bluejay242001: All accessories intact and in mint condition. Comes with the original Quick Charge 3 charger too. Your offer is close, but I think 55k is a fair price for the phone. |

igbodefender: I did ask you to think carefully. Government fund a power plant in a market-driven power system? PHCN as an offtaker?!! PHCN doesn't exist anymore sir. Please do the necessary research before posting. 1 Like |

igbodefender: I'd really appreciate answers to the questions I raised in my previous post. In addition, where do you propose to get the funding to build this plant, and whom do you propose to be the offtaker for the generated power? Please think carefully before you respond. |

igbodefender: A coal-fired power plant fully operational in 18 months? Haba Oga. I'd like to meet that "consultant". It would be interesting to hear his views on the gestation period of power plants in Nigeria. A few facts you need to understand: 1. Funding: what's the timing from conclusion of all project related activities (PPA, EPC, O&M, transmission connection negotiations, fuel supply agreement, etc) to financing? You do realise that all of the activities I have mentioned are elaborate processes requiring negotiations and some require competitive procurement processes right? 2. What funding sources is your "consultant" proposing? What type of political risk and partial risk instruments will be sourced and negotiated. What timeline is he proposing for these? 3. Are you looking at relocating an existing power plant or constructing a new one entirely. For your information, the timeline from construction to commissioning of a coal-fired power plant is between 38-42 months for typical capacity which will be considered in Nigeria. Finally as I earlier stated, we do need to actively pursue development of coal to power in Nigeria. However wrong information and emotional bluster does nothing to further this agenda. |

sexybaby22: Incisive. Unmentioned is the impact of the fall in the value of the naira. Dollar components in contracts across the value chain which are paid out in naira are thus affected. Dollar-denominated obligations to financial institutions have also suffered as the tariffs have not been allowed to escalate commensurate to key tariff drivers such as the exchange and inflation rates. A lot of work needs to be done (with sincerity). I do hope the FGN-World Bank initiative goes beyond the desktop. |

igbodefender: "Fair bills" do not, and have never stimulated investment in a market-based power system. Only a cost-reflective tariff can do that. 3 Likes |

igbodefender: Do you know what the current MYTO tariff for Electricity generated from coal is? Are you willing to pay a cost-reflective unsubsidised tariff for said Electricity? Base load coal fired power generation should be developed. Problem is most Nigerians would rather fuel their generators than pay the actual cost for Power. 3 Likes |

Car Talk / Re: Diy: Immobiliser Delete On Bosch Motronic Me 7.5 Ecu (audi A4 B5 Facelift) by locutas: 1:36pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
STEP 2: Open the .bin file using your Hex Editor (HxD). You should have something like the first picture below. Edit the .bin file at the indicated references to turn the immo off as in the second picture below. STEP 3: Write the new file to the ECU using the procedure in STEP 1. Just change "r" in the syntax to "w". Install the ECU, and the car will start instantly. NOTE: The cluster had to eventually be replaced and mated to the ECU and the key, as a failed cluster means the automatic climate control and a host of other stuff simply won't work. The original .bin file was also written to the ECU to restore the immobiliser functions. But that's a DIY discussion for another day. Also note that I haven't gone into too much detail in some stages due to the sensitivity of the topic.

Touch the other end of the wire to ground. Connect the negative crocodile clip of the harness to the negative terminal of the battery. Hit enter on the computer to run the program. If you get a result similar to the first picture below, bootmode was not successful and the ECU has not been read. Try again. You should get something similar to the second below, and your generated .bin file should be in the same location as Argdub's program.

Car Talk / Diy: Immobiliser Delete On Bosch Motronic Me 7.5 Ecu (audi A4 B5 Facelift) by locutas: 1:32pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
This happened last year, but my experience just might help someone else. I had an Audi A4 B5 which was grounded due to an unexplained (and completely sudden) failure of the Instrument Cluster (IC). The B5 facelift immobiliser is contained in the IC, hence a failure of the IC meant the car wouldn't start as the key couldn't be authenticated and the instruction given to the ECU to start the car. Car was abandoned for a while as the issue had local mechanics stumped (Siena was helpful with the troubleshooting though). We ruled out immobiliser antenna (contained in the ignition barrel) issues and key issues. The car was unused for months until I had a change of heart (she's probably the most pristine facelift B5 in Naija) and attacked the problem. To verify that the immo was without a doubt the problem, I decided to do an immo delete on the ECU; remember immo in IC authenticates the key, then instructs the ECU to allow the car to start. The immo delete will remove the immobiliser reference in the ECU, thus the ECU wouldn't "look" for the instruction from the IC to start the car. nefariousmotorsports.com provided the knowhow. Tools for bench-connecting to the ECU: 1. Bosch ME 7.x ECU Bench Harness 2. Multimeter (optional) 3. Battery (the one from your home genset should suffice) 4. Computer 5. Argdub's ME7 program (from nefariousmotorsports.com) 6. Hex Reader (HxD will suffice) 7. VAG COM Cable (KKL 409.1 will suffice) 8. Short length of conducting wire STEP 1: Take out the ECU from the car's engine bay. Connect the ECU and the VAG COM cable to the harness, and then connect VAG COM cable to the computer. You will need to put the ECU in bootmode now. Connect the positive crocodile clip of the harness to the positive terminal of the battery (use your multimeter at this stage to ensure you have over 12v). Launch Argdub's ME7 program and type this syntax (but do not execute) "ME.exe --bootmode 95040 --CSpin P4.7-rp4 -b 19200 filename.bin" to read the ECU. Touch one end of the conducting wire to pin 24 as in the picture below. [img][/img]

Phones / Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by locutas: 1:53pm On Mar 31, 2017 |
There's definitely some throttling on NTEL data bundles now. Probably based on a daily allocated quota or overall fair usage cap. There's no other way to explain the fact that speeds are high just after subscribing, but drop precipitously after a few hours of heavy downloads. 1 Like |
Car Talk / Re: EPC Sign On 2001 Audi A4 Instrument Panel by locutas: 11:43am On Feb 15, 2017 |
chiefbuchiV12: Get your car scanned with VCDS or VAGCOM. The EPC warning light could indicate a number of issues. I have seen it come on as a result of issues from the main power relay (J271) located in the ECU box (on Audis I think). Nurey is also correct. You'll typically experience total loss of throttle response when the EPC warning light is on. 1 Like |
