May be its because you are still new in the business. Most information you read in books are free online. Try and join thought leadership forums, read authority blogs and you will find them. I am a researcher and I can find any book I want for free (most of the time). I have thousands of e-books on different internet marketing businesses. Although, I don't know the book you guys are talking about, but I know hundreds of website where you can get high paying writing gigs. But the problem is, most of them don't like our black faces, especially Nigerians. I have been there! Unless maybe some of them have changed their policies recently.

Just like Tranxo reiterated, I did not tell anyone to work on freelancer.com for life. My principle is, learn what you can and try to establish yourself in other areas. I did not start with freelancer at first, I tried all I could but nothing worked. It was while working on freelancer that I started developing other business ideas. I have other online money making businesses now.

This thread is a seed, and I expect everyone to pick up whatever they can, plant it, water it and let it grow. From there, you can pick up other seeds while working on freelancer and also start planting on your own. That is how life is. I can't bring all the seeds here for everyone to pick, it will be confusing. Therefore, thank God for the seed you picked here and how it has helped you (because am sure it did) and the one you have now. Don't despise "content mills" as you call it because that was where you started from.

There are better ways to make money online CASUALLY AND PASSIVELY. Whether you like it or not, you are still working for employers, be it $2 or $50. I am not in that realm anymore. Did you people read about Linda Ikeji's house in Banana's Island? It is over 850million naira. She makes more than $40 million dollars monthly on adsense only. Now, that is the realm I want to be!

Thank you for this information Tranxo. Some few months ago, my back ached badly. So, I decided to look for a more comfortable Table and chair. Just like a magic, the pains disappeared. The way we sit matters a lot. Also, don't sit straight from morning to night without taking breaks in-between. If you work for 1 hr, take a 5 minutes break to refresh your brain. You can also do the stretching exercise below at intervals.

Hmmm! My bro. I have two cases on my hands now that looks exactly like yours. Dispute is not the best place to start, it dents your profile. The first thing to do is to contact the support desk. They will issue a ticket for you and send the employer a letter on your behalf. Then you get back to the support desk to find out what the employer said. If it is not favourable, go to dispute as your final resort. It is well!

It depends on many factors such as:
1. The budget of the employer
2. The bid of other freelancers
3. The topic or subject matter of the e-book etc.

There is no fixed price for 10,000 or 15,000 word e-book. Generally, you can charge around $150 - $250. Some employers may pay higher than that. But that is the range. If you are on preferred freelancer's program, you can get employers who will be willing to pay double that amount and even more for the same word count.

They were paying into my freelancer account. Once you open an account on FL, you have a money account with them where employers can pay you. You can withdraw it whenever you are ready. Withdrawal is twice a week - Wednesdays and Sundays. However, your money must be up to $30 or so beforre you can withdraw to your card. You don't need to wait for your card to arrive before you start working.

Kudos to ladywriter for selflessly empowering people. This thread is more than just introduction of an existing but not too known honey pot, it excels in training newbies on the "how" of the business.

I only knew about fiverr, although never worked there till now despite that I have registered since 2013, Lady writer got me to know about freelancer and also work on it.

I started work in April but wasn't very committed, I have offline hustles I have to go after. Within my first month, I was still able to get no less than $200 worth of writing project. After that I relaxed partly due to my faulty laptop battery, the competitiveness of the site and scanty rating I had. To cut the long story short, last month, I resumed work on the site in my spare time. Luckily for me, I was able to get quick job that midnight to help an Indian client complete the US English Language Test on the site. I actually beat another Nigerian to the job (lesson: always be online to reply potential employers). I passed the test sharp sharp, 95%. The guy was impressed and asked for my specialty and then my mobile number.

Approximately a week later, the guy came with a technical job that I never knew anything about cos he is a computer networking guy. But thanks to my research and writing skills, I delivered the job BEFORE deadline and he was impressed with my reliability and excellent writing (at least to him). Since then he has always keep knocking with projects in the IT field. He has lots of clients (students) he gets job from and he confessed he's not really the writing type. So I get to do most of the projects now. He even pays me more that the $5 per 500 words we negotiated in the beginning, plus bonuses to keep me motivated. Now he just asks me what I want from the little he also charges his clients. I hardly bid on freelancer except when I'm less busy. I still keep my offline work, I teach in the day.

So who says all Indians are mean? In 3 weeks, the guy has paid me over $300 (still small but don't forget I'm a part time freelancer). I cashed out my money through HISENJOS as I have no payoneer card.

So fellow newbie freelancers, these are my pieces of advice:
Be hardworking
Always strive for quality; that's what will give you repeat business.
Endeavour, if you can to submit work before deadline. (Never miss a deadline; if at all you will, inform your client beforehand). This will prove to your employer that you are reliable and capable.
Don't seek short cut, the easy way e.g using automated software to rewrite. If you can't do it, don't accept it (I've rejected some offers too on the site, believe me)
Don't be too desperate but be tactically professional (I don't give free samples; the two times I wrote free samples, I had the word of my employer to pay for the samples if the eventually liked them and that they did).
Stay online whenever you are bidding. I have the freelancer mobile app to chat up clients if at all I'm not at my system.
Keep bidding until you win.
Refine your profile and most especially your proposal. Let it be tailor made to the project you are bidding on.

Then keep bidding.........I say keep bidding until we buy our new ride like madam philanthropist ladywriter........ .

N.B: I'm still a learner with very few reviews (My Indian guy pays me for new projects through past projects at times, I only need to create new invoice). But I know u can get better.

Full testimony coming soon. Although, I'm planning to go to oil and gas soon lolz. But before then, freelancer must milk for me.

Hmmm! Bro. 7 bids in three weeks! You are joking right? I bid on at least 3-5 projects PER DAY. The more you bid, the better your chances of winning. You don't have to wait for the employer to award the project before you bid on other projects. So, go back there and start bidding on at least 3 projects per day. You need to also check the quality of your proposal. @Indestructible and Tooltip provided samples of proposal on this thread. Check from page 80-90, you will see the sample. Use it to craft your own sample and bid more on projects. Blessings!

Thanks, but one more thing that still seem confusing to me is the address issue. Must the address on the ID card correspond with the address used to open payoneer account even when the person has changed location from his former place of residence?

Saw a place where it was mentioned that one is required to scan a national ID card or international passport, or either of Utility Bill bearing one's name or a driving licence. But I have non of that. Can I use my National Voter's card in place of that National ID card?

I used my international passport. But I think you can use the National ID also. Try it and see if it works.

It seems extra credit is earned on every bid but I 'think' you actually have an option to buy back unused bids and if this is true, I don't want to waste my time logging on to exhaust my bids.

Hmmmm! Am happy for you o. Just ignore them. That's what I do. One thing you should be doing is building your profile. Make sure every employer you work for gives a review at the end of the project. That is what will sustain your business on the long run. All the best dear!

@peacefulone, the card is empty. You cannot verify with it. You can use your bank's card to verify it. You cannot load funds on payoneer. You can only use it for withdrawal on FL.

They emailed me the account details with the expected date of arrival.After that i will not hear anything from them. I went to NIPOST to ask whether the card has arrived, they said no(they dont even know Payoneer). They told me if i can give them the tracking number(which i dont have) to know the stance of the card.
To sum it up am thinking i have problem with my address issue... So please assist me with the correct address format.

I had to chat with the elance customer support yesterday about my subscription plan and all, then towards the end of the chat I was like" How do I get bonus?" the customer support guy replied " through referal, but that their referal system isn't working for now" then the freebies dropped when he said " I have already credited your account with 10 connects free. I was like " Wow!".

So guys on elance.com, this a tip for you. Try yours if it works please come back here and share your experience.

PS: Guys, please don't go there and mess nija up ooo. I was civil and treated the customer support guy with respect, I think this was what worked for me, well, couple with the fact that am a paid member. Thought I should share " You know nah, anything for my nija people!

I completed a job for an employer who paid and provided feedback without hassles. To my greatest shock, I woke up this morning to discover that the money was reversed. I inquired from customer support and they said the employer has issues with the third party payment platform she used for paying the money. They promised to refund the money back to me when the issue is settle but I can also lose the funds when the issue is not settled. How can I suffer from my employer's problems? Why should I be charged for my employer's problems? I am angry cos the amount here is huge (from a huge project) and my account now is in negative. Have someone here experienced this?

@Chidinho10, yes I have experienced it before. It took a long while (about 2-3 weeks) for the employer to reconcile his accounts but eventually, the fund was paid into my account. So, no worries. Put it into prayers and God will handle it for you.

@kachnov, this is serious o. Did your employer set milestone for you? If the answer is no, it is a problem o. The amount you mentioned looks too big for the project. I am sure FL have removed their commission on your account already. Stop working and keep contacting the employer until you hear from her end.

Hello. one tip that i have learnt from this house that has greatly benefited me is to stay up to bid in the wee hours. some employers have urgent job to execute and will give it to immediately available freelancers. also weekends. then it is good to be the first or at least one of the first to bid on a job as the employer is posting it. he is likely to see your bid as it comes in and will want to chat you up straight away. then put in several bids daily, don't rest on one. then be available online! don't bid and then go offline forever. after getting your first few jobs and reviews, you can begin to regularise. hope this helps.
