The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the election of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

It upheld two appeals filed by Wike against the decisions of the Court of Appeal which had upturned the dismissal of a petition filed by the African Action Congress, AAC, and its candidate in the 2019 governorship election, Awara Biokpomabo Festus.

In two unanimous judgments, a seven-man panel of the apex court upheld the two appeals by Wike on the grounds that they were meritorious.

The ruling was delivered by Justice Ejembi Eko.

The appeals were against the decisions of the Court of Appeal, reversing two decisions of the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal.READ FULL STORY HERE

Abdulkareem Isah, APC member lost his seat at the appeal court to Barrister Shabba Isah Ibrahim of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The victory of Shabba was announced in a tweet by Kogi PDP governorship candidate in the coming election, Engr Musa Wada.

The Court of Appeal in Ado-Ekiti Division on Thursday reserved judgment on the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress Candidate, Prince Dayo Adeyeye challenging the decision of the election petition tribunal that declared the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate, Senator Biodun Olujimi, ,in the Ekiti South Senatorial District as the winner.

Following the adoption of the written addresses of the two sides in the case, the three-member appeal court adjourned the matter for judgment till a date to be communicated to the parties through the registry of the court.

Adeyeye has filed an appeal against the verdict of the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal declaring Senator Biodun Olujimi winner of the poll.
