Religion / Every Pastor Who Collects Tithes Is A Thief -Must Read by mathewteghaBLOG(m): 10:35am On Sep 04, 2016 |
As far as many pastors are concerned, the most important scripture of all is not to be found in the word of Jesus. Neither is it even in the New Testament. That scripture says: “‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and try me now in this,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.’” (Malachi 3:10). This scripture is drummed repeatedly into Christians on Sundays. However, the only time Jesus mentioned tithing in scripture, he pointed out that it was not a weighty matter of the law. (Matthew 23:23). Hebrews says people only receive tithes “according to the law.” (Hebrews 7:5). It then insists tithing (and everything else under the law) has been annulled: “The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless.” (Hebrews 7:18-19). Nevertheless, mercenary pastors continue to insist on the payment of tithes. Latter-day Pharisees Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for keeping part instead of the whole law. (Matthew 23:23). That is what tithe-collecting pastors do today. If we insist our congregants must pay tithes, we must also insist that they keep the rest of the law. James says: “Whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10). Therefore, if we insist on tithing, we should also refrain from eating pork. We should stone adulterers, execute homosexuals, kill Sabbath violators and restore blood-sacrifices. Tithe-collecting pastors counter this by maintaining the payment of tithes pre-dated the law. Here Abraham is cited as the cardinal example of someone who paid tithes before the promulgation of the Law of Moses, as did Jacob, his grandson. However, such arguments are disingenuous. Before the law, tithing was at best an example but not a commandment. Moreover, pastors fail to mention that Abraham only tithed once in his lifetime. When he did, he did not even tithe his own money: he tithed the spoils of war. He gave ten percent of the plunder he took when he rescued Lot to Melchisedec, king of Salem. But then he did not even keep the rest but returned it (all ninety percent) to the king of Sodom. For his part, Jacob also tithed only once. He did this in a “let’s make a deal” arrangement he offered to God: “Jacob made a vow, saying, ‘If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God. And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will surely give a tenth to you.’” (Genesis 28:20-22). This kind of deal about accepting God only under certain self-serving conditions should certainly not be a term of reference for any serious believer. Lies upon lies The first lie pastors tell Christians is what some have referred to as “the eleventh commandment:” “Thou shalt pay thy tithes to thy local church.” But the bible says no such thing. The storehouse of Malachi was not a church. It was a place where food was kept. Pastors hide from church-members the fact that money was not acceptable as tithe. The tithe was a tenth of the seed and fruit of the land and of the animals which ate of the land. (Leviticus 27:30-32). That is why God says: “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be FOOD in my house.” (Malachi 3:10). He does not say “that there may be MONEY in my house.” The food was used to feed the Levites, the poor, widows, orphans and strangers. Pastors also conveniently fail to teach the biblical tithe. The principles of tithing were not laid down by Malachi. They were laid down by Moses. The study of Moses’ guidelines quickly reveals that the biblical tithe has no application whatsoever to Christians and is mischievously violated by tithe-collecting pastors today. According to the Law of Moses, the tithe was divided into three allocations. The first year, it was given to the Levite. The second year, it was given to widows, orphans and the poor. The third year, it was eaten in the company of the faithful before the Lord as thanksgiving for his faithfulness. (Deuteronomy 14:22-28). In the seventh year, there was no planting and no reaping and therefore no tithing. So the next time your pastor asks you to pay tithe, ask him about the seventh-year reprieve. Also ask him if you can give your tithe to the orphanage, or bring it as food items to be eaten in church. Believe me; he will not agree with you because it is your money he is after. Inapplicability of tithes Tithing was only applicable to Jews and to the land of Israel. When large populations of Jews lived in Babylon, Ammon, Moab, Egypt, and Syria, these lands became tithe-able lands. However, tithes were not acceptable from strictly Gentile lands. So you need to ask your pastor how come he is collecting tithes in Nigeria. Servants or slaves who worked on the land did not tithe because the land did not belong to them. Since only agricultural and animal resources were included, a fisherman gave no tithe of his fisheries. Neither did a miner or a carpenter pay tithes, nor anyone from the various professional occupations. So if you are not a farmer or a keeper of livestock, tell your 419 pastor tithing is biblically inapplicable to you. Moreover, the only people authorised to receive tithes were the Levites. (Hebrews 7:5). So if your Pastor is a “tithe-collector,” ask him if he happens to be a Jew. Remind him that, even though a Jew, Jesus could not receive the tithe because he was not from the tribe of Levi but from that of Judah. The trick, of course, is for pastors today to claim we are “Levites.” If your pastor is one such dissembler, ask him if he lives as a Levite. Remind him that Levites had no land and did not have private property. Ask him also how he knows he is from the tribe of Levi, which happens to be one of the lost tribes of Israel. Point out to him that even Jewish rabbis don’t claim to be Levites today because all Jewish genealogical records were lost with the destruction of the Temple in AD 70, ensuring that it is no longer possible to ascertain the true identity of Levites. Therefore, if Jews no longer tithe because the Levites are a lost tribe, how can Christian pastors collect tithes when we are not even Jewish, how much more Levites? If Jewish rabbis, whose terms of reference remain the Old Testament no longer collect tithes, then pastors who insist Christians are under a New Testament have no business doing so. The conclusion then is inescapable. Every pastor who collects tithes is nothing but “a thief and a robber.” (John 10:1). Source: Zimtoday 3 Likes

Sports / Amazing Photos From #rio2016 Olympics Closing Ceremony by mathewteghaBLOG(m): 10:10am On Aug 22, 2016 |
Rio marked the occasion with a joyful closing ceremony meant to celebrate a city and a people that defied predictions and pulled off a scaled-back Olympics amid economic and political turmoil. The Olympic torch was extinguished and Brazil and the world bid farewell on Sunday to the first Olympic Games in South America. The competition took place as scheduled and there were no major security incidents if you don't count the one fabricated by American swimmers. USA came first winning a total of 121 Medals, which include 46 Gold, Great Britain second with 27 Gold while China is third with 26 Gold. Our very own Team Nigeria came in on 78th position in the rankings as published by the organizing committee of the Rio 2016 Olympic games. Carlos Nuzman, president of the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee, said during the ceremony: "We did it. We made it. It was seven years of a lot of struggle and work, but it was worth it. Every minute. Organizing the Games in Rio was a challenge. A successful challenge." The 2020 Summer Games is set to be hosted in Tokyo. Sports / Solomon Dalung Responds To Reports That Mikel Obi Paid $4000 To Free Squad by mathewteghaBLOG(m): 8:09am On Aug 13, 2016 |
After reports that John Mikel Obi paid $4000 to free the Olympic football squad after the team was held to ransom by hotel officials in Sao Paulo over bills incurred by additional NFF officials. The Honorable Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has denied the report through a statement released on the Minister's official Facebook page and signed by Nneka Ikem-Anibeze, his Special Adviser on Media .The statement read; The attention of the Ministry of Youth and Sports has again been drawn to the news that Team Nigeria's Captain John Mikel Obi paid hotel bills accruing from the 8 unaccredited players and officials in Rio with the National U-23 team. According to the Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung, the chief coach of the team Samson Siasia in company of another official had come knocking on his door at about 4am Sao Paolo time. "Siasia was in my room early this morning and said the hotel security had refused to allow the team leave the hotel due to unpaid hotel bills. I also lodged in the same hotel with the Permanent Secretary and other members of the National Assembly who came to watch the match against Columbia. I told him to add the bill to the permanent Secretary's bill so that he can clear it alongside other bills. The amount incurred by the excess officials and players is $4,600. When we checked out of the hotel, the money was added and the Permanent Secretary paid all outstanding bills. I am surprised to hear and read that Mikel Obi saved an embarrassing situation by paying the bills" Dalung stated. The Minister also restated that 8 unofficially accredited persons have been following the team since they left Atlanta including 4 players and 4 officials. The organizers of the games, the International Olympic Committee are only responsible for 25 accredited players and officials including feeding, flights and accommodation. "In Manaus, we were forced to pay camp allowances to the extra 4 players making 29. As we speak now, the Nigeria Football Federation is the only federation that does not have a single board member on ground. Not even the Secretary-General is here. So, it is really unfortunate that this is happening. We have paid all players and other athletes their first 11 days in camp and the payment of the rest of the days will commence today( Friday). We want to plead with the players to shelve all actions capable of distracting them from their upcoming game on Saturday against Denmark and channel all grievances through the appropriate route. We remain committed to the welfare of all our athletes in camp as we look forward to giving them our unhindered support" Dalung reassured. Health / JUTH Workers Protest- 5 Hospitalised As Police Storm JOHESU Protest -photos by mathewteghaBLOG(m): 12:02am On Aug 03, 2016 |
It’s not the best of times for the Patients, Staff and Management of the Jos university hospital JUTH, as the protest which started peacefully on Monday turned violent on Tuesday, the second day when police officers tried to disperse the workers who had occupied the main entrance of the hospital but failed. Five persons are currently receiving treatment at the Jos University Teaching hospital (JUTH) following the use of gas canisters by police officers on protesting workers of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) of JUTH Tuesday afternoon, persons hospitalised include Mathew Nyam, Nakuza Isreal Daniel, Nanlop Audu and Susan Joseph of catering department while Juliana Ibrahim, an attendant also sustained injuries. The joint health workers union JOHESU of the university of Jos Teaching Hospital JUTH were protesting the non-implementation of the agreement signed by the hospital management in June and the now insistence of the hospital management to implement the 'no work, no pay' policy only after the workers had called off their strike in June, therefore denying them April and May salaries. The Workers faulted it on the insensitivity of the hospital management led by the Chief medical Director, Professor Edmund Banwat, calling for his removal. Members of the health workers union described the action of the CMD as unfortunate because he had failed to meet with the union since June 1st, 2016 after signing an MOU with them to discuss the way forward on some of their demands. Chairman of the Union, Mustapha Kabiru said that the Assistant Police Commissioner, Operation had given the order for the use of gas canisters on them alleging that over 20 canisters had been used directly at protesters. Kabiru called on the federal government to shut down the hospital adding that “we cannot guarantee what will happen tomorrow because our people have been molested". Treasurer of the union, Vwamse Frederick, who was molested by police officers, said “they asked for the Chairman and the Secretary but they were not around; so I tried to call the chairman but they said I was making calls in front of the Assistant Commissioner and they started beating me.” Some of the protesters also alleged that area commander gave an order for shooting as one of the patient has a bullet wound and cloths torn. Police Public Relations Officer, Tyopev Matthias Terna, asked for time to verify the true situation of things before he could comment and said that the Police only went in to prevent the protest from degenerating further into Violence. Health / JUTH Jos University Teaching Hospital Blocked By Protesting Health Workers by mathewteghaBLOG(m): 6:24pm On Aug 01, 2016 |
The joint health workers union JOHESU of the university of Jos Teaching Hospital JUTH have today 1st August 2016 staged a peaceful protest barricading the main entrance of the teaching hospital and crippling its activities, the protest started early by 7am as they blocked the entrance. The Workers faulted it on the insensitivity of the hospital management led by the Chief medical Director, Professor Edmond Banwat, calling for his removal. Speaking to the Plateau state JOHESU Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Kabir, said that the union had resolved to embark on a peaceful protest today pending when their April and May salaries are paid and also pass a vote of no confidence on the top management for total system failure. He lamented the non implementation of the MOU signed at the instance of the minister of health since they called off the strike on 6th of June. Out of over 2000 staff only about 270 received salaries and some were paid N500, N200 or even N100. He called on the intervention of the Federal Government as a Federal Teaching hospital should not be faced with issues such as this and further called for the removal of the Chief Medical Director and change of the entire management team. A Doctor in the hospital also confirmed that it was rather an unfortunate situation and it was painful that it has generated to this, stating that the entire management led by the CMD has been Insensitive to the plight of the entire staff and that for the past 7months the hospital has not been effectively functional. Another hospital worker also confirmed that the hospital seems to be running to a halt as basic facilities in the hospital are unavailable and therefore most hospital services are almost at zero. Most patients have to be taken to other private medical centers for issues that are normally resolved within and further confirmed that some workers received as low as N100 for a month salary after unjust deductions as only a handful have received salaries. As at the time of filing this report all activities at the hospital was at a stand still as there was no entrance into and out, even the medical students writing their exams seems to all be on a stand still. The protest is schedule to last the whole day with rumors that the doctors will also join in the protest if issues are not resolved The Chief Medical Director could not be reached to comment on the happenings in the hospital.
