Travel / Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by lamdec(f): 11:39am On Aug 10, 2021
Hello everyone, please I need help.

We applied for transit visa for Netherlands and for now, only my husband passport is back but there is a mistake.
His transit visa on his passport is valid from 1st sept to 8th sept, but we transit on the 10th September.
I have checked my application form and 10th September was what I indicated as date of transit and we submitted our flight tickets too.

I have sent a mail to VFS, they replied that they are not in charge and gave me a mail to send my request to which I have done.
However, I have previously sent a mail to this particular email they sent to me and they never responded, so I am afraid they may not respond to this also.

It's been over 24hrs I have sent the email. Please who has any idea what I can do next.

Can you try again,

Use this link

https://row1.vfsglobal.com/GAR1Ph1Appt/Account/RegisteredLogin?ReturnUrl=%2fGAR1Ph1Appt%2fHome%2fSelectVAC

If you are scheduling a group appointment, reduce it to one then the other.

Also use Google Chrome or Edge Browser.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Thank you very much.

I will apply for each of us separately as you suggested.

I have a baby and I know transit visa is free for her but do I still register for her on bfs and submit her passport?

I am trying to make deposit payment for my wife tuition at UWE via form A at a local bank but they are asking for bank details for the school. I can't find it on their student portal.....Please Does anyone have the details? I have sent a mail to Jennifer their country rep since yday but no feedback.

On your wife's welcome portal, under letters (I think there should be a letter with bank details). If not, then click on pay school fees or search for how to pay school fees on the school's website or this link https://payment.flywire.com/pay/payment, put the amount you want to pay and then choose the option of International bank transfer, they should give you a form and a code that you will print for your FORM A. You will be told that the code will expire in 3 days but if you send a mail to flawier that you are paying from Nigeria, it will be extended to a month.

For the umpteenth time, the name in question is ogunsuyi, which is a benin coined name.

I don't know why you're delving into ogun se-iyi or whatever.

Ogun represents a deity (God of iron) or does it mean anything else.

This deity yes was widely worshipped in yoruba land, but yet found its way to Benin and south of Nigeria, just like Islam and christianity, budhism etc came to Nigeria.

Like I explained earlier, worshippers of ogun in benin were the ones who coined the name ogunsuyi (not ogun-se-iyi that you're bandying about) meaning ogun deserves honour, which is merely singing the praise of the god ogun, out of what they (worshippers) may have enjoyed from it.

Till this minute, you're yet to tell me what ogunsuyi means in yoruba. Instead you claim it is ogun-se-iyi. So because ogun is a deity synonymous with yoruba, any name associated with it becomes yoruba?

You've failed to recognise that Ogun (god of iron) was and is still worshipped across the south of Nigeria.

You personally have continously missed the point in the argument you're making. This argument was not whether the name is answered by yoruba. If that had been the case, I'd have long dropped it, but your argument is that the name is yoruba and can never be Edo. Some even went further to declare Edo as yoruba land. Such brazen disrespect for other culture, that makes me sympathize with folks who call for disintegration. If one particular tribe forms the habit of disrespecting and casting aspersions at others with the notion that they are one and only, and the world revolves around them only. It does nothing but create resentment.

The name "owen" is an Edo name meaning"sun". It is also an English name for the brits and Americans, where it may mean something different.

The name imade, davido's baby answers is another name popular in benin. It means "I didn't fall" this may mean something else in yoruba.

I have used different examples here to better buttress my point.

For the other knuckle head claiming anyone who answers ojo is yoruba. A certain ojo madueke is ibo of abia origin.
Since you have no respect for other people's culture and you want to be right at all cost I will leave you to it. In yoruba language, we merge a lot of our words even the popular ones...
E kaaro is actualy E ku aro
Bolanle is actually Bolanile
Yinka is actually Yimika
Taiwo is actually Tun ile aye wo
Adeleke is Ade o leke
I can go on and on, that is how we merge our names and that is how derive our language, if you can not accept that, then please continue to wallow in your ignorance.
Edo people who get into this kind of argument never want to accept that the yorubas are right and funny in this case the name means the same thing both on yoruba and Edo.

Lol, I thought of ignoring you, but your response was mature enough, plus I assume you're female.

I have some questions for you.

If a name is maybe similar to what you know in your tribe, you go ahead and conclude that that person is your tribal person?

2. You claim ogunsuyi is an ijebu name and not benin. What does it mean?

3. Do you claim not to have heard of your people's erroneous and annoying claim that Edo is Yorubaland?

4. If you say ogunsuyi is ijebu or yoruba, then osasuyi is yoruba too? Because I hear "osa" in your language means river or so

To be honest, I do not care what you people claim, I personally am used to the antics of people from your tribe.

I look forward to discussions with people who have traveled wide and know a thing or two about Nigeria, it's people and culture, not a tribe who form the habit of insulting and disrespecting the culture and tradition of other tribes, which many yoruba on Nairaland enjoy doing. They are either making derogatory remarks about ibos today or casting aspersions at hausas tomorrow or the niger deltans.

I did not claim ogunsuyi is an Ijebu name, anybody from yoruba can be named ogunsuyi because it is a yoruba name. Ogun is a god.....'Iyi' is honour, Ogun-se-iyi, merged together to form Ogunsuyi...what we call 'iparoje' in Yoruba, means Ogun has brought honour.

Secondly, Edo is not yoruba land but we have more similarities than any other two tribes in Nigeria...probably in the world. We share names, we share history, we even share gods.

I have not heard osasuyi in yoruba but I have heard osasona, but I can guess osasuyi means the god 'osa' brings honour....'oosa' in yorubaland means oracle or a god, as usual in yoruba language, the firat 'o' is merged so 'osasona' means 'the oracle has made a way'.

My problem with Edo people is why you are finding it difficult to believe that yorubas bear Ogunsuyi as if it is not possible. You want your claims to be right at all cost and ours to be wrong no matter the proof we bring. We grew up in yorubaland, we are yorubas so we should know if a name is yoruba or not.
Yours is to let us know that Edos also bear that name and not abuse or call us names for stating a fact

Dude shut up

Uyi is an Edo name not yoruba.

You people don't get tired of spreading controversies and false propaganda seeking relevance everywhere.

First, Ogunsuyi is a Yoruba name....but that doesn'tmean it is not an Edo name also. But as a fact, It is a Yoruba name. Ekiti and Ijebu people always turn their 'I' to 'U' for example Isu in normal yoruba is 'Usu' in Ekiti dialet or Ijebu dialet, My name starts with 'Iyi' which means honour but I had my secondary school in Ekiti and I was called 'Uyi' throughout my secondary school. So please get your facts right Edo people before you start bashing the whole of Yoruba race.

QUESTION OOO EXPERIENCED MAMAS:
Blanket or Shawl? Which do I buy preferably and why? How many pieces will I need?
Which detergent does wonders for baby clothes washing?
Can I use a different brand of baby wipes from the brand of diapers? Which diapers apart from huggies is also top notch and problem free?

I got one blanket, one shawl..I can count the number of times I used it for my baby because he sweats a lot from day one. I use Sunlight detergent, never had any issues. I have always used a different wipe from the brand of the diaper, I think it depends on the skin sensitivity of your baby. I started with huggies, switched to one Aloe something something, now I use Dr browns and my baby's diaper is Molfix.

Joyfullmama:
ISSUE ONE

My hubby's birthday just passed, I put to bed before he left so the joy is full. On his birthday he was at work so I sent him message on Facebook, posted pictures and all that.
When he came back I went through his watsup and found out a girl used his picture as DP and said happy birthday. I am the one that normally open his notification, we operate each other's phone.
I don't know this particular girl but her chat has being on his watsup but the name do not ring a bell like his relative, and the birthday is over two weeks but the picture is still there.
I don't know if he has seen it because he his not the phone type.
MY QUESTION
Should I ask him, or let it go.

Very dicey, firstly if I should put myself in this situation , I will have asked since his birthday....to us its no biggie as in just like any other conversation, 'babe, who is this person? Her face is not familiar and he goes'oh, its so so so and so', and I can reply something like 'nawa o, she is still using your picture as dp ni?' and then from there we figure it out.

Secondly, some people have a very bad habit of not changing dps, I am their chairman, sometimes my husband too, so recently, a friend's baby turned one year in february, my husband is still using the baby's picture and dp message on his BBM till today, I was even the one asking him to change it that even the parents have moved on and he still hasn't changed it, so the lady in question can also be like that. I don't bother using other people's picture as dp cos I won't change it for a long while, it's just too much work for me.

Thirdly, the lady in question can be one of those crushing on your husband, my husband has a number but I know them too. The truth is your husband might not know she is crushing on him, I was the one that made my husband realize a particular lady was crushing on him some few years back, abegi men can be blind to those things that are obvious. I am assuming their chats is not discriminatory as you didn't state anything of such

After stating this scenarios, my advise will be that you talk to him about it, not with the mindset of 'I have caught you, you cheating bastard' cos it will be obvious in your tone, just chip it in casually and then don't dwell on it. Read his expression, read how he replies you, did he stutter, was he hesitant... etc. then you can get your facts, if you don't ask, your mind will always be their and your imaginations will run wild and then you may be worrying unnecessarily.
Good luck.

So i decided to buy my Pregnacare today and lo and behold, the price has gone up from 5450 to 6000 at Medplus pharmacy cry cry cry
They said its dollar rate. God dey sha sad
I also did some window shopping at Blenco mall in Ajah, just to take a look and see how baby things are sold. Let me not lie, i wanted to experience that feeling of rolling your belle and looking thru baby things, with some envious eyes on you. I was just feeling on top of the world with my baby bump as a first time JJC mama grin grin grin
See the prices of some of the things i saw:

Baby socks set of 4 - 1750
Sleepsuit set of 3 - 3200
Baby carrier - 5200
Bodysuit set of 6 sleeveless - 3200
Bodysuit set of 6 with sleeve - 2200
Car seat - 18,500
Bath set - 11,400
Feeding bottle sterilizer - 8800 Philip Avent brand
Tomme Tippee feeding bottle - 1200 I guess
Wash cloth set of 6 - 1550
Disposable breast pad - 3250
Washable breast pad - 700
Baby blankets - 2500
Breast pump - 11,500

Mamas who have shopped already, please take a look at the list o and let me know if their prices are inflated or fair. Its a bit comfortable shopping there than going to rowdy markets. But i still need to look pocket make i nor overspend when my mates dey buy their own cheap.
Generally, prices at Blenco are fair, I got the first set of my baby things at Dosumu, but for the second set I realized that they were more or the same prices with Blenco, so I was restocking from Blenco.
Some of the things you listed are more pricey than when I got them from the same Blenco but it could be due to the Dollar rise and also its almost a year ago.

I know. Yes Grange is not a montesorri school but grange curriculum is flexible to fit in montesorri breed. Most montesorri schools are for children my nephews attended the one in GRA...can remember the name now and it was pure montesorri. The teachers are called directress. Curriculum is based on 5 structures.. language, arts mathematics etc. Kids are taught how to pour measure build and so on. You don't force a kid to do anything. You don't beat them. They call their teachers by their first name. So many crap like that I have a thorough understanding about montesorri education. They have this perception of building a perfect child...they don't even accept children above 6yrs. If you go to grange almost all the students went to montesorri schools. There are montesorri schools in lagos. (for the records)...Montesorri is someone's idea. An Italian woman I guess (feel free to correct). Most american schools don't run this curriculum and the 19th and 20th century geniuses don't have a montesorri foundation. Anway...I have typed too much...

This topic is not about which school is best...montessori or not, I only advised the Op about his child having learning difficulty and from experience montessori schools help children with learning difficulty because of how education is structured. Like I said in the first post, this present school may be the best for his daughter but maybe not for his and he should get the son evaluated.

Now to your question, pls show me a genius who thrived under a 'traditional' school facing the blackboard all day and doing assignments without bearing or by passing WASSCE etc., most genius of our time either drop out of college or something, our schools don't teach us to be innovative else we won't be in this state of importing toothpick in Nigeria.

I will give you a list of he few geniuses I know that went to a montessori school, Google brothers Larry Page and Sergey Brin, William Bright, Amazon creator Jeffrey Bezos, Wikipedia creator Jimmy Wales, Gabriel Gracia Marquez, Owner of Washington Post Katherine Graham, Anne Frank, Beyonce, P.Diddy, Joshua Bell, Peter Ducker, Anne Hathaway, George Clooney, Julia Child.....these a few.

That is a lie. A child intelligence is controlled by two factors: Gene and Environment. You talk montesorri and I laugh. Though cool but it's just not my ideal thing. My sister's sons attended a montesorri school all through(grange) she paid large sums for tuition. Yes the boys were smart that was simply because she ensured they study all the time. My Cousin kids that attended FGC odogbolu whipped their assess any day any time (Even in SAT)...My point is ensure the kids study often. Be strict about it and you gonna get a genius.....how many geniuses were montesorri bred?
Firstly, Grange is not a montessori school like I said, so many people in Nigeria use the montessori name and its just marketing purposes. Secondly, there is No montessori secondary school in nigeria, I think there is one in South Africa not sure though and there are very few montessori secondary schools in the world as a matter of fact, the school where I work is the first to have full montessori for children between the ages of 6-12. The mosy common one is for ages 3-6 years.
And the Op is talking about a younger child. And lastly, you have absolutely NO idea what montessori education is. Have a nice day

Hello house,

Please kindly help me on this. for some days now, i have noticed that my boy gets warm and his temp gets to over 38. He doesnt cry or show any sign that he is uncomfortable when his temp is high. He was just 8 months last week and he is yet to have his first set of teeths, though he has been gnawling on anything his hand can hold, recently i noticed also that he has boils on his head (4 boils on his head) but he doest cry or feel any pains.

We took him to see a Paed twice and she said he was fighting an infection. but i dont think that is the case.

Please is it normal for an 8 months old to have sudden high temp? what could be the cause and what can i do to stop this?

Please i need your help
My baby will be 8 months next week, for a week now we have been battling with high temp, 38 degrees too, his blood count was done and his White blood count skyrocketed which indicates that he is battling with an infection, what we don't know is if the infection is viral or bacterial. Your baby will be fine, use the drugs that was prescribed and tepid sponge and also bath with warm water.
