Politics / Still On T.y Danjuma's Comments; What Is Ethnic Cleansing!!!! by midb1: 5:32pm On Mar 26, 2018
WHAT IS ETHNIC CLEANSING

The best answer is: what an individual defines it to be and gets away with it.
The second best answer is this:
The official United Nations definition of ethnic cleansing is "rendering an area ethnically homogeneous by using force or intimidation to remove from a given area persons of another ethnic or religious group".[15]
Why did I say "what an individual defines it to be and gets away with it"?
Because that is what T Y Danjuma has just done.
And that is what the Southern Press has been doing for a long time.
The United Nations has defined the killings of Royingas in Myanmar as ethnic cleansing.Reason being that there is a Buddhist majority with their government and army trying to make Myanmar ethnically and religiously pure.
Coming to Nigeria, is there an ethnically pure government? There has never been.
Is there an ethnically pure Armed Forces or Police Force? There isn't.
Has any federal government of Nigeria been made up only of citizens from one religious group?
There has never been, cannot be.
So can there be ethnic cleansing without state backing?Possible but hardly.
Because that is the reason you have the Armed Forces: to guarantee the safety of lives and properties of all citizens.
In Nigeria's case the perpetrators of alleged ethnic cleansing have been identified: Fulani herdsmen.
Have we ever heard of farmers versus herdsmen conflict in the past? So many times. And that it took place in areas such as Kano, Sokoto, Jigawa, Katsina and all other Muslim-dominated areas in the North. And the majority tribe in those areas are called Hausas, their language is Hausa not Fulfulde, the language of the Fulanis.
Then why should the definition change to ethnic cleansing because the clash took place between peoples who are Christians and Fulanis? It is because someone has decided to change the conflict from economic to religious.
And what is the intended benefit? To sway the minds of Christians politically against a Muslim president.A Muslim president who tragically ( for him and the nation) happens to be a Fulani. And more tragically for the Fulanis because they are being slaughtered because of him and he instituted no program for their benefit.
Should we go back to T Y Danjuma? Of what use is it?
If someone can rise to be a General in Nigerian army, fought on the side of Nigeria in civil war, owns oil wells by virtue of being a Nigerian, (I don't think Taraba is an oil-producing state) and yet ends up being a supporter of ethnic militias, what then can you say of the psyche of a black man, that of a Nigerian in particular?
Black men do not give up power, that is easily. Nigeria has many challenges to its existence.
But the most serious challenge comes from its former Generals. If new rulers refuse to dance to their tunes then they turn into combatants against the state. This they do by turning into ethnic/ religious champions.
Unfortunately for the North, a significant population of the minorities are not Muslims. As a result, the quest for power becomes translated into war of supremacy between religions.
Where did Danjuma deliver his inciting speech? Not at ABU, nor at UI, neither at UniLag.He delivered it in his ethnic enclave: university of Taraba. And may be after the speech he will move to Abuja or Lagos, without visa of course.
Or go on pilgrimage to Jerusalem, using Nigeria's passport of course, after setting his country on fire.
Will there be any individual in Nigeria, including the President, who will deny Danjuma audience?
Will Buratai or other Service Chiefs refuse to discuss Nigeria's security with Danjuma? But Danjuma is not looking for solution to a national problem. He wants to exacerbate it.
Nigeria's problems are its former leaders. Governors want to rule forever through life pensions. Even legislators wanted to introduce pension for themselves.
The human mind is highly elastic in its selfishness. If you are not willing to confront it, it will push you out of existence.A historical community made sure a king did not become a life burden. When they decided enough was enough, they executed the king.In compensation they erected a statue of him and worshipped it.Okorocha, the statue-maker, kindly get ready. Some mischief-makers are goading God to send them to great beyond. He will surely oblige them through the agency of a positively mad leader.
But this senseless blackmail by former leaders is becoming too unbearable.

An old man who was sleeping with his son's wife(despicable). a man who surrendered Nigerias land (Bakassi) to another country. no no no obasanjo should just go and sleep
