no good action will hinder you if interiorly you are free from every inordinate affection. if you desire and seek nothing but the will of God and the good of your neighbour, you will enjoy interior freedom. if your heart were right, then every creature would be for you a mirror of life and a book of holy teachings. there is no creature so little and so worthless which does not represent the goodness of God 

if you were good and pure interiorly, you would see and understand all things without any impediment. a pure heart penetrates Heaven and hell 

accordingly, as one thinks interiorly, so he judges exteriorly. if there’s joy in the world, most certainly the man whose heart is pure possesses it. and if there is tribulation and anguish anywhere, an evil conscience will feel it the most. as iron put into fire loses the rust and becomes incandescent, so a man who converts himself interiorly to God, puts off his lukewarmness and is changed into a new man.

when a man begins to grow tepid, he fears every little fatigue and willingly receives external consolations. but when he begins perfectly to win himself, and walk manfully in the way of God, then he accounts as nothing those things, which first he considered burdensome.

they have simply chosen to be blind to the truth so i would rather not even try to challenge or convince them . . . i mean! what's the point!

Of Interior Conversation

Today's reading is a reflection of what goes on in our society. Our leaders want us to bow to them as they repair public infrastructures or provide the basic necessities of life. Not doing good when we are to do it is sinful.

During the celebration of the mass, the priest leads us in the confession statement and we say, for I have sinned through my thoughts, words and deeds and through leaving undone the good deeds I am supposed to do.

Though this a paraphrase of the prayer, I think if our leaders in Nigeria should pray and take time to reflect on it, they will pay more attention to the good of the common man. Think of the good deeds of road construction left undone, who then is responsible for hundreds that perish on such roads. The list is endless. It is time they realise that leaving goods deeds undone is sin. .

i think that word is rather too strong! the church does not debar anyone but rather teaches abstinence ok! it sounds like it's a 'do or die affair', which is not!
and like carl said, we don't see those tecahings as do's and don't's, or rules and regulations, rather they are little acts of love which comes willingly from the heart, ok!

well, it's a pity you're no longer in the church, but i totally agree with you that the litany of the saints (in latin) is just marvelous! 

what i always tell friends that no longer practice the faith is that they never really understood what the church's teachings are while they were there . . . that's it! because if they did, i mean, i simply don't see any plausible reason why they would want to leave!
well, we wish you well ok! and we'll continue to pray for the whole human race . . . christians (catholics and non catholics) and non christians alike, the living and the dead!

don't you just love those latin hymns the salve regina is one of my favorites too!

love is even an understatement! 
do you know that during mass, when we chant the 'gloria' or the 'credo', i get this rapturous feeling! as in! . . . i find myself in a state of ecstacy! the organ playing, the whole congregation chanting away in the language of the church . . . i mean, they all get me frenzied! i just simply love it! 

and how about during consecration, when the priest starts chanting those beautiful words in latin, directed to our Heavenly Father! menn, it simply gives me the chill!  most times i notice sweet tears rolling down my cheeks as i meditate on the words the priest says! i'm telling you! i'm sure anybody (at my side during mass) that has happened to notice the tears would probably be wondering what could be wrong with this young lady! lol

and how about when you go to pay a visit to our Lord in the blessed sacrament! in the quiet of the church!, menn, i get enchanted whenever i find my self infront of the blessed sacrament! i get this particular feeling that  . . . i really don't know what phrase to use to express it! it's so wonderful! 

. . . and again, how about after a very good confession! when you come out of the confessional, there's this feeling of lightness! as if a heavy burden has been lifted off you! well indeed, a heavy burden has actually been lifted off you, because sin in itself is a terrible burden!

so peeps, we're indeed blessed to have such lovely faith, and we ought to guard it jealously! YES! from the evil one!
let us all continue to be grateful to GOD for His mercies and for making us know Him the way we do!
we are indeed blessed children to have the Blessed Virgin Mary as our mother also! She is indispensable! always seek her intercession. ALWAYS!!!

I love to chant it in latin gosh!
whenever i want to pray and seem to be at lost for words, i simply chant the latin version of this sweet, angelic  praise to our lady, and all the words would start flowing! so lovely!
