All that the previous govt and his ministers knew from oil sector to power sector etc were:
Forces
Cabal
Saboteurs
Enemies
Vandals
etc

Someone should tell Nebo that all those vices had gone with the past govt.

Suddenly most people now have power/light. Has the saboteurs, vandals, forces etc repented over night?

The electricity company who failed to pay for backlog of gas deliveries and still expect receipt of delivery without pay, is the saboteur not the other way round.

Everything has bn wrong with d amnesty programme. So sad that even our own gej let it roll d way it did.
Like seriously, all d agitation could fetch the region was mere training abroad, megad contract to secure pipelines taking oil away from the region?
How shallow!
The environment suffered, oil spills and degradation continued non stop, UN report remained unimplemented, yet our people partied on with stipends from kuku led amnesty arrangement.
Now the terminal date draws near and some ppl are beginning to seek opportunities to cry out with d peoples demands for their selfish interest again, d chance has bn lost.
The sad and expected outcome of amnesty programme is a bitter lesson on sacrificing popular-people based agitations for selfish interest.

This is the problem. What exactly did you do to address it since you had issues with the allocations? As usual, nothing.
It was your decision not to probe your predecessors, so it is entirely up to GMB to determine the extent of his probe.

Politics / Re: Subsidy 101: Q &A On Subsidy. by Kx: 3:40pm On May 27, 2015
ttmacoy:
The truth is bitter. People keep saying they want change yet are not ready for the sacrifices and pain that change brings.
You are right we cannot afford the subsidy. We like to abuse countries like the UK that they pay too much tax but that tax is crucial for the government to be able to provide the services to citizens.
No pain no gain.

Chinese Subsidies:

How did China move so swiftly in capital-intensive industries without labor-cost or scale advantage from bit player to the largest manufacturer and exporter in the world? This book argues that subsidies contributed significantly to China’s success. Industrial subsidies in key Chinese manufacturing industries may exceed thirty percent of industrial output. Economic theories have mostly portrayed subsidies as distortive, inefficiently reallocating resources according to non-market criteria. However, China’s state-capitalist regime uses subsidies to promote the governments’ and the Communist Party of China’s interests. Rather than aberrations, subsidies help Chinese businesses and governments produce, stabilize and create common understandings of markets; the flows of capital reflect struggles between critical Chinese actors including central and provincial governments.
I wonder why subsidies are problems only in Nigeria but are serious economic tools in China to stimulate economic activities and resource allocation.

The approach is reasonable to say the least.

Did oyibo not colonize us with religion on one hand while a part of them did their thing with guns?
Even if we argue that the part that used religion was different frm the set that used arms and ammunination, did they openly disagree? Was their ultimate goal different?

Even to date, d slave mentality still exists even in churches, otherwise, how do one explain the fact that offerings are collected in remote Afikpo catholic and Anglican churches are submitted in far away Rome and Canterbury respestively?

Religion and propaganda has become the two most lethal and sure banker weapons of war and emancipation.

I know 3 marketers but there are more. The ones I know are Oanda owned by Wale Tunubu, Capital Oil owned by Ifeanyi Ubah and Con Oil by Femi Otedola

Can you see how close the govt of the soon to be ex- president is with him even with Farougate scandal?
One word- intertwined.
They are too close yet he cannot call them to order. Why, serious vested interest.

Otedolar- Owner of Zenon- always in close contact with d seat of power
Ifeanyi Uba- Capital Oil- major financier and coordinator of TAN.

Can we now see that the issue was not subsidy but instead govt's inability to curb corruption in the operation of the scheme because of deep roosted closeness with the marketers and perhaps vested interest?

@ go home, why are you avoiding the questions below?

In addition,
a. What is the tangible evidence of how well the proceeds of the partial removal and SURE-P initiative?
b. What explains the price of N130 for kerosene that enjoins subsidy and should be sold at N50 official?
c. Where is the common sense of buying refined fuel from abroad while we export the raw crude when the same govt is preaching a ban to the importation of fish and other goods that we naturally produce locally?
e. How do you react to this revelation:
SenseiX:

A parliamentary committee last year found that the subsidy system, with its ever-increasing number of importers licensed by the government, was “fraught with endemic corruption and entrenched inefficiency. Much of the amount claimed to have been paid as subsidy was actually not for consumed” fuel, the committee found.

omenka:
Interesting!

I have just a few questions.

1). How much were previous administrations paying for subsidy??

2). How much did Jonathan pay on assumption of duty as the president and in subsequent years as president??

3). What necessitated the geometric increase in the expenditure on subsidy soon after Jonathan took over?? It was about 300billion on the budget but burgeoned to nearly 2trillion at the end of the fiscal year. Was there a corresponding increase in the demand of products to have warranted such increase in "supply"?? Did Nigeria get thirstier for petroleum products??

4). Was there any supplementary budget passed by the NASS to accommodate the increase as stated in #3??

5). There were about 40 importers of products prior to Jonathan's regime. After he took over, the list went over the roof to about 150!! What was the reason behind this??

#waiting.
