The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the election of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

It upheld two appeals filed by Wike against the decisions of the Court of Appeal which had upturned the dismissal of a petition filed by the African Action Congress, AAC, and its candidate in the 2019 governorship election, Awara Biokpomabo Festus.

In two unanimous judgments, a seven-man panel of the apex court upheld the two appeals by Wike on the grounds that they were meritorious.

The ruling was delivered by Justice Ejembi Eko.

The Appeal Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State on Wednesday sacked Abdulkareem Isah of the All Progressives Congress, APC member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

The Court of Appeal in Ado-Ekiti Division on Thursday reserved judgment on the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress Candidate, Prince Dayo Adeyeye challenging the decision of the election petition tribunal that declared the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate, Senator Biodun Olujimi, ,in the Ekiti South Senatorial District as the winner.

The aides of governor Obaseki of Edo State and Six persons were on Saturday confirmed dead after they were involved in an accident near Ehor village along the Benin-Ekpoma highway.

The victims include five adults and two children and they were driving in an Audi 80 car which had a head-on collision with a Toyota Hilux van.

The President, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Dr. Ayuba Wabba, has described as mere speculation, reports of agreement to a 20 per cent and 13.5 per cent consequential adjustments for workers on Grade Levels 7-14 and 15-17 respectively.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that any Federal Government worker not captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) by Oct. 31 would not be paid salary.

A 344 year old tortoise popularly known as ALAGBA in the palace of the Soun of Ogbomoso in Oyo State has passed on.
