I heard from a friend who owns the game that it is strictly an online exclusive, and he gets kicked out of the game a lot when there's even the slightest glitch on the servers or his ISP....
Any confirmation on these facts
That's not true. If you have a bad connection, you will get disconnected which makes sense.

If you disconnect during a mission and you reconnect after a few minutes, you will continue your mission.

LG G5 is certainly interesting. Will definitely use it if it didn't exist at the same time as the S7 edge grin.

if LG doesn't get it right this time, they will certainly get it right in their next flagship iteration.

Maybe you should contact him or double up on the Nigerian version
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I think the UI he showcased in the the link you gave is for an app that can predict power outages. I made a post about an app that can do that but it is not this thread. This thread is about an app that lets people know where to charge their devices.

The UI showcased is not really an ideal UI for this kind of app I think. For example: The bright background of the UI will cause a user's battery to drain faster than a dark UI. This is bad because people using the app will most likely have a low battery. smiley

Programming / Re: Can Nairaland Programming Section Be More Like Stack Overflow by lordZOUGA(m): 6:53pm On Jan 26, 2016
Like Stackoverflow. Lol.

People with serious questions ask them on stackoverflow, they don't ask them on NL.

NL doesn't have the features to compete with stackoverflow on the questions front.

Programming / Re: Why I Prefer To Develop For Blackberry Compared To Android by lordZOUGA(m): 1:42am On Nov 05, 2015
Sorry but your points do not give any real reason for developing for Blackberry.

I will use my experience on Play Store as an example. I once created simple utility app and put it up on Play Store.

After about 2 weeks of putting that app up on Play Store, It started getting an average of 600 downloads daily. Sometimes it peaks up to 800 downloads but after that week, the lowest download count it ever got was 385 downloads per day.

No ad campaign was ran for this app, the only place I shared it was on this Nairaland with my other moniker. The application was on Play Store for about 6 months before I unpublished it and it got 83,000 downloads within that time. This is definitely in direct contrast with your story about having an app that has 1000+ downloads after 2 years on Play Store.

I am pretty sure there are other developers that have seen better stats than the one I got on that app on this Nairaland.

If you are saying that you prefer appworld over Play Store because Play Store is too competitive then you are telling me that the appworld is filled with developers that doesn't like being challenged. Only mediocre developers don't like challenges.

Please, if your app is bad, fix it. Do not make excuses.

I replied to this so that some unsuspecting developer will not be mislead by your incorrect assumptions in that post.

Liliian, this isn't very efficient way to go about the problem, but should give you some clues to the solution. I did a little tweaking of the original code you and lordzouga posted just so it works. Here it is: https://gist.github.com/NixowL/8edf82c467358ce99a9d
You could ask for further assistance where needed.
Thanks for fixing that. I actually don't have the Java framework to test that. All the java code I have ever had to write is for android.

Please what would be the most efficient way of doing this?

Hello, see https://gist.github.com/anonymous/e835dd43a6effccec79f

I modified parts of the code you posted to make that.

it uses a timer to update the UI concurrently. I only implemented the count increment part. I think you should be able to complete it.

it has not been tested.

Bad news for MTN
Yes, to an extent. Might be low bandwidth. Fast enough to chat and browse facebook but too slow to be used to stream your favorite TV series or watch that funny video on YouTube. In which case, MTN will still have customers.
Programming / Re: Python: I Have A Dictionary Problem ;) :-[ by lordZOUGA(m): 10:19am On Sep 19, 2015

basically i want turn the keys and values of this:

to user input

Does the user already know the value of the keys? for example does the user already know that 'W' matches this: {'A': 16, 'B': 16, 'C': 13, 'D': 22, 'E': 17}?

if not you probably should show them the table once they start the program.

if they do, you just have to accept whatever input they provide verify it and match it to the table and then compute.

for example:

#based on python3

print("Please input a cost: "wink
cost = input()
if cost and type(cost) is str and cost in costs.keys():
#do stuff with cost possible retrieve it's value from the dictionary
print(costs[cost])

dozies1, what is your point? do you go about posting un-commented source codes with non-existent titles?

What does the code do and whwt problem do you have with it?
Software/Programmer Market / Re: Are You Mobile Android Developer? Come In by lordZOUGA(m): 11:00pm On Sep 15, 2015
"You come across stuff like this"? This job advert is from stackoverflow careers section which I think is invite only. The invite is sent after you have gotten a certain amount of reputation on stackoverflow. So posting it here isn't very useful since it is only for those that has access to stackoverflow careers section.

Besides, if you have access to this, you aren't as helpless as you make yourself seem since you must have made meaningful contributions to stackoverflow.com
Programming / Re: Developing An App To Reduce Queues At ATM by lordZOUGA(m): 11:17pm On Sep 13, 2015
alcuin,

The best way to solve this problem has to be creating an app that tells users if there is a queue at an ATM stand or not.

The most efficient way to develop such an app will be to work with banks. If they can create an API that can provide you with the frequency of withdrawals per hour or per half-hour then you can deduce if there is a queue or not. ATMs with a queue will most likely have about 8 withdrawals from different customers per half-hour.

Another way is to crowdsource it. First of all tag the different ATM locations, then create an app that logs a user's location when he/she is at a certain distance from the tagged ATM location and remove the user when the user leaves the ATM zone. If there are lots of users within a tagged location, then there must be a queue.
or the user might be inside the banking hall, though in some cases GPS does not work inside enclosed spaces like a building. This makes the solution flawed and there is also the issue of privacy...

Her premise that when you minimize an app or a game on android that they must be running in the background is wrong.

Android OS manages the memory such that the current app in the foreground takes priority. if you have an app eating memory in the background and the app currently visible needs memory, the android OS will automatically close the background app in order to provide memory for the visible app.

So, those games she minimized have no influence on the performance of the current app in use since the OS may have silently closed the games already. Notice that in the middle of her review the launcher was reloading? That's because the OS closed it when it needed memory for one of the games.

A multitasking test is mostly a test of how fast you can switch between apps or tasks and not how much apps a device can hold in memory (like she was trying to demonstrate).
