Politics / Plateau Gov. Lalong Says He Was Misquoted, Clears The Air On Benue Gov. Ortom by mathewteghaBLOG(m): 10:21pm On Jan 11, 2018
The Plateau State Government has cleared the air on the erroneous misgivings on social media and some broadcast stations about the statement credited to Governor Simon Lalong about the recent happenings in Benue State.

The governor through a press statement has expressed displeasure and further clarified the statement credited to him, in which he was quoted as having said he warned Governor Ortom of Benue state not to implement the anti open grazing law, He said it is sad that his expression which bothered on the plateau situation, in which he said he was waiting for the provision of the ranching alternative ahead of the total ban on open grazing in the State, was taken out of context and completely misquoted when his response on peer review of policies with his Counterparts from neighboring state was responded to in the affirmative.

DIRECTORATE OF PRESS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

PRESS RELEASE.

BENUE KILLINGS: LET NIGERIANS NOT SPIT ON THE GRAVE OF THE VICTIMS.
The Executive Governor of Plateau State Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong has expressed serious displeasure at the manner in which reports making the rounds on social media and some broadcast stations, concerning the interview he granted to members of the Press, after his meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari at the Aso villa Abuja of Thursday the 11th of January 2018.
The Executive Governor in his clarification on the statement credited to him, in which he was quoted as having said he warned Governor Ortom of Benue state not to implement the anti open grazing law, said it is sad that his expression which bothered on the plateau situation, in which he said he was waiting for the provision of the ranching alternative ahead of the total ban on open grazing in the State, was taken out of context and completely misquoted when his response on peer review of policies with his Counterparts from neighboring state was responded to in the affirmative.
The Governor berated those who have taken to the social media to make negative statements and draw political capital out of the unfortunate situation in Benue, while the pains in the grieving hearts of the victims where still fresh. The Governor added that those whose unrestrained and uncensored penchant for quick shares of negative news, has become an attitude of their new age media engagements, to know that to make a mockery of the pains of the people of Benue by spitting and dancing on the Graves of those killed in cold blood will draw the wrath of God.
The Governor in a show of solidarity and shared grief with the people of Benue and indeed all Nigerians of conscience committed to finding a lasting solution to the Herders and farmers conflict in Nigeria, expressed his deepest sympathy in a phone conversation with Governor Ortom.
He gave assurances of the prayers of the people of Plateau state for God's Comfort to the bereaved families, and for the repose of the souls of all those killed in the wake of the attack.
Governor Lalong wishes to assure the people of Plateau State and indeed all Nigerians, that Dialogue around all the options for peaceful coexistence amongst all citizens, remain the best solution to any situation that is a threat to peace in the country. He advised all to explore the benefits in the ranching and cattle Colonies proposed by the Federal Government as an alternative to open grazing, which will certainly be banned as part of the solution to the incessant farmers and herdsmen conflict all around the country.

Crime / See Names Of Top Nigerian Judges Under Investigation Revealed by mathewteghaBLOG(m): 6:01am On Oct 17, 2016
SaharaReporters has obtained a full list of top Nigerian judges under investigation by security agencies across the country.

The list is contained in a confidential memo forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari on a recent dramatic move by agents of the Department of State Security (DSS) against judges accused of accepting bribes as well as other acts of corruption.

A week ago, agents of the Department of State Security (DSS) embarked on an unprecedented raid of homes of numerous judges, arresting several of them, including two Supreme Court justices directly linked with alleged electoral judgment fraud in Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.

The judges named in a confidential list sent to President Muhammadu Buhari include Justices Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta and John Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court, Justice Muhammad Ladan Tsamiya of the Court of Appeal, Ilorin Division, Justice Uwani Abba-Aji of the Court of Appeal, Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Justice Mohammed Yunusa of the Federal high Court, Justice Kabir Auta of the Kano State High Court, Justice Munir Ladan of the Kaduna State High Court, Justice Bashir Sukola of the Kaduna State High Court, and Justice Mu’azu Pindiga of Gombe State High Court.

Other high profile judges named in the confidential memo include Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, the current President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ibrahim Auta, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Abdul Kafarati of the Federal High Court, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba and Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Federal High Court.

The memo accused Justice Chikere of receiving cash for a pre-election matter that came before her. Justice Chikere is married to Kenneth Anayo Chikere, a chieftain the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State and a former member of the House of Representatives. According to the source of the memo, Mr. Chikere acted as go-between to funnel significant amounts of cash to his wife who then proceeded to give favorable judgments to those who offered the cash.

The memo alleged that Justice Kabiru Auta collected bribes from a businessman named “Alhaji Kabiru SKY.” The bribe scandal led the National Judicial Council (NJC) to suspend the judge, but the council later recalled the judge, claiming there was not sufficient evidence that he auctioned verdicts from the bench.
