Career / Re: Basic Medical Science In Nigeria - The Way Forward? by lxgx1: 7:49pm On Sep 19, 2013
The problem is that these BMS courses are outdated. Who goues to spend 6 yrs only studying anatomy. thats bull crap. there's no future there. in the US we have medical technology, technical courses and other assorted courses that serve as assistants to professionals in the health field. thats whats necessary. Secondly , wake up folks. this relieance on the oil industry as the saviour for jobs aint happening. they're drilling their own oil in the US and moving to electirc vehicles. apart for some minor exports to cover shortfalss in the future NJa will drink its oil. then what. everyone will kidnap everybody else for money? Think of starting stuff for your selves . I know the next excuse is no capital. then get some damn capital.if u gotta sell shit , work as house boy whatever it takes , make it happen. My mum started out selling mops in traffic in the mid 80's now she's independently secure in her own business . No govt contracts or other useless stuff. It can be done. GET of Your LAZY ASS and MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Yea you missed a lot of revenue streams

a)product placement . The soap or TV usedin the house. the company that manufactured it pays to be in there
b)Advertising- a 30 sec spot for a prime time show is easily $200K depending on the frequency. Even though it's continuos stream the final show etc have beacoup advertising behind each eviction etc
c)Tie ins
d)licensing and syndication

Career / Re: After 2.2, He Wants To Start Again From O'level! by lxgx1: 11:04pm On Jul 22, 2013
To be honest. I dont think you need to do all that jazz. the problem is the fact that people get swayed with all the fancy titles and etc but it doesnt lead to anything and ur starting another 12 yr educational journey at 32. C'mon son. it u want to switch fields read online . do distance learning take the certification. The problem is a lack of passion with the Nigerian student. Evry one wants to read and get 1st in a field they think will make them Hammer and yet the fact is you'll just be another mediocre performer in the field . A 1st class dont mean squat. if you know ur onions inside and out. i had a friend who was in UNILAG studying MBBS with me. He left at 400 lvl to go study finance. We all he knew he was passionate about business and had business hustles going on all over medilag. he made a 1st in finance almost effortlessly because he enjoyed it. While in Medcine he struggled and would have probably be a mediocre Dr at best. Guess what he's doing today . He's owns a bakery and is selling cupcakes in the USA. One of the best i'm told in Boston. Why. because he fell in love with cooking and wanted to be a Master baker. The point is you may have many passions and vocations but your life's calling will only come after your mind is free and clear. Today he's probably earning wayyyy more than any Dr or Finance person i know. I doubt any one cares abt his 1st in Finance but guess what he's having fun with his life. Find you're passion and not alphabets.

Family / New BABY by lxgx1: 10:48pm On Jun 26, 2013
Hi Nairalanders,

I'm a 29 yr old first time dad in lagos. My baby is due in a few weeks. I just relocated to lagos from ABJ. can someone please provide advise on where to find the essentials for babies and the cost. i.e diapers, toys, food, car seat , stroller, clothes , etc. i was thinking of going online to Jumia or Konga for that stuff. does anyone know if those companies offer fair prices on their baby goods. My thought is to try them and see but if the markets are beter.

Thanks
