Good morning Obnelly,

The image represents the placement of Nilesat 101, 102 and 201 satellites @ 7.0°W. as per http://www.n2yo.com/?s=36830 updates.
We will still receive the Nilesat satellites even after Nilesat 201 replaces Nilesat 101 in the comings days.

@ george,
i quite beleive the price buben tagged to the strong HD decoders, that was the reason adewest was quite skeptical about the 9k price. I saw on a forum that someone bought that strond decoder close to $220, so when i saw that ridiculous price of 9k i was suprised.
what do you think one should do now?

@ ola/badaru.
what help can u proffer in getting a HD deoder?
your response is needed ASAP

Good afternoon all.

I got my strong srt 4910 HD receiver at 207$. i used a cargo clearing agent to get the receiver for me in Dubai. As Nigeria does a lot of imports from Dubai, you can get them to buy the receiver for you and import it.
Bellow is a reply email from the strong agent based Dubai as request for Strong SRT 4910 HD.

Dear Mr. Kangethe,

Thank you so much for your interest in Strong Technologies products. The SRT 4910 which you have referred to in your inquiry sent to us earlier is available in Dubai for AED 760 ($207 USD).

Let me know when you are travelling to Dubai so I can reserve a unit for you.

Hi my etv on my tv went scrambled.can u guys help me out, i tried the 6969 but did not work
e.tv temporarily unavailable on Vivid platform

Sentech can confirm that e.tv is temporarily unavailable on the bouquet of channels offered on the company’s Vivid Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite service. Technical improvements are being made to improve the security of the service.

The Vivid service is available in Sub-Saharan Africa for viewers who purchase the Vivid decoders.

Vivid viewers in South Africa receive e.tv on a free-access basis as part of Sentech’s Vivid bouquet. However, the Vivid platform is carried by satellite and the broadcast footprint therefore extends into Sub-Saharan Africa.

Historically, the encryption software used in the Vivid decoder, protected the geographic integrity of the e.tv offering service outside of South Africa’s borders. Sentech have now learnt that this encryption software has been compromised and needs to secure the feed.

iwes:

@Kungu

Thanks for the info. Please can you give me the list of channels (Dvb s2) , their frequency, and symbol rating on Intelsat 902 C -band. I checked Tracksat ,flysat and Lyngsat, but this information is not there

Good morning Iwes,

The channels under Dvb-S2 on intelsat 902 c a band are,

SABC 2
SABC 3
SABC ENTERTAINMENT

ETV CLASSIC Plus another 9 channels being offered by Dstv which will be under Nagravison Encryptions.

Also on Intelsat 802 Ku band we have Angolan channels also awaitng the Launch of their DTT platform.

PTPA
RTPI
RECORD TV
PROMO CH
COMMERCIAL CHANNEL
BAND INTERNATIONAL
QTV
TV ZIMBO
WOOHOO
BAND NEWS
TV BRAZIL
DISCOVERY
DISCOVERY

MGM.

So when you go for a Mpeg 4 Receiver go for a receiver which also has DVB_S2 or you will have to upgrade your receiver again in the near future.
Daarsat is getting most of their channels from Telstar 10 c band frequency 3840
H 27500 RRsat http://www.lyngsat.com/t10.html and also thaicom 2/5 c band frequency 3450 H 13333 http://www.lyngsat.com/thai78.html
The Strong Srt 4910 HD is patchable and you can get all updates from either
http://www.crosat.org/upload/index.php?&direction=0&order=mod&directory=Strong%20Receivers/Strong%20WIZKID%20Files/Strong%204%20Middle%20East
orhttp://www.crosat.org/upload/index.php?&direction=0&order=mod&directory=Strong%20Receivers/Strong%20WIZKID%20Files/Strong%204%20Africa

So for all looking for a mpeg for make sure the hardware is also Dvb-S2. The system allows transmission of one or more MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 audio–video streams, using QPSK or 8PSK or 16/32APSK (amplitude and phase shift keying) modulation with concatenated encoding.

Have a very blessed weekend

Good morning Blackstars,

Am kungu from Kenya and i have a strong Srt 4910 HD receiver. The receiver is patchable and also comes with blind scan and is Dvb-s2 ready for the migration of satellites channels from the Dvb-s technology.
I got the receiver in Dubai for 207 $
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by Kungu(m): 2:06pm On Jul 22, 2009
Good afternoon all.

Hi my Name is Kungu from Kenya and would like to share my exprience on Mpeg 4 Receivers.
At the moment i have Echolink EL 7020 HD, Humax hdci2000, Dreambox 800 HD and strong Str4910 HD
For Mpeg 4 reception the best receiver is  Strong Srt 4910 HD receiver which comes with Blind scan Plus a sensitive turner card for fringe satellite receptions like Nilesat. IT is also patchable and comes with extra goodies
The price goes for about 207$ in Dubai.
One thing to note with satellites channels that most of the are moving from Dvb-s technology [DVB-S is the original Digital Video Broadcasting forward error coding and modulation standard for satellite television and dates from 1994, in its first release, while development lasted from 1993, to 1997. The first application was commercially available in France via Canal+, enabling digitally broadcast, satellite-delivered television to the public. } To Dvb s2 technology { Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite - Second Generation (DVB-S2) is an enhanced specification to replace the DVB-S standard, developed in 2003 and ratified by ETSI (EN 302307) in March 2005. The development of DVB-S2 coincided with the introduction of HDTV and H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) video codecs.
The system allows transmission of one or more MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 audio–video streams, using QPSK or 8PSK or 16/32APSK (amplitude and phase shift keying) modulation with concatenated encoding,  }
So when looking for a mpeg 4 receiver make sure it is also Dvb-s2 or you will be missing a lot of new  channels which are on trial at the Moment eg on Intelsat 902 C band the are 18 Channels from South Africa under Dvb s2 and 2 from Kenya

Have a blessed afternoon

good afternoon all,

Hi my name is Kungu and i reside in Kenya and i am very inspired by the Nairaland forum.
I have a strong 4910 Hd receiver and would like to share my findings in your forum

For mpeg 4 i would advice you to go for Strong Srt 4910 Hd which comes with blind scan and a super sensitive tuner for fringe reception Plus lots of goodies.
You would be astonished that the are many channels moving to Mpeg 4 and Dvb s2 {Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite - Second Generation (DVB-S2) is an enhanced specification to replace the DVB-S standard, developed in 2003 and ratified by ETSI (EN 302307) in March 2005. The development of DVB-S2 coincided with the introduction of HDTV and H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) video codecs.
The system allows transmission of one or more MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 audio–video streams, using QPSK or 8PSK or 16/32APSK (amplitude and phase shift keying) modulation with concatenated encoding.
DVB-S2 is based on the DVB-S standard which is used for satellite broadcasting, and the DVB-DSNG standard, which is used by mobile units for sending external footage back to television stations. Two new key features which were added to DVB-S are:
VCM (Variable Coding and Modulation) which optimizes the transmission parameters for various users
Changing encoding parameters in real time (ACM, Adaptive Coding and Modulation)
The authors claim that the DVB-S2 performance gain over DVB-S is around 30%.
When the contribution of improvements in video compression is added, an (MPEG-4 AVC) HDTV service can now be delivered in the same capacity that supported an early DVB-S-MPEG-2 SDTV service only a decade before.

On intelsat 902 c band we have 2 kenya channels on Dvb s2 and another 17 channels from south africa under testing till end of July 2009
Frequency 3816 H { L }4213 which has 2 channels NTV and EATN [ kenyan channels }

Frequency 4026 H 9034
SABC 1
SABC 2
SABC 3
SABC ENTERTAINMENT
SABC SPORTS
SABC INTERNATIONAL
SABC EDUCATION
ETV
ETV CLASSIC

The strong Str 4910 http://www.strong-technologies.com/frmProdDetails.aspx?id=203 is sold at around 207$ in Dubai by The strong receiver agents.
The receiver is also a Digital Terrestrial receiver for DTT.   The Digital Terrestrial Television (DTTV or DTT) is an implementation of digital technology to provide a greater number of channels and/or better quality of picture and sound using aerial broadcasts to a conventional antenna (or aerial) instead of a satellite dish or cable connection.

The strong Srt 4900 receiver is equally a good Mpeg 4 receiver and i think the price would be around 150$. The only difference is it has no terrestrial tuner card in it.
The receivers are patchable and i get most of my software from eitherhttp://www.crosat.org/upload/index.php?&direction=0&order=mod&directory=Strong%20Receivers/Strong%20WIZKID%20Files/Strong%204%20Middle%20East
or
http://www.crosat.org/upload/index.php?&direction=0&order=mod&directory=Strong%20Receivers/Strong%20WIZKID%20Files/Strong%204%20Africa

With blind scan i belive you will be amazed by the DVB s2 channels in your air space.

BE blest all and continue inspiring all of us
