Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2007 and a multimillionaire, is an ethnic Yoruba Muslim from the country's southwest. Tinubu must also contend with accusations of corruption and misappropriation of funds, allegations which he has denied.
