MTN is actually crap. I was using their VGC net in my office and there was no day that went by without me calling their customer service. I got so frustrated i just had to change. I now use CYBERSPACE and believe you me, they are expensive, but no down time. I can travel as much as i want to, without fear of DOWNTIME!

Actually, the SAT-3 cable will not help us with building a local Internet exchange, because it only links African countries up with a port in Europe. Though it will speed up traffic between countries on the SAT-3 cable (such as Nigeria and South Africa).

A local Internet exchange is only useful when Internet traffic within Nigeria becomes significant. This is unlikely to happen anytime soon, because most Nigerian traffic goes to US-based companies offering free services (Like Yahoo, Google) and Nigerian company websites which are hosted at cheap rates in US-based data centers.

With power supply and Internet access being more expensive and unstable in Nigeria, web hosting in Nigeria wil remain uneconomical and hence very few people would do it. This would make any local Internet exchange useless.

What are the advantages of a local Internet exchange in Nigeria?

hi rutee,
the problem you are having is sometimes a driver problem. if this is an old monitor you have been using on this system, then its either the driver is corrupt or the screen resolution setting has been tampered with. In either case, this is how we solve it,
switch on the system and after it has run the POST (power on self test) press F8 contineously till you get to a screen where you see boot in safemode and all. Select safe mode and boot the system. After booting is completed, go to device manager and uninstall the driver for the display adapter. After unistalling, reboot the system. Your challenges wud av been taken care of. there is a Dlink 3200 wireless access point and all u need to do for effective and over the edge coverage is to have one on each floor. now ur design will be in such a way that all levels wud be taken care of

where X stands for the AP from ground floor to 2nd floor. this arrangement allows for absoute coverage of ur facility. there is a feature that it has that will make computers see all the access points as just 1 so as u move with ur laptop, the best available signal will be given to ur laptop. hope this helps

Ive used Mikrotik radios for 3 years noe and there has been no reason to do any reinstalltion or anything. The only challenge i have faced was with the antenna and not the radio itself. Mikrotik is reliable and i have been deploying it in a couple of places! So, go and enjoy it.
