So I just found out there's something such as spirtual gluttony. Am I the only one who didn't know this?

Well apparently I have been guilty of it.

. . . and finally my brothers and sisters, our lady's feast is here!!!

we could see today as just another liturgical celebration, but it’s so much more than that! it’s also a “preview of coming attractions”! when we celebrate Mary’s assumption here on earth, we celebrate a reality that is going on right now in heaven – a reality that shows us what our existence will be like when God’s kingdom is revealed in all its fullness

today we honour Mary not only for her holiness and purity but also for what God did for her. She is the first human being to experience the complete salvation Jesus came to bring. Jesus, the “New Adam”, freed us from the power of sin and death, reversing the consequences of Adam and Eve’s disobedience (Romans 5:12-21). As a result, Mary, the “New Eve” who brought Jesus into this world, was received body and soul into paradise at the end of her life.

Mary’s example should give us tremendous hope. for though we all experience sin and death, we have the promise of joining her one day, body and soul, in heaven. on the last day, “the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:52).

This feast also reminds us that we don’t have to wait until the second coming of Christ to begin to experience heaven. if Mary can have this intimacy right now, that means we can het a foretaste of it here as well, Jesus has already made all things new – and that includes us!

How can we experience this joy? by being as receptive as we can to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, just as Mary and Elizabeth are in today’s Gospel reading. the more we follow his leading, the more we’ll be aware of how much Jesus is at work in us to transform our lives. and the more confident we’ll be that God really does want to see us in heaven

so on this great feast, lift up your heart in praise of God for making you a new creation. He is in you, and He is longing to take you more deeply into your heavenly inheritance!

Don't mind these guys, I came to Lagos and was ready to see them but Carlosein and Co were busy firing missiles at me unnecessarily.  They don't want to receive me, but I thought my visit to Lagos would have been an opportunity to see them.  Like Lawyer, I didn't know it was a mere dream.  I will wipe the dust from my shoes for them.   I mentioned St Apostles instead of Our Lady Queen of Apostles at Ilupeju and Carlosein  could not correct me,  but he said I was "OYO and 4120" just because I made a mistake.  He didn't even realise that it was my first time at the parish.  As Oby said, I want to tour round all the Parishes -  even today, I was at Our Lady of Assumption Falome for morning mass.  Though, I went 4 something else but I had to live house early morning to avoid traffic.  I will continue to move round.  Lindiwe, I have given up the idea of meeting them.  Lawyer even tried it on 31st December and they told him "come we will be there" but Lawyer was disappointed after driving all the way from his state to Lagos.

I will come to Yenagoa, let them remain. It's even closer.

one thing i'll like us to realise is that there's nothing better for us than the medicine of God's word. what's more, it is absolutely free! but for it to take effect in our lives, we need to make it our own by digesting it everyday. that means not only reading it but letting it soak into us. His word will give us the joy, strength and peace we need to live in Him. only then can we become His word of gentleness and mercy, blessing others through what we say and do 

so peeps, let's get hungry for the 'pure spiritual milk' that can help us to grow up in Christ! but don't forget that Mother Mary is the perfect means of getting the best of this 'pure spiritual milk' - the word itself - our Lord Jesus Christ!

If we persist in asking Jesus to show Himself to us, we’ll surely find Him. and finding Him, we will find our calling! and as we draw closer to Jesus in prayer, we’ll develop a gentle hunger to do His will – we’ll be more able to discern it. 

So people, let’s take the first step by surrendering our ALL to Him today, and know that He will guide[b] US![/b]

just like my priest said at mass yesterday evening that his desire is to make heaven and to carry with him as much people as he encounters daily; so too we should concentrate more on pleasing God with our lives, and refrain from passing judgement too quickly.

May be you can now pray your Rosary, Litany, and all other traditional prayers of the Church in honour of Our Lady more thoughtfully and devotedly. If you are very lucky, may be you could find time to attend Mass devotedly daily.
If you are lucky, you could find time to visit Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament all through this period in Our Lady’s honour. May be you can do your work more diligently and devotedly in Our Lady’s honour . May be you could bring more people to Confession and the Sacrament. May be you could go on a pilgrimage to any of Our Lady’s Shrine. Just do something

May the prayer of the Mother of God come to the assistance of Your people, O Lord; for, though we know that in the flesh she has passed from us, we feel that in heavenly glory she intercedes for us with You; through Christ Our Lord. Amen

It is a Dogma of the Catholic Church that Mother Mary was assumed (body and soul) into heaven when her earthly life was over. The Dogma was pronounced, declared and defined on 1 November 1950 by His Holiness, Pope Pius XII, in his Apostolic Constitution entitled “MUNIFICENTISSIMUS DEUS” (Most Magnificent God). Extracts from the “MUNIFICENTISSIMUS DEUS” read:

“44. For which reason, after we have poured forth prayers of supplication again and again to God, and have invoked the light of the Spirit of Truth, for the glory of Almighty God who has lavished his special affection upon the Virgin Mary, for the honor of her Son, the immortal King of the Ages and the Victor over sin and death, for the increase of the glory of that same august Mother, and for the joy and exultation of the entire Church; by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and by our own authority, we pronounce, declare, and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.

“45. Hence if anyone, which God forbids, should dare willfully to deny or to call into doubt that which we have defined, let him know that he has fallen away completely from the divine and Catholic Faith.”
