Celebrities / Re: 10 Richest African Musicians: Find Out The Business Behind The Music! by LionBaba(m): 7:41pm On Jun 18, 2017
LionBaba:
Recently, Forbes Africa released its annual list of 10 most bankable African musicians. The list led by Senegalese Akon, and featured 4 Nigerian artists, however, gave no details as to how they became so rich.

But The Entrepreneur Africa, in its usual analytic style, has given a comprehensive rundown of the business side of the music of these African top artistes, with Akon and Don Jazzy as case study.

The June Edition of the Magazine, captioned ‘The Growth Edition’, comes loaded with very inspiring contents every ambitious entrepreneur needs.

On the cover of the June edition is Mr Uche Ahubelem (CEO of the leading Real Estate conglomerate, Brickwall Group, and founder of UACHD, a youth empowerment not-for-profit organization that has funded many startups in Nigeria). Recall that the May Edition of the Magazine was covered by Tonto Dike’s husband, Olakunle Churchill.

All these people uttering abuses here are the same folks that will go to Churchill's Instagram page and be begging for money up and down. Hypocrites everywhere in Nigeria. Abeg commend good work if you see it, and pray to God to bless you so you can impact on other lives too. Stop this hate...it won't help you.

I see loads of lessons here
Nairaland / General / How I Lost This “bobo” That Gave Me Everything: Pretty Female Lawyer Spills All by LionBaba(m): 5:46pm On Mar 11, 2017
Alutanews brings you this inspiring story/advice by Stephanie Ifemenam, a young female lawyer based in Abuja. Read it below and meditate upon those words (ladies especially):

Few years back,I had this bobo that provided virtually all my needs. What this bobo didn’t do for me were things I didn’t ask for. I had so much money then and also had extra to spend on irrelevant things. I never knew the word”Broke”. Then,I only collect money from my parents(on rare occasions)just to make them feel that they were still responsible for me….the money I would end up dashing my younger ones.

I can make hair very well(braid oo,fix weavons and can even make isi owu),I had a little knowledge of sewing, I can knit very well,I also I have a little idea in bead making,I can decorate,I can plan events very well(ask my siblings or my Group A members in Law school).

I never cared about developing myself in any of the above endeavours because I was so comfortable with the money I got from this bobo. I was always giving myself excuses of not having time in those days to do any of those.

One day,I woke up and found out that this bobo was gone….I was sure I wasn’t going to see him again in life and then my life became a misery.

That was when i woke up to the realities of this life.. Thank God for friends who stepped into my live and took charge… And here I am today.
Let me quickly add that in all this,I wasn’t totally stupid… I had savings.

Now,this story brings me to the essence of this post…..

There are so many young women in Nigeria (especially in Abuja) with unknown sources of wealth, living lives that they can’t afford. They have only ever traveled business class to Dubai but have jobs(or no job) that can’t even afford them a regular flight ticket.

I worry that they will end up like many who define their lives by men(who they can never truly have),crippled by their culture of dependence and entitlement, with desperation in their eyes, who aren’t building anything other than wardrobe and designers handbags on their waist.

Please my Darlings(ladies)… If you aren’t self-sufficient, start working towards it now. Develop yourself in any endeavor you are good at. Don’t always depend on that bobo…Dependence has its consequences, when you are dependent, even your independent of thought is not guaranteed. Moreover, that bobo may not be there again tomorrow.

My own situation was easier because as a lawyer, I was able to secure a job fast even though am still battling with time in between my job to do some of those things am good at… What of you that studied sociology, public admin, political science, with the current unemployment situation in the country, you only depend on a certain bobo. SORRY for you.

NYSC / Corpers' Place Of Primary Assignment In Ogun: Could This Be The Worst PPA Ever? by LionBaba(m): 11:11am On Feb 17, 2017
Below are images of a Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) in Ogun State to which about seven Corp Members were sent for their national service last Monday, February 13, 2017. According to Quincy, one of the Corp members posted to the place, the unbelievable PPA is located at Oghbere in Ijebu East LGA of Ogun State.

The first picture is the image of the school where they’re to perform their national duties, while the second picture is the accommodation provided for the corps members. The question is could there still be any other PPA worse than this, or is this the worst in Nigeria? Alutanews urges the management of NYSC to critically look into these issues of PPAs as thousands of corps members nationwide are crying out due to difficulties associated with their Places of Primary Assignment. And one wonders who approves these kinds of places for PPAs? Find the pictures below:

Nairaland / General / Boko Haram: We’ll Never Close UNIMAID In Spite Suicide Attack- VC by LionBaba(m): 10:08pm On Jan 20, 2017
Prof. Abubakar Njodi, the Vice Chancellor, University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), says the university will not close in spite Monday’s bomb blast by Boko Haram insurgents that killed a professor and four others.

Njodi spoke on Monday in Maiduguri, when Maj.-Gen. Lucky Irabor, the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole of the Nigerian Army paid him a sympathy visit.

“I can convince the senate, the management and the university community to close the school to save lives.

“But if we do that, we are not helping because we have to give the security our maximum support and our support is not to join them in the battle field.

“If we run away, that means there is nobody they should be fighting for. We should stay and resolve it, after all the war is about us, western education.”

“If we stay, the terrorists will be frustrated because that is their aim.

“What is the point of fighting for us if we run? We should stand our ground so that the military will be proud that the people they are fighting for are on ground.

“Therefore, our decision is not to close the university. We want to assure you our theatre commander, the university remains open and we will continue with our examinations tomorrow.

“We suspended the exams for today because we want the military to come and access what happened,” Njodi said.

He, however, appealed to the military to beef up security in the outskirts of the university to forestall future occurrence.

Earlier, Maj.-Gen. Irabor, the Theatre Commander, said he came to the sympathize with the UNIMAID community on the loss of lives of Prof. Aliyu Mani and others who died as a result of the suicide bomb attack.

Irabor said: “As we have already said and will continue to say that there is frustration in the Boko Haram camp.

“They have tried severally to bring sorrows and pain to the university and the rest of the communities and have failed".

Ladies…
Pull up a chair and sit down… Honey chill, its time to talk…
Can we talk? I mean talk without pretense,
posturing or qualifying…this is real life and not a show.
I often wonder if anyone is really tuned to real
life. I wonder if anyone is really seeing what we
are doing to one another. Hurting one another.
Let’s talk about acknowledging and learning to
celebrate this simple fact..men and women are
different.

I long for all women to sink back into the
glorious place of truly being women the same
way I long for a hot bath when all my muscles
are screaming.
I have noticed so many “Feminist groups” on
social media all in the name of “Protection
Against Domestic Violence”

I sincerely believe that Domestic violence is a
terrible thing which should be curbed or bridled.
But the question is…are these group of women
really curbing Domestic Violence or destroying
the homes of other women?? I dunno.
Let’s talk about why a lady who just got married
will see no other important thing to do with her
married life but to run and join those groups on
social media, even when her husband has not
physically abused her. Why? Is it really necessary?
