple life, they cant sit down and engage in deep thoughts, Father, these youths are no hope for any bright future.

Here on Nairaland, i have become a spectator, i read the topics and avoid the responses, the majority of users here has made this wonderful website a shadow of what it was when we joined it many years ago, the youths here gain and lose respect for anybody at anytime. They react to false news from unreliable sources as if what we have in their brains is sawdust.

Father, i assume you know Nigeria also even before it was made, hence you know that things are totally upside down. The rate at which corruption occurs in the judiciary system everyday can send an average American lawyer into coma and when they decide to do one good out of a possible 50, my countrymen and women celebrate and dance as if Nigeria is not ours at all. Sir, the wiser ones amongst us dare not correct any folly if we dont want to witness our wisdom laughed upon.

Dear Lord, please see my excuses as genuine cos they are and take me away from here to a more civilized environment, USA, Malaysia, Japan, UK, Kenya etc where i can meet people of likewise capacity, an environment where love exist in its true state, where i can show love and be happy, where knowledge and understanding is deeper and so common.

Father, take me out of Nigeria. I seek a better place to enjoy living and appreciate the living all the days of my remaining life.

I would not expect much responses on this topic because it is of no interest to the users here, if it were to be a topic of violation, embezzlement, Location of Hotels or even for ethnic warfare, then this topic would surely receive response up to 25 pages.

Thank you lord and may my faith of answered prayers make me whole.
