Culture / Re: 8000-Year-Old Dufuna Canoe Discovered In Yobe By Fulani Herdsmen 1987 by Lotechi(m): 6:13pm On Jan 29, 2018
chie8:
Dufuna Canoe is a canoe discovered in 1987 by a Fulani cattle herdsman a few kilometers from the village of Dufuna in the Fune Local Government Area, not far from the Komadugu Gana River, in Yobe State Nigeria. Radiocarbon dating of a sample of charcoal found near the site dates the canoe at 8500 to 8000 years old, linking the site to Lake Mega Chad.
It is the oldest boat to be discovered in Africa, and the second oldest known worldwide. The canoe is currently in Damaturu the state capital. If we had people who could have such sophisticated brains to better the lot of themselves 8000years ago, how come that path of development and self sufficiency did not go on to birth a generation eager to add value to the society??

Insult him all you want he is your president and has done better than who he took over from.

Even the visually impaired are aware electricity supply has improved. The rail lines in the south west are coming on nicely.

Npower has given succour to the youth who would have been asked to queue up in a jam packed stadium for a non-existent job, that would make billionaires of the government officials behind it.

Insecurity is still a problem but it has been so for the greater part of a decade now.

The president can do better but indeed he has done well.
. I am not a fan of PDP or her past and current leaders neither am I a fan of APC. The truth is that Buhari has made everything worse. you talk about N-power which has not employed up to 2million people with peanut take home pay but you forgot to mention that about 8million people have lost their job since buhari took over. dollar has risen from 198/205 to 365, fuel has risen from 87 to 145 in just two years.I will not want to start listing the wrongs of the current administration but I would advice that you be fair and objective in your analysis.....

Very thoughtful.
If and only if we can wake from our slumber in Nigeria, we can convert a lot of our bad situations to positives. Imagine when you're coming home from work and Naija sun is grilling you alive. Just take a look at the solar panels beside the road and you'll just be smiling. Because you know your sufferings will end as soon as you step into your apartment. All your solar batteries would have been fully charged.

Whoever has money should spend it however he likes. You don't want to tithe, no problem...but don't try to discourage others who believe in the principles of tithing.

Most people kicking against tithing don't even tithe.

Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, Bill Winston, etc preaches tithing and own Private Jets. You guys should stop making it a Nigeria thing.

For me i will tithe till eternity....let my pastor use it however he likes, it's not Freeze business.

For those about to quote me... i challenge anyone who claims to pay tithe and is against tithing to post his tithe records either by Bank SOA or tithe card (for churches who use it)
Jesus preached about being a boastful Christian...... ohhhh he called people like that ermmmmmmm........."Hypocrites"

If you see an anointed man of God,never belittle the person because you bring curses on yourself. Check the scriptures and you will see how men who challenged men of God even when they were wrong ended. E.g Korah.. Even David did not kill King Saul when the opportunity was there because he knew Saul was God's anointed. How can an un-anointed Daddy Freeze challenge an anointed Adeboye and still go free? Scripturally he is laying curses on himself... Even when you see a man of God walk in error, correct in love. To avoid the wrath of God.
David not killing Saul was his choice because God did not say "do not kill Saul".... If he had killed him, we would have said " may God give us our enemies to kill just like he gave Saul to David". just think it through without any atom of sentiment.

So I'm serving in this organization and ended up being friends with this guy, we seem to always have something to talk about as we both read books and share an interest in politics. We will go see movies, go watch football and sometimes go bowling too.
After a short time we discovered we sort of started growing feelings for each other, I have not been dating for a year but he is in a relationship.
Now we are both feeling bad because his girlfriend is really a nice girl, at least based on stuffs that i 've heard about her from him, but he claims he cant understand why he is this attracted to me too, said all he knows is he can just be himself around me without any fear or worries about what i think of him.
We are trying our best to keep away from each other but really this is over powering and its not working. Somehow he just finds himself at my place after work(i leave the office before him) till maybe 11pm most times even if his girlfriend is visiting.
Just thought to share with you all, please is there something else i can do.
I honestly don't want to come between him and his girlfriend but my feelings for him hasn't changed.
WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD I DO?
if you do not want to, then don't.

This man has sold more books than Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Chimamanda all put together despite piracy. If he were to take proceeds of tapes and books alone na billionaire. Yet some funny individuals will ask you how he is rich. I was amazed myself to find out in 2015 that he does not earn from Books proceed neither does he take Salary. It is the church that takes the proceeds.

Same with their Universities. In this case neither the Church nor Oyedepo takes profit(even though they can if they desire to). Everything is reinvested back into the system and the Church adds some more billions to the Universities annually. At times Oyedepo also gives to the Universities from his own pocket.

he does not get profit from books, covenant university, he does not earn salary, then how does he get his money

Exactly my point! A lot of people pay tithe based in personal conviction it would take more than just a light skinned man quoting a couple of scriptures to change their minds.
did you know about tithe before your pastor preached it in church? Stop all this personal conviction rhetoric. If 2moro Onyedepo or Adeboye comes out to say they were wrong to preach tithing, would you still say "no" that your tithe practice is born out of personal conviction?

The most important questions are...

1. What's God's business with sex?

2. When we have sex, do our spirits also have sex?
I do ask this question myself but then I still ask myself "why do all reasonable religion frown at sex before marriage"??

Both are mutually exclusive. Reason; by the traditional wedding, you have performed the customary rites required for the marriage ( the peoples' mandate), but by crowning it with the white (church) wedding, you are entrusting your union into God's hand. So, no "chucking" until the white wedding is done
. Once you get married traditionally, automatically you have acted according to God's guidelines. do not let the church deceive you o. which wedding ceremony do you think Jesus attended, white wedding? #logic.

My father! My father!!

Ride on sir!

Tithing dates far back before the Mosaic law. It is a covenant practice born out of revelation and insight into the deep things of God.

Father Abraham gave tithes.
Jacob gave his tithe.

And if we are Abraham's children and are now partakers of Abraham's blessings, then we must equally engage the deeds of Abraham (Hebrews 7).

Many are busy shouting, "we are now under grace, and not under the law, therefore the law should be done away with". Is this only regarding tithing?

I hope grace has now nullified the law that says thou shall not kill, thou shall not commit fornication, thou shall not lie, thou shall not worship any other god besides me, etc.

Many have become abusers of grace because they don't understand what grace is and what it has come to do.

Grace is the divine ability to do God's will without limitation where ordinarily, men would fail. Grace rides on the wheels of Mercy.

It is this mercy (divine pardon) that everyone enjoys today as a result of the blood that Jesus shed on Calvary. That is why, when many ought to have died instantly after committing a sin, they live on. Mercy suspends at outright almost instant consequence for sin and gives many chances for repentance.

The death of Jesus didn't abolish tithing because if it does, then it also abolished the sin of murder, idolatory and fornication.

His death only grants us divine pardon from the immediate consequences of sin.

I stand with Daddy G.O
. As a friend, I would advice you stand with Jesus because we have seen so many inconsistencies in the doctrine if G.Os.e.g putting on trouser is a sin but do you still think it is a sin today?? a G.O once said watching of t.v is a sin but does he still see it as a sin today?? not covering of hair to the church is a sin but do you still consider it a sin today? my guess is when the G.O came up with those doctrines, many members said "I stand with my G.O".

Anyone who still pay tithe should also look for a high priest to carry out animal sacrifices on behalf of his/her sins... Lol!
.... they should still have concubines and never read the bible because it was a taboo to touch the "ark", instead of giving to the church, they should burn their sacrifices as Abel, Cane and Noah did.....the list goes on and on. Christ came to give us life through the redefining of the religion of the Jews which came to be known as " Christianity ". The old testament has served it's purpose.

so why do your pastors read from passages of the old constitutions in church and also bringing up the laws of tithe that are in the old constitution, you bleeped up by bringing in political terms into God's issue.
. first the usage of "constitution" was to drive home my point it was not meant to be taken literally.
second, Jesus as recorded in Mathew 19vs8 corrected a notion that "what you needed to divorce your wife was a letter of divorcement"...so having corrected this notion, will it be right to use the old testament way to divorce a wife or husband the usage of " constitution" in this context is seen as a "guide".

You have no idea of what you are talking about . .
Just remember you'd be held account of every soul you mislead on judgement day. .
It's a simple instruction..surrender your 10% income ..
If the pastor should use your tithes to buy himself things or build houses on water.. It's non of your business So far you have obeyed GOD's instructions..let every living soul be lie and God be true..
I rather be a fool in the sight of men and be wise in the sight of GOD..

The world is coming to an end and the devil is really working hard to lead people astray..
Any trendy thing you see or encounter now is from the devil..

The funny thing is that people who feel they are wise enough not to surrender your 10% to GOD will end up surrendering their 100% and the families' to the devil.

10% is not too much for your creator..

Let GOD be true and every man be lie..

. if you love God, you serve and worship him not by giving 10% of ur income....then when you help the poor, then your father in heaven will be pleased.... read your bible so you can know the truth.

Please enlighten me on the currency used during the biblical days.
Please state where the bible said it's the exccess that should be put in the storehouse

Why did Ananias lie? Because he knows that the Apostles will tell him to bring the balance and he can't give excuses.
At least you didn't deny that the apostles were supposed to receive all the money gotten from the sales of the land or any possession or salary of the church members.

Where is the barn where you will put cooked food and it won't spoil.
Before I forget, please tell us where God chose that I eat my tithe for the past 10yrs, let me do cross country picnic
. Jesus begged his father to forgive those that were killing him and an apostle commanded a person to die because he did not bring everything he sold. ponder on that.
secondly, that was not tithe o, it was a communal agreement that everything everybody had will be shared amongst all.
A pastor said the only reason they collect offerings is because that is the only way we can prosper. ponder on this and tell me if u think he is saying the truth...... if you want a debate in a bid to establish the truth, just let me know, I will give you my number and call you with my recharge card.
