I was about to say, the sacrifice or investment of a politician, is precisely "the money they gave people during election is the one they are taking back".

But its our fault though, we the voters. We sell our vote and elect a person for the pittance they give us up front, and then we wail that the incompetent person we sold our vote to and elected is incompetent.
